Storming in Paradise

The weather had been acting strange, he would admit. But never in his lifetime would Fugue have expected to wake up completely in the dark, completely clueless of what was going on. He shook his head and rubbed a paw across his face, wondering if he could be dreaming. Where was the sun? What was that sound... thunder??
Realization hit him like a boulder to the gut as the log blocking the entrance to his burrow was ripped away by the roaring wind. It was a hurricane! Rain pelted him hard in the face as he stepped out into what used to be his swamp. Where in the hell had this come from?
Fugue ducked his head as a large branch whizzed toward him at lightning speeds. It bately missed him, skimming his ears before it crashed into the tree behind him. He shhok his head and aimed his muzzle to the sky. The thunder roared over his head, and his golden eyes squinted as the sky flashed bright white light.
What beautiful havoc this was!
Just then, he was struck hard with hail as large as stones. Pain shot through him and he knew that he needed to leave the swamplands to find shelter before he was seriously injured. This would be a challenge.

Esperanza could hear the thunder of a distant storm not many miles away. Her emerald orbs scanned the proximity and saw a swamp, how she had gotten there was beyond her reasoning. Soon, before she could even get out of her dreaming state, a lightning bolt shocked the tree that was beside her, but barely missing her by a couple inches. Her heart raced like she had traveled the world and barely had time for rest.
She dashed through the swamp as she could hear the thunder and winds howl in hear ears. Rain and hail began to run down from the heavens, filling the swamp with more water and making it any less better to move. The sticky mud had engulfed her paws for what seemed to be a hundred times before she finally reached a well made den that appeared to have been made by the elements. She dashed inside, shaking the water and other condensation that had formed around her body before lying down as she watched the storm.
The trees whipped around frantically and the water splashed, creating large waves and ripples in the water. She had seen a few fish leaping out, but were sucked up by the water and taken down by the swamp and hail. Some lay dead and she wished she could grab one for her snack, but, deep down, she knew she would not be able to eat till the storm cleared. She got up and walked farther into the den and lied down, curling her body into a ball as her tail wrapped around, and she placed her head on her paws, closing her eyes as she listened to the storm that had been acting up outside.

Wide golden eyes evaluated the scenery in front of him searching for something that might serve as a good shelter from the storm. He already felt battered and exhausted from the pelting hailstorm that plagued the swamp lands. his mind was in a panic as his muscles frantically fought the onslaught. The voices were confused and didn't know what to think of the situation, and he felt himself developing a migraine from the madness.
After what seemed like hours in the driving rain Fugue came across a makeshift den leading into a hole in the side of a hill. WIthout a second thought he decided that this would be his shelter during this hurricane. He pushed himself inside and shook his wet pelt driving icicles all over the cave floor. JUst in the moment that he felt ready to settle in he sensed another presence in the den. Muscles tensing he allowed his eyes to adjust to the dim lighting and noticed a dark wolf with emerald eyes staring at him.
He took in a deep draw of air and settled in on the floor of the cave. Fugue turned his amber cranium toward the woman and sighed, a smile playing at his lips.
"Lovely weather, isn't it?" He stated with a grin. It was going to be a long storm.

Esperanza nodded and looked at the male wolf before her. The look of his fur in the dark resembled fire. Her form stretched as she stood up and looked at the storm. A large pain on her back hit her as she felt like she had hurt it from the hailstones that were beginning to penetrate the swamp grounds. The emerald orbs shimmered slightly from the lightning that flashed in the heavens.
"I can sense you are a rogue," She stated as she lied down beside him, not knowing if he would do anything and placed her cranium on her forepaws, sighing from seeing the damage the storm had already done to the land, but it wasn't over yet.
The cold began to shift into the den and caused her pelt to get wet, making the femme shiver from the intense, frigid ice that penetrated her form and all around she felt like she would be an icicle if this keeps up.

Fugue's smile disappeared as the female moved closer to him and lie down. Golden eyes widened in surprise at her actions. She seemed almost too willing to make herself vulnerable to a complete stranger. Did she know what he was capable of doing?
He turned his head to the dame and was about to retort on her comment of his being a rogue when she began to shiver. Ah, so her actions were purely an act of survival. He could work with that.
Auburn fur intermingled with ebony as he lie next to her and pressed his side to her flank. She was damp and freezing, just like him. Without a word he lifted his maw and rested it on her shoulder. They may not have any idea who eachother are, but he would keep them both warm until the storn came to an end.
The silence following her brief interaction with him was deafening. He could hear the voices, angry and determined, rising in retaliation against his common sense and he chose to tone them out. He would have to conversate with the woman.
"I have chosen this life for myself, yes. And this swamp as the land I call home. Why are you here?" She didn't look or smell like she belonged in a place like the swamplands. It was an odd sight to see such a lady in the middle of a storming mudpond.

"I was just going for a walk and ended up here...Trying to survive in a storm such as this...I apologize for barging in, I just needed a place to take shelter," The dame spoke truthfully as her ebony pelt continued to cause her to shiver, but only slightly this time with the help of the male by her side. Her emerald eyes looked into those of the male as a thankful smile stayed plastered on her face.
"My name is Esperanza, but you may call me Esper if you wish to," Esperanza bowed her head respectfully to the male. She did not wish for a fight with a male who knew this land better than she. Lifting her head back up, she saw the male placing his head on her shoulder as surprise appeared on the femme's facial features, but she was thankful for the male.
The storm continued to spew frigid rains, sending wind throughout the landscape. The winds began to cause the branches of trees to whip furiously, sending a few to plummet into the land's waters. Hail began to splash into the land as well, seeing a few dead fish to appear near the surface once more. The femme's mouth began to water, but she knew she would get herself hurt if she went into this type of storm. She stayed where she was and placed her head on her forepaws, giving a small huff of warm air.
"Thank you," she spoke to the male, leaving her lids open for a little while longer to watch the storm.
