The preparations had taken Flare some time. But he had built up his strength, and honed his knowledge. He knew that now was the time, and impatience had swamped him since his decision had been made. His new slave had polished his claw caps and oiled his leather armour until every part of it looked like new.

He stepped into a clearing in the Polar Sound, his red coat catching in the morning sunlight as the dire brute raised his head and let out a summoning howl. It caught on the wind that blew in from the ocean, and carried across the territory. Telling his Sultan, and the wolf who currently held the title, that he wished to challenge for the rank of Effendi- Muqatil.

"Speech"

Elysia was home with her children when a voice she didn’t recognize summoned for her. The audacity to summon and challenge for her rank was irritating coming from what she assumed was not another saxe, someone who was not her blood. Or the fact they were interrupting her time with her children; the next generation of saxe.

But nonetheless she stood and began to dress in her armor, she didn’t bat an eye as she left her children in her den and made for her challenger. Looking towards the sky she spotted her companion, he flew close to her, following her.

And when she arrived her eyes landed on a very large male with fur of soot and fire. He towered over her much like her sultan. But it was clear he was no Saxe. And that had her raising a brow in annoyance.

“Let’s get this over with” she said cutting to the chase.

Narrowing her eyes she began to roll her shoulders anticipating the fight. She’d fight with everything she had, win or lose she was going down swinging today.

He was bigger and appeared lighter to her, giving him height and likely speed, so she didn’t wait for him to strike first , instead she charged at him, fangs bared as she aimed for his front right shoulder, until she was within biting range of flare, she then feigned to the right a bit more as she’d planned and aimed to bite at his stomach.

"Ely & Ezekiel"

Flare waited a short while before a dark coated wolf stepped forward. Armoured in a strikingly similar way to him, with a spiked collar around her neck. This was it, this what he had spent the last two seasons preparing for. She sounded mildly miffed when she spoke. Did a challenge surprise her? She should be prepared for a challenge in the rank she held.

He grinned, savouring the thought of this battle, and allowed her the first move. She was small, and he wanted her to bring herself into striking range. She complied quickly enough, racing towards him. Her strike brought her close to him, head down to aim underneath him. He leaned forward and attempted to strike just before her collar with his teeth. Attempting to grab at the fur there and stop her first attack. In the same moment, one of his forepaws raised in an attempt to slash down her foreleg with the hardened caps he wore.

Elysia saw his body lean forward and had just enough time to dodge his incoming teeth, forgoing her attack she moved to get away but not quick enough as his second attack connected with her foreleg. Snarling she turned to face him now, blood running down her leg as she continued to size him up.

He leg shook a bit from the wound but her adrenaline was pumping, pushing past her pain she moved, pushing herself towards his rear, she aimed to bite into his flank with her teeth, while aiming to dig the spiked of her collar into his flesh so that if he yanks her off she’ll at least have done some kind of damage.

"Ely & Ezekiel"

Satisfaction at scoring first blood swept through him as he felt his claws scour a hit, and warmth hit the pad of his paw. Her snarling face only served to bring an answering toothy smile to his maw.

She lunged down his side, and hit his rump with her teeth before he was able to whirl. Almost gaining a mouthful of spikes as she angled her collar towards him. He was able to dodge her second strike, and aimed a clawed paw to her shoulder. Both to hold her at bay, and an attempt to scour his claws through her flesh once more. Adrenaline sang through his body as he fought the wolf.

My, how interesting. An event that Sephiran did not foresee was about to occur- Flare, a wolf Absinth brought into his pack with the promise of producing a well-rounded warrior, was challenging Elysia for her rank of Effendi- Muqatil. The male’s summon rang out across The Polar Sound, demanding Elysia meet him for battle, and beckoning the other pack members forward to watch his trump. Interesting. Interesting. Interesting. Impulsively, Sephiran abandoned his patrol and made his way toward the clearing Flare was standing in, arriving just before Elysia, to witness the battle unfold.

He selected a temporary throne to perch himself on- a jagged, large boulder, weathered by time and stained with blood- a grotesque testate to his reign. His eyes settled on the pair before him, glazed over with sadistic delight as he watched his warriors clash before him. He’s savoring the spectacle- he could almost taste the determination radiating from them, the fear of failure as they performed for their Sultan. If only this were a choreographed ballet of death.

"Sephiran Saxe"

Patrolling the borders between The Polar Sound and the Sparse Pines, Rhazien was lost in the labyrinth of his mind, immersed in deep thought as he recalled his interaction with the Armada Warlord Basilisk. Since their friendly raid, he hadn’t found the time to revisit the Warlord, to establish a true standing between their kingdoms. He needed to do it before winter returned, and they faced the trials and tribulations of the harsh season.

His thoughts are interrupted by a summon ringing out across the territory- a rank challenge, which brought a sly smirk to Rhazien’s face. How delightful. Flare was challenging Elysia for her rank- something even he hadn’t predicated. And it was an event he refused to miss.

Making his way through The Polar Sound, Rhazien arrives just as the battle is reaching its climax. He nods to Sephiran, showing respect to his Sultan before taking a seat to witness the result of the battle.

"Speech"

A rank challenge. Zagan was taken by surprise when the call rang out in The Polar sound- he’s never witnessed one before, and was intrinsically curious. And so, the young pup would make his way toward the source of the summon, allowing his raven companion to help guide him to the clearing. A male wolf he recognized, but didn’t know too well, was challenging for Elysia’s rank of Effendi- Muqatil. The lead warrior.

The clearing was crackling with tension, as if the very space around them was pulsating with the intensity of their determination. Zagan found it to be commendable, and was drawn to the sensation- wanting to feel the raw intensity of watching two warriors locked in battle. Taking a seat near his great Uncle Rhazien, Zagan settles in, excited to see who will reign victorious.



"Zagan Saxe"

Araxina was working on chewing the marrow out of a good bone when she heard the compelling call of a rank challenge! Oh! She didn't know they could do that! She made her way toward the scene where the battle was happening and saw the combatants fighting for dominance. Her eyes were alight with eagerness. Yes! With a glance at the others gathered, she determined that hell yes, they could do this! She was determined to make her mark in the pack and prove to everyone that she was just as great as the Saxes. If not better!

She was stationed across from the others, watching the fight intently. She wanted to absorb every move, see where they failed or missed, and how they got back up and scored. She wasn't going to miss this for the world.
