Arayne intended to remain a nomad for as long as possible, seeing all the sights that this land had to offer, but even a nomad needed somewhere they could rest every now and then. She had settled on such a place, a tumble of stones and ruins that reminded her comfortingly of her dilapidated garden back home. The once-grand arches and buildings were crumbling and weatherworn, but she liked it all the same.

A small patch of grass in the lee of one of the large stones had been turned into a comfortable nest, and she had left a small scent mark to mark the patch as hers. Not the whole ruins, of course, she didn't intended to stake out the entire area.

Once her little nook was complete, she stepped away, letting the cool night air work it's way into her fur. Nights were never something she had feared. She felt safe and protected when cloaked in shadow. Overhead, the stars were coming out, cascading across the sky like diamonds. She hopped onto a low-lying stone, then stretched out and rolled onto her back, looking up at the display. Winter's chill was evident in the slightly cool breeze, but she doubted that this region would ever fully succumb. She would enjoy it for now.

She had been watched from her post, a wolf waltzing right into her home, stinking up a patch before laying on it. What the hell did it think it was doing, this was hers! Narfi would snort, pushing herself up onto all four limbs, turning her back and hopping her way down. She had been here since she was very young, knew the place like the back of her paw. No way would she just let somebody try and claim a part of it.

She took the back way down, weaving in and out of the crumbling structure, taking secret tunnels she knew about. The wolf would probably have scented the yearling, but she wouldn't spot her just yet. No, wolves only saw Narfi when she wanted them to.

For a few minutes the girl would vanish, only to suddenly reappear. The wolf landed roughly, from the sound of it but smoothly, on a stone just a few feet above where the wolf lay looking to the sky. Her head would be over the edge, staring down with grey and green eyes, narrowed on the wolf. "What do you think your doing?" She growled in a low tone, almost threatening.

True, Aurora had caught Narfi's scent, but she had assumed it was old. The territory was neutral (as far as she knew), wouldn't others pass through? She had been naming constellations when female's head entered her field of vision, snarling at her and demanding to know what she was doing. Arayne had already blundered into other's territory before, but she was getting sick of being chased out. She rolled back onto her stomach, surveying the black female with both annoyance and suspicion. "Uh, stargazing?" she replied. She was reminded of meeting Cattina in her ship den, and getting a similar reception. Was every relatively nice place staked out here? She hadn't found any scent marks.

While she had behaved submissively towards Cattina, at least at the start, she refused to let herself be cowed by this stocky brat. She was a princess, after all.

Eyes remained narrowed on the shewolf below, waiting for her response. Narfi had claimed this as her home, her companion was here before her! Why were wolves trying to take her second home? It was annoying the girl! She would not allow this! Within seconds though the wolf would roll over and give a look Narfi expected, annoyance and suspicion. Why was she suspicious though, she came upon owned land, somebody was already living here.

At her response Narfi would raise her head, blowing air through her nose, tail swaying slowly behind her. "Stargazing." She would say simply, raising a brow as she threw a glance up at the sky for a brief moment before turning her mismatched eyes back on the woman. "Did you not scent and see the markers wolf?" She would ask, motioning her head towards a tree nearby with slash marks deep in the bark.

Arayne turned her head to look at the scratched tree, then back at the wolf, matching her raised eye brow with one of her own. "No," she responded, "because where I come from, wolves don't mark their territory like bears do." Normally rather noncombative, she was fed up with being pushed around, and was putting her paw down. She wasn't leaving.

It wasn't like they couldn't share the territory anyway. She doubted there was any real prey around, so they weren't fighting over sustenance, just bedding areas. And pride, she thought, sizing up the wolf in front of her. It would be unlikely that either of them would simply back down.

ooc: So sorry for the wait.

"Must be filled with idiots then. These are easy to see and the ground shows obvious signs of constant paws moving around." She would raise her head, the fur along her nape and base of her tail slightly rising. From where she stood she could already see the woman sizing her up, Narfi would fight for this spot if she had to, it had become her home after the other vanished. She would not be a coward.

"It seems you will not leave easily, how bout a fight wolf?" Lips would rise to show those canines of hers, a spark in her eyes. "Loser leaves this place for the night." Body would turn, hopping down onto a jutting out wall, still a good couple of feet from the ground, gaze going back to the woman.

Arayne snorted dismissively. "Who's to say a dozen wolves don't pass through here when you're away? Those pawprints could have come from anyone." She smirked as the other wolf challenged her to a spar. "Sounds like a plan to me." she responded. Heck, maybe she'd turn out to be a better fighter than she thought she was. Even if she lost, she'd just have to find a new place to sleep.

She hopped down from her stone slab onto the ground, shaking out her mantle of fur. She lowered her head so it was level with her spine, and did the same with her tail, although the tip was raised in a dominant (and taunting) gesture. Her claws dug into the ground, but she crouched slightly, ready to leap away, and flattened her ears. Her shoulders went forward to protect her throat, and as she looked up at the other wolf, she scraped the ground with one hindpaw. "Come on then! Show me what you're made of!"

Arayne vs Narfi for territory
0/3 (if that number is okay)
Attacks: None
Defenses: Neck/tail down and straight, crouched, claws dug into ground, ears down, shoulders forward
Injuries: None
