Yang's paws glided over the snow that very lightly coated the ground. Although he was very high up, the hot weather in this part of Alacritis stops the snow from falling too heavily. The ebony male was clear against the contrast kf the white snow, well, apwrt from his tail which just blended in. The male had wandered up here for some peace of mind. War had been rsging in Alacritis for months now, and it was all Yang could do to stay away from it. The man hated conflict, but if it was for a good cause he would join. The knly problem was that he had his sister to think about. If something happened to him then who would be there to look after her?

As Yang settled himself at the edge of a meadow, a nagging at the back of his mind brought itsf to attention. It was onr that he had thought of very often. The beautiful Gretel. He hadn't seen her in a long while. He wanted to see her. A feeling of danger had come to Yang whenever he thouhht of her, and it made him uneasy. Was something wrong? Did she make it out of that storm? Where is she now? With these thoughts, Yang made a plan. He would go looking for Gretel first thing in the morning. Even though they had only met once, he felt a little protective over her. He had to make sure she was okay, and if not he would help her. With his plan firmly in place Yang looked to the late evening stars, blue eyes glowing.

There was a guilty nagging tugging at her, telling her that if Hansel awoke now it would only lead to panic and despair for him, after all she had told him that she wasn?t going to be leaving his side, not for a while anyways. But? well she needed some time to really collect her thoughts; everything had been so hectic since her brother had saved her that bloody day. She had slipped as quietly as she could manage from the den she and her brother were sharing at the moment and slunk unseen over the Tortugan boarder. She wasn?t sure where she was going, still she moved with caution and quick steps.
The poor girl was unaware of the death of her former mistress, her former slaver. Her scars itched at the thought of it, her time spent in the cramped, dark metal den below Canttina?s had been a nightmare and now she would forever carry the signs of her abuse. She did not know where she was going, just making sure that she would be able to find her way back to the pack lands before her brother noticed she was gone.
A scent was steadily filling her nose, one she remembered, though vaguely. Frowning she picked up her pace following it, the sounds of a waterfall growing louder as she followed it. The scent angled away some from the cascade and she followed it into a meadow. Forest green eyes would rove over the horizon till she caught a form, one with deep blue eyes. She couldn?t stop staring then, unable to make herself move, worry flooding through her. What if it was a trick and she was now looking at one of Canttina?s bitches, sent to fetch her back?

Yang stopped. A scent filled his nose. It was the one . The one hs was looking for. Gretel's. His ears swivelled, searching for an identifying sound. Finally his ears latched on to muffled pawsteps. He turned around to face the approaching for. His eyes locked on to the form and his eyes lit up. It was Gretel! She was okay! Was she? Were those scars he could see? What had happened? Taking a step forward, he hesitated. Looking into her deep green eyes, he saw, fear? What was wrong? What caused her to fear him? Didn't she recognize him? He called out warily. Gretel? It's me, Yang! Are you okay? Do you remember me? he wanted to say.

Panic was flooding through her, where once she would have approached with caution but friendly enough now she was a woman broken, the scars of her torment in plain sight, for all to see. The form would move, towards her. Instinct was taking over, her tail tucking between her legs, ears folding back and she began to retreat. A voice would rise from the form, and though she heard it, it would take a moment before the words began to take root in her mind. The first thing thought was mercifully that she need not panic. The voice was distinctly male, that calmed her some, as far as she was aware the skulled bitch had not had any men in her matriarchy.
Then the name hit her and she lifted her gaze some, though she avoided direct eye contact. She breathed a sigh of relief, her tail uncurling some, though she did not raise it and her ears pulled forwards again. ?Yang? Yeah.? She forced a small chuckle, though it sounded pretty fake, ?I?m fine.? She took a slow single step forwards, though she would not close the distance between then beyond that? old habits would die hard and she was much too scared. She was all too aware that without her brother around it would be all too easy for Canttina to take her back.
