Citadel snuck out of the pack once more. He’d been scolded, and grounded and growled at, but so far nothing had deterred him from his ever immense interest in the outside world. His need to explore, and see and be a part of things. Breaking the rules was also half the fun, so long as he could get away with it.

Having his parents companions on him more often than not made the whole endeavour a great deal harder, but still he tried. Today, he tried something even more daring, more crazy than usual. He had heard rumour about the battlefield, where wolves could go to test their mettle. So the pup, young and foolish as he was, ventured to that field this day.

Under the fading evening light, he stepped into the barren territory, and raised his head. Letting out a mighty (and puppyish) howl. Face me! It said.


"Citadel"

Empousa had found herself for the third time at the battlefield, she loved the thrill that sparring gave her. Her eyes searched along the honestly quite beautiful plain, it was almost peaceful if you ignored the fact that hundreds or maybe even thousands of wolves had been left bloody and scarred here, and just as many probably lost their lives here. She continued her walk listening to see if any were seeking an opponent, and as she heard a rather odd-sounding call she started heading that way. And as she found the rather small wolf that had made the call she paused, before tilting her head and looking at the pup questionably. "You.. called?" She would ask clearly a little put off by the pup, not quite sure how to handle the situation in front of her. Although, if he did confirm that he WAS the one to challenge she would be glad to help teach the pup a lesson. She would just pull her punches, and not go as hard as she had with Erebos and Enyo. She did not want to be the subject of someone's parent's wraith. "Your call if so." "Speach"

Citadel puffed up as a challenger came to answer his summons. His eyes glanced at the wolf who would be considered small by his family's standards. Taller than him, but for how long? The proud Fatalis had no doubt he would reach his fathers soaring heights by the time he was an adult. But for now, he was stuck with a gangly short body and oversized paws. Clumsy, and uncoordinated.

“I did!” He agreed boldly. “I’m Citadel Fatalis, Prince of the Armada” the words could be a mouthful for the pup sometimes, and he tried to carefully get it all out. He took her next sentence to mean the first move was up to him. He thought of his lessons with his father, with Spider, and with Wylan. Defences first. So he tucked his ears and his chin and spread his legs. He tried to look as if he was taking his time, finding the right spot with his body… and then suddenly he shot forward. Trying to move like a rocket, and almost tumbling over his stupidly large paws for his trouble. The weirdly thick bear paws were extremely difficult for the pup to work around.

So his sudden surprise attack was likely not that surprising by the time he actually reached Empousa. He aimed to slam his wee puppy weight against her right front leg, extending his claws to dig in if he was able to land that first hit.

This little pup was bold, excited and clearly enjoyed a good fight. She would not deny him one. Even if she would be slightly more gentle than if he was someone larger, aged, more experienced. As he finished his introductions she would offer him a respectful nod, "Well little Prince, I am excited to see how you fare on the battleground. I am Empousa." She would say. As he lowered to the floor she followed suit, tucking her face lower to the ground, spreading her legs, and tucking her tail to cover her vital organs. He was small so she did not want to leave too much available for him to work with. And then he was rushing?? At least he was trying to rush her, his rather clumsy display made her want to giggle at him a bit but she didn't. He would get himself figured out soon enough, she did not doubt it. She prepared for the impact, although in all honesty, it wouldn't have been a lot if he had made an impact. She sidestepped the pup, allowing the momentum to slide him inside of her legs. She would reach her head down and aim to grab ahold of his nap, gently before throwing him back a little ways. Resuming her prior position. "Again, try to be fast enough that I can't evade. Aim to hit the weight against my elbow! If you can do that you might be able to make it buckle and make me fall over. It will give you more opportunities." She spoke, she knew the pup may not listen to her advice at all. But she was always willing to help someone so young learn a thing or two. His initial strike missed, and he scowled when he was rewarded with open air instead of an impact. When she went to grab his name, he flipped his head back hard and fast. Attempting to slam the hard crystal nubs on the back of his neck against her teeth. He’d learnt the hard way that anything reverberating against teeth sucked. He hoped she got a mouthful of crystal.

The advice from the stranger did not land well, and he attempted to be unpredictable instead of following the path she expected him to take. After slamming his head back, he turned suddenly, attempting to swipe his extended cat claws against her foreleg as he moved to run through her legs and out her side. Away from the grip of her forepaws, or the rather offensive move of attempting to grab the nap of his neck. As if he was a baby. Instead of a threat!

YOWCH !! She shook her head, which felt like it was reverberating, before turning her face down to stare down the pup, and lifting her brow. This little guy was something else !! He sure did have spirit, she would give him that. She watched him as he swiped at her leg, his claws were a little sharp but she didn't move away. She might as well let him think he's doing good. She would then twist as he went out her side; her maw opening as she aimed a bite at the side of him, not hard enough to break the skin but hard enough to correct him. She would then continue through with her twist and stretch both of her forelegs out in hopes of crashing against Citadel and pulling him to the ground. Although she did have to admit he was doing better than she had expected. He was honestly a cool little dude to spar! Citadel started to growl, his frustration mounting as he tried to take on the larger, older opponent. This was nothing like the rough and tumble play fighting with his siblings, or the structured sparring lessons his family gave him. He felt her teeth in his side and he let out a snarl, whittling as quickly as he was able. Spreading his claws and the heavy set bear paws as he attempted to swipe at her face.

When he realised she was coming down on him. He suddenly tried to back away, wiggling backwards, paws still outstretched as he tried to do some damage on his way out.

Empousa would growl softly as he slashed at her face, shaking her head as she snarled at the pup. That one hurt a little, but he was learning and so she was proud of him at the same time. She was beginning to feel conflicted here. His claws managed to land a few more scratches on the back of her legs as she continued going after him to try and pin him down. Bring her right paw down and aiming to hit him square in the chest to push him onto his back. She would pull her head back too, to avoid further assaults on it as she looked down at the Prince. She would then crack a prideful smile, no matter if he somehow managed to turn the tables or not she was proud of him! He was doing good! And she had a soft spot for pups, what was she supposed to do, be mad?? She couldn't be. She would move back after whether or not she landed the hit. "You've done well so far, when you have learned more we should spar again!"
