Quiet paws swung in a queerly loose gait, carrying the sturdy form of Shay across the increasingly rocky ground. There was a pack in this direction, he knew, and right now his chances of survival would be greatly increased by finding one. The chance of being turned away or attacked at the border were high, as he did not know anything about this pack, but the longer he went without finding one right now the higher the risk of his death.

He was coming from the direction of the ravine, where he had been exploring the deep gash, picking out a path down one of the more gradual slopes. He remembered feeling like the ground moved beneath him, and he'd slipped, then nothing. Everything was blank from then until he'd found himself halfway here, blood coating his left front side and his left foreleg dragging. Every movement caused a breath-taking pain to shoot through the limb, so he just let it drag and endured it. The shoulder was certainly displaced, and the lower bone likely broken... maybe badly.

Worse than that, though, the left side of his face was... very bad. He wasn't sure how much damage had been done, but the pain radiating from the wound made him feel sick, and he'd had to stop and empty his stomach several times, until each time he stopped he could do no more than heave wretchedly. He could see nothing from that eye, got no response from several of the muscles around it, and fresh blood continued to leak down his side from the wound.

The scent of the pack marker's finally reached their peak. Here, this was where the border was. Just outside it, Shay stopped. Gray-toned nose pointed to the sky, a high note leaving his jaws, simply a polite request for a member of the pack in question to appear at the border. Howl completed, the gray wolf calmly sat, his tail curled around his toes as he waited.

OOC note: To start with, NOT a joining thread. Just a "oh hi there, do you have a bandaid?" thread. To continue... (of a rather graphic medical nature!) For reaction's sake, allow me to detail Shay's wounds. The left foreleg is dislocated at the shoulder, with a clean break through both the ulna and radius, though they are not badly displaced and have not broken the skin. On his face, a deep, wide gash travels diagonally across his whole left eye from the middle of his forehead to his jaw. The eye is gone and the cut goes to the bone. There's a good amount of gravel debris and it's bleeding quite a lot.

Quote:Vahva was probably the first to hear the call maybe. Just as she had been before, her body carried herself like nothing before. Bolting to the scene her paws nearly slipped into the crevice where the wolf was as well. Yet he looked hurt, and badly at that. The woman narrowed her eyes, becoming very alert. This was her job, and she was sick and tired of others looking at her like she did shit. Pulling herself safely down into the crevice to rest near the man. The maned woman crouched near him sniffing his wounds first before thinking about anything. "May I?" she asked permission before touching him. Paws gently on his broken bone, it was dislocated at the shoulder, not to mention the break near his ulna and radius. Making her frown, and then note the nasty gash on his eye that was now missing probably lost in this crevice somewhere. And of course that must have hurt, like hell.
"I'm going to stop the bleeding with some cobwebs, but after I have to relocate your shoulder it'll hurt okay so as a warning just be prepared." she said sternly. Cobwebs were easy to find and in masses as well, quickly she would gather them, and press them against his eye wound. It would soak up the blood, as she watched the eye socket carefully. Once she could move him he could do with a good cleaning to avoid infection. Vahva turned her attention to his dislocated shoulder, placing her paws on it. She carefully placed them, "All you need to do, is breath." Suddenly she put pressure on it to press it back in place. Hoping to hear that pop as she then stood off of him and looked at the break. Lower down the leg, it wasn't poking out of the skin, so a bandage would be needed. Stepping out of the crevice she found a sturdy stick and tore bark off of a fallen tree. Returning to him she began to bandage it. Then checked back with his eye wound.
"That'll be good for now. Can you walk, please lean on me and I'll help you to my den. Then we can give you something for the pain and clean that. I'll need to put some disinfectant plants on your face that cut is deep." Vahva said softly. Knowing he'd be in a lot of pain, but urging him to lean against her with his bandages as she carefully pulled the cobwebs off his face.

OOC: Shay was in Whisperer's Ravine when he was injured but made his way to the Valhalla border at the Gorge, and is just sitting there hanging out when Vahva came in, rather than in the crevasse where he was injured. It's not really all that important to the post but I just thought I'd make it clearer. Also, sorry that Shay's not really good at small talk so he isn't being incredibly responsive. lol.

Shay tracked movement with his one working eye, the form of a Valhallan wolf quickly coming into full view. Interesting coloring... he was curious if it was natural or dyed that color with berries or something. He'd ask, but it seemed more urgent that he not bleed to death. "Hello," he stated as she came within hearing. He'd been debating for some time what method of greeting might be implied by this situation, but deciding that he simply did not have the requisite knowledge he'd gone with what he understood to be a fairly universal greeting. The wolf immediately began sniffing at his wounds before asking permission to touch him. "Oh, of course," he nodded, accidentally splashing blood on her as he did. Before he could decide if an apology would be appropriate for the occasion she was speaking again to warn him that she would be relocating his shoulder and that it would hurt.

"I understand," he assured her, watching as she moved off to find what she needed. She returned, laden with cobwebs, to press them against his face. He lowered his head for her obligingly, then watched turned his head as best he could to watch with his good eye as she placed her paws on his injured foreleg. She instructed him to just breathe, and he nodded as best as he could with his head in that odd position. "Yes, of course. I can do th - " His words cut off with a slightly surprised "Mmmph!" as the bone clicked back into place with a momentary overwhelming pain from the movement of the broken bones in the bottom portion of that leg, and the sudden relief as the shoulder was moved back into alignment. He barely twitched at all through it all. As she backed away to find more of whatever it was she needed, he swung the leg experimentally, nodding to himself as he discovered the return of his range of motion.

The blue-tinted wolf returned and began splinting his broken bones using bark and sticks. Shay watched the process with a great deal of interest, despite the crick he was putting in his neck to see with his good eye. She finished, and Shay moved his head to a more normal position so she could check his eye. Whatever she saw must have been good enough, because she asked him to lean against her to move back to her den. He bobbed his head. "Certainly," he agreed, making his mouth stretch into the grin he felt would be appropriate for that moment, an expression that never reached his habitually blank silver-blue eyes... well, eye, and one side of his muzzle would no longer respond when he made the attempt, so it was rather lopsided as well.

He moved to lean against her as she had asked, though he simply tucked his injured leg up to his chest and otherwise ignored the various aches and pains of his battered body. "So are earthquakes a normal occurrence in these lands?" he inquired in his usual quick nearly-monotone manner, as though the words were tripping out so hastily they had no time for any lilt to work its way in.
