Her mind had trailed off as she heard the sounds of the owls singing their melody in the distant night of the prairie. Her ebony claws dug into the foliage that bended beneath the small grass that pressed down under her paws. Her lobes perked forward as she could hear the sounds of coyotes that were tearing at the flesh of a deceased dove that had to have been dead for a couple days. Since she was a rogue, it was hard to catch a descent meal of elk or deer, but, this kill was small and she had not eaten in days.

Her form was just about to strike the kill and claim it, but she saw that one of the coyotes was pregnant with her own cubs as a smile crept across her face, backing away from the prey that would've been a good snack for her.

She had been alone for a year and it was surprising to her that she had managed to live this long. The crunching of the prairie grass beneath her paws echoed its own melody as she smiled and soon lied down next to a stream, lapping at the stagnant and frigid liquid that quenched her thirst. She placed her cranium on her forepaws and smiled. But, many sounds woke her from her sleep as her eyes looked around.[FONT=Times][SIZE=7][COLOR=red][I]

Odette hadn't been in the South too many times. Her heart would always belong to the North and the West, even though Valhalla moved to the East. She felt like a bit of her was spread everywhere except the South, but that was going to change. She had told Chrysanthe that she was interested in visiting the region of Alacritis where Epiphron lived. Curiosity would always be the reason she would explore and that was why she was there.
As she walked across the prairie, she took in all of the details that stood out. The greenery, the sounds, and the animals of various sizes that were within her range of senses. The ten-month-old made sure to stay within the foliage and not out in the open. Even though it seemed like the area was predator-free, you never knew what type of wolves were out there. Cautiously, she continued to walk, keeping her pace even as she kept exploring. It wasn't until she heard low growls and rips in the air that she halted.
Coyotes were feasting upon a carcass that was evidently a meal for a pregnant mother. Odette didn't approach, but rather avoided that piece of land all together. Her body camouflaged with the shadows of the trees and she accidentally came across an unfamiliar scent. It was by itself and she assumed the source of it was one wolf. She searched with bi-colored orbs as she looked for that said source until she came across a river bank. The female was on the other side, but it didn't deter her from slipping out of the shadows. Standing tall, Odette's eyes gave off a genetic sparkle as she sniffed the air to make sure the female was the source. Words weren't said, but she kept a gentle eye on the woman in case they were.

Esperanza could sense the fae on the other side of the stream. Her emerald optics showed kindness as she saw the bi-color orbs of the female wolf on the other side of the stream. She could sense the coyotes still there, and sensing the wolf also as she stood and to walk slowly over to the wolf that was there. Her eyes continued to focus on the female wolf and a gentle smile stayed plastered across her face.

She sat down in front of the female and continued to show kindness. When she turned back, she placed her snout inside the frigid water, bringing up a sizeable fish, placing it in front of the wolf before her, showing she did not wish to harm her. The woman could sense the coyotes were watching them and she gave a warning growl as they barked and continued onward, leaving the two wolves alone.

The kindness the stranger showed touched Odette's heart. She blinked in surprise and quickly had her tail wagging behind her. "Thank you..." she softly said, tones still filled with shock from the generous offer. Odette lowered her head to the fish and took a bite, enjoying the taste of fish that hadn't graced her tongue in a long time. She didn't realize how hungry she was until she raised her head again and saw that most of the meat was gone. Her eyes widened and she gave a sheepish grin before turning and disappearing into the woods.
She continued to avoid the coyotes as she searched for a hiding rabbit in the surrounding forest. It didn't take long to find one and she scared it out of hiding, only to finish its life with a quick snap to the neck. Odette then sauntered back to the river bank and lowered the rabbit in front of the she-wolf. "For your kindness," she explained, gaze still warm as she waited to see what the stranger would do. "My name's Odette, by the way."

Esperanza smiled and shook her head for the offer, "I do this for others, I ask for nothing in return. Since you killed it, I would like you to have the rabbit." The femme bowed her head in respect to the young she-wolf as she looked into the bi-colored optics of the she-wolf, smiling still, "My name is Esperanza, but those I meet have called me Esper for short."

She nudged the deceased rabbit to the young female wolf and turned her head to the stream, lapping at the frigid water that began to quench the thirst that she had been feeling in her gullet.
