"Speech!"

The ground had shaken and quaked all night. The first quakes had woken Iki and sent him scurrying for someone else's den. That unfortunately had been his smaller but braver brother. He didn't care that his brother's girlfriend had been sleeping there. He had pushed himself into Gav's side like a big fluffy coward. Though he didn't let Gav know he had been terrified. No he masked it with a quick saying of that he was gonna keep Gav safe from the rumble monsters.

Though the moment the rumbles had stopped and he awoke to a red sky Iki had been off to investigate. And thats what put him so far from home. His eyes were wide as they were on the spires. Did they taste like the candy from home? Did they smell good? What about the bushes here too? Were they like candy or soft? The red sky was weird. It was wrong. But onwards Iki moved. His goal was the weird spires. He just had to know.

His growling stomach had to know. Did he have any clue how to get back home either? Nope! But that was supposed to be the fun of an adventure right?

Exploring whatever the hell place this was probably wasn’t smart, but Gavroche wanted to know why it was here. Why the sky had been painted crimson, and why he could smell his brother Ikuchi on the breeze. What on earth was he doing out here? Gavroche furrowed his brow and went searching for the lug, only to have his eyes widen as they landed on his brother. “Iki don’t you freaking dare!” The pixie wolf yelled. It didn’t take a genius to realize his brother was looking at one of those spires and thinking with his stomach. Not trusting his brother to simply stop if there was a “potential” for food, Gav raced toward him in an attempt to tackle and stop him.

"Speech!"

Did he know his brother had followed him? Nope! But he padded towards one spire, its weird texture had him cocking his head at it. The ground inside it looked soft too. Would it have a weird taste too? His tongue hung out and he was about to lean for ward and taste the weird rock when Gav yelled and barreled into him.

A oof of air and surprised yelp brought itself from his lungs. And his eyes wide turned to Gav. He'd stopped him from licking the spire rock thing. But did he have to be so rough. His chunky butt laid there wide eyes on Gav before a sentence formed, probably less than intelligent to his much wiser brother. "OWWWWW! GAV!!!! I wanted to see what taste this rock candy has! its so twisty like stringy candy!" His ears folded to the sides and he stuck his bottom lip out slightly. Puppy pout, it always was a go to for more food. "The ground looks super soft top like snow!" A stretch and he was attempting to boop his brothers nose with that same paw. Though Gav had him on his ass so it could be easily avoided.

Gavroche’s tackle was successful, and a heartbeat later he was laying on his chunky brother. He breathed in relief, though his brother didn’t share in that relief. Ikuchi protested, which caused Gav to roll his eyes. “Not all rocks are candy, Ikuchi… These don’t look good to eat at all!” Was Iki even listening to him? Gavroche sighed, his brother’s paw reaching out and pressing against his snoot. He gently pushed it away.

“Come on Iki, try to take this seriously… the sky isn't normally like this, and the spikes are weird too!” The pixie moved off his brother and started to examine the spike. He dug at the ground near it, seeing how it scooped away easily. His brow furrowed as he started to see something engraved in the stone. “Iki, look at this!” Gav turned to his brother just as the wind started to blow. The air had been still before…

…and it brought with it an uncomfortable howl. Gav pinned his ears against his head and glanced at his brother. “...do you think we should call for mom and dad…?” They were old enough to adults, but Gav wasn't sure he liked this place. It reminded him of the encounter with the worm…
