The storm that had raged over the land, followed by a dark cloud of ash had caused mass chaos and confusion for the locals and the traveling siblings. When he took shelter in small cave from the ash, he had lost both his brother and his sister. He prayed that they were alright, but he did not know if they had even made it through the storm. When the ash thinned, and the sunlight began filtering through the clouds of gray he emerged from his cave, and found himself in a part of the land he had yet to explore, heading away from the sun, he moved to the west of the land. They hadn't looked here yet, for their father, and he could only assume that if his sister and brother were alive, they'd continue their search for the man whom they had been looking for.

Light brown hues encased the man's fur, and though he walked with a hint of sullenness, and hesitance, it would seem that he would also move with purpose. If he had lost his siblings forever, he would find their father. He would continue with what he had to do. There was no other option. The plain that he found himself on now was beautiful, and as he moved across it, he gave a light bark, breaking forward into a run, feeling the warming sun on his back as he raced forward. It felt nice to be able to breath in the air again, nice to be able to feel the sun on his back. He wondered if a pack had ever called this land home? It was surely too beautiful to be ignored. The grass would bend under his paws, still brittle from the winter, though plusher strands were beginning to push through. He came to a slower trot, and then to a walk ending finally with a halt, panting lightly. A small stream was right before him, and he drew close to it, his muzzle searching the air for any scent of danger, or a reason not to drink, before assuming its safety.

His thirst quenched, he lifted his head, turning away from the water he walked back to the shade of a young tree before lowering to his rump, to rest in the warm spring air. Surely there was no reason to rush? With any luck Vriel and Vaziel would beat him to their father, and he wouldn't have to worry about them anymore.

The Ooze Participant

Erani

Erani lazed in the sunlight, settled beside Cairo?s resting place, eyes closed as she listened to the world around her. Cormalin was hunting a meal for them and Friction?s family, and she had little to do. Since they were returning to Valhalla, and leaving this land behind soon enough, she didn?t gather herbs to stock her den. They would have to head home soon, and yet, once more, something held the old Theta back. ?Something is coming, Erani, and I want you to treasure them when you find them. Think of this as a last hope.? Words spoken by a dead love, in a dream within a dream.

Her head lifted abruptly, a small tingle thrilling through her body, ears perked. Restlessness tugged at her paws, and she rose, following the other sense, the sixth sense, in a long trot through the forested area of the old territory. She paused, one paw raised slightly, eyes scanning the open plains that made up the rest of the old territory, before turning decisively and heading toward the river. As the river flowed out into the plains, a young tree marked a bend in the watery course, and it was to that tree she headed.

She slowed as she spotted the figure stretched out in the shade, deep blue eyes alert, but the tingle pushed her on. Soon, she stood before the stranger, eyes taking him in. Luna?s breath, those eyes, and the color of his fur? If it were a shade darker, and the white markings were not there, this wolf would be the spitting image of Cairo. Her head tilted slightly. And then it made sense. This male was just old enough to have been the pups from Cairo?s first mate, the mate he?d had when she had joined his pack. No one knew where Alice had gone, only that she had vanished, pregnant with Cairo?s children. Not many had thought about it afterwards, once things had settled down.

Why was this male here now? Where was the mother? His scent carried traces of two others, a male, and a female. Where were they? Deep blue eyes lifted to scan the plains, finding no other forms, then lowered to the male again. ?I?ve been waiting for you, it seems.? Low velvet tones, accented of Scots and British.

He had just gotten comfortable, the breeze blowing against his face. He had rested his head on his white tipped paws, s soft sigh leaving him in comfort of the warm spring air, when the scent of another seemed to trickle on the air. He didn't raise his head immediately, rather he laid there, assuming the other would be on their way. It wasn't until a voice interrupted his contemplation, that he jumped slightly, his massive head lifting, light blue eyes searching for the speaker. Light blue pools would come to rest on the snowy figure of a aging white woman, and his ears flicked forward taking in her words. She was waiting for him? He pushed his front paws under him, heaving himself to his paws, before he'd turn to face her, confusion clearly etched in his features.

"I'm sorry ma'am, but I have no idea why you'd be waiting for me?" He noted the dialects in her voice and wondered if he had an accent. He questioned her, his tone not necessarily warm or cold. Rather he was confused. Other than his siblings and the various strangers that he had encountered he knew no one here, and surely aside from Vriel and Vaziel, no one would be waiting on him. A scent clung to her, one that spoke of a pack, a home, and that just made him all the more confused. Politely he'd wait for her response, but he was sure she had mistaken him for another.
