Shore liked fighting, yeah, but she also enjoyed collecting random objects. Things like rocks, especially pretty rocks, and animal bones, and other things like... you know, stuff. Right, yes. That's what she's doing. Escaping the boundaries of "home" (she doesn't quite feel like it's that yet) and slithers out to explore. Long, lanky, growing legs stumble once or twice, but nothing too embarrassing. Her eyes are set ahead of her, narrowed in on something near the shore. Ha, shore like her name.

Through the reeds, snapping at a few mice and ducks trying to come near, Shore practically dives for the clay. A large clump of it sticks out as if someone had been digging at it recently. Minerals? Did they eat it? Hm, interesting. The pup digs, pawing at the claw, nearly ankle deep as she tries to get a good piece of it to take back to her mama.

Not far off, a warning growl rumbles around her. High-pitched cackling begins to grow closer. Beady eyes gleam in the afternoon light, prowling closer and closer to the pup. Slobbering lips jiggle as their teeth clack together, honing in on their next snack. Shore doesn't notice, doesn't care to notice until its almost too late. Whirling around, clay in paw, slinging it through the reeds at the group of hyenas. No mongrel would kill her today.

The concept of home is a cool one. There's always going to be somewhere for Mercy to come crashing back down again, when she's done wandering and watching and seeing everything she can see. That's cool. That's good. Well and good, but so is exploring. Really, Mercy has the best time exploring. Being away from her habitat, having enrichment time out of her enclosure.

Quick and curious, as she makes her way east of home. Eating the ground beneath her paws, growing more confident with each step. She's getting good at finding her way back, so that means she can go farther. Taking in the world around her, and the lake too. Placid surface, ringed in dead and dying grasses as the winter chill would take hold soon.

It's as Mercy studies that she sees them. They make a lotta noise, and they're surrounding one of the new babies. Nope, that won't do. That won't do at all. Descending quickly and engaging with the slobbering beast closest to Shore, Mercy reaches out. Grabbing it deftly, and slinging the beast into the ground with a sickening thud. Nope, there'd be no stopping here. Snarling and snapping, it's not long before the beast is more of a red beast than hyena. Still more to go, she'll stay dialed in.
