Oceanic hued eyes would gaze longingly up at the crying grey sky. Raindrops of gentle proportions would fall all over the territory of Seracia, every now and then one would err and hit his dusty colored fur. Shaking his head sadly Elias would retreat from the open barn door and deeper into its depths. Still his curious gaze would be kept upon the drizzly outside, he was unsure how the rest of the pack was able to be out in such dreary weather. It was all grey and there was certainly no snow left. He definitely preferred the gentle white flakes to the assaulting water droplets. So, with a chip upon his shoulder the boy would pout sadly in the barn, unable to even follow his brother out. He was beginning to despise the rain.

Paranoia and fear had been keeping the young Seracian pup from the red barn that stood within the Range beside the field. She had never received any form of confirmation about the monster that dwelled within, but the lack of evidence against it was enough to keep her believing and keep her away. It was just unfortunate the weather had a mind of its own and the clouds she had paid little attention to on her trip to the field had decided to open up after she had gotten there and started to turn her playground into a dirty, muddy mess. Mother will throw a fit if I come home dirty. And with that thought in mind Anais knew she needed to take cover.

Naturally she had turned back from the field and made for the forests that bordered it with the hopes that the rain would let up soon. The path she had chosen brought her past the barn which she stared at as she walked by, still keeping it at a distance. Though her steps within the presence of the barn were hesitant, she was resolute on her path, at least until her yellow-gold eyes found themselves staring into the open barn door. Shelter! Inside the barn.

Anais hesitated. The barn was off limits, not because any of the adults said so but because she was still somewhat expecting there to be a monster inside. But maybe if I stay right there at the opening... That was hardly too far inside, right? Nothing to alert anything over, surely? Not to mention it was closer to the field; if the weather got better she would be that much closer. Still wary, the gold-grey youth began making her cautious way for the open doorway, pausing at a distance and craning her neck to ensure that it was safe and clear before she crept steadily closer and left the damp outside for the dry within.

The last thing she anticipated to see was another pup. Stopped just inside, dripping wet from the rain outdoors, Anais stared wide eyed at the male pup, her thoughts racing to put together what this meant for the story she had been told. "Is it safe in here?" she asked at a whisper, eyes roving though she remained still in her place.

As his head rested upon his paws in disappointment his bright blue gaze would fall upon another pup. Dusty ears would perk up in attention at the odd sight, he didn't see many younger wolves running around. This one seemed kind of interested in their barn, she seemed to want to approach. His head would lift and tilt slightly as she brought herself into the barn wearily, then at him. Her eyes were wide with uncertainty as she asked him a simple question, "Is it safe in here?" His brows would furrow slightly because he wasn't sure if she was serious, "'Course it's safe! Momma makes sure every night!" he would inform her dramatically. Didn't everyone know where he lived?
He would push himself from the packed earth and walk a little closer to her. He didn't know her name but she was obviously part of the pack, he'd seen her at the meeting at least. A smile would fall on his lips as his tail wagged back and forth a bit. Since he assumed she didn't want to be out in the rain either maybe she'd want to play with him! But he wasn't any good at thinking up games, that was more Nizhoni's forte. "why'd you come in here anyway? Why were you out in the rain?" His head would tilt again as his voice became more inquisitive towards the girl. "Oh! And umm. What's your name?" His tail would thrum faster, "I'm Elias!"

The other pup seemed entirely surprised by her question, and his confusion only worsened her own. His answer, at least, was in the affirmative, even going so far as to say an adult - his mother - made sure of the barn's safety, but even hearing that Anais could not bring herself to calm and relax completely. What if it was there and no one knew? What if it was just really good at hiding? What if it had a secret way in? Her yellow-gold eyes roamed around what she could see of the barn from her position, the unfamiliar features of the barn foreign and strange but nothing apparently dangerous. Still, it was better than being out in the storm, not to mention there was company here and maybe even backup if the monster did show itself. Maybe she could make the most of it.

He smiled as he approached her, the casualness that he exuded easing a bit of her worries, and quick questions helped further distract her from them. "I was out playing in the field," she answered with a quick glance over a shoulder and into the rainy world just outside the barn doors. "But then it started raining and mom was going to get mad if I got all muddy." And Tahlia might have been nice recently allowing her children the freedom to roam the territory unsupervised but she still expected them to maintain a decent appearance, just as she did.

Returning her attention back to the smiling, tail-wagging youth, Anais all but forgot the monster she was supposed to be afraid of and instead found herself smiling and wagging her tail slightly. The boy introduced himself as Elias and asked for her own name, and the grey-gold pup answered readily, "I'm Anais. Nice to meet you." She shook herself quickly to try and rid her damp coat of the rainwater that still clung to it before taking a couple steps further inside, curious stare beginning to wander again. "Do you live in here?" she asked in sudden bewilderment, still piecing together what she had been told with what she knew. Was the barn really safe enough for wolves to live in it?
