It was rather adventurous of Canta to be out at this time of night. The ebony pup had been unable to sleep that night before and so she had stepped carefully and silently out of the den, careful not to touch any of the sleeping forms of her family. Once outside she found herself dazzled by the strange glowing she could see on the horizon. Quick, curious strides took her towards the light; it was one of the many water ways that ran through the pack lands. By day it had only been water in a stream now however?
Canta lowered herself onto her stomach at the shore of one of the brightly glowing streams; she hesitated slightly before dipping her paws into it. The water was cool but didn?t seem harmful. Canta couldn?t be sure if the water was glowing or if something else was. The whole of the grove seemed to be flooded with light. Canta had decided that, maybe it was worth it to explore beyond the den more often.

There was a change in the atmosphere of the den. Dhiren could tell this even as he was sleeping next to Song. Curled up in her warm embrace, he didn't want to stir from the slumber that had been playing with him for most of the night. Now, as he attempted to sniff the air in his sleep, he took notice of one scent missing. Canta.. Immediately, Dhiren's eyes opened and bi-colored orbs looked around the den. With a blurry gaze, he struggled in his sleepy mind where his sister could have possibly gone. When he figured that he had to get up, Dhiren gave a silent groan. Really?
The miniature copy of Cherokee silently rose from his curled up place next to Song. He looked longingly at his mother's sleeping form, wishing he was still in that place of tranquility, too. However, the desire to find his sister was more important, so he ignored his wants for more sleep and exited the den. Dhiren briefly remembered the last time he had left the den unaccompanied by either parent. Song had freaked out and Cherokee...he hadn't really said anything about it to his mother. It had been an unusual turn of events, but after that day, Dhiren made sure to keep the peace by having either parent with him. Not this morning, though.
Dhiren immediately began sniffing the air, catching onto his dear Canta's scent without trying more than once. He followed her unseen trail and it led him to the stream that flowed nearby. It wasn't too far from the den site, thank goodness, so his paws didn't have to take him too far. As Canta was admiring the way the water moved and made lights, Dhiren came up to the right side of her with a stern gaze only an older brother could give. "Canta." He simply stated, tones filled with relief and a slight hint of surprise. "What are you doing out here?" The question could have answered itself if Dhiren had simply looked at the water, but alas, he missed it.

The shadowy girl could not say just how long she had been laying there, watching the flickering of the lights, dancing across the surfaces of her home. How had she not seen these before? Canta had woken in the middle of the night before, and even had nights in which she had had trouble sleeping but from within the den she had not been able to see the ever shifting glowing. Canta knew her brother was coming up behind her but chose instead to keep forest eyes on the ever moving lights, utterly enchanted by them.
It wasn't until he spoke that she tore her gaze away to look at him, he resembled their father so much. With sigh and shake of her head she swung her muzzle back towards the water. "Dhiren look." It caused a little smile to break across her face to realize that she had discovered this first. To her puppy mind it was a big achievement that deserved to be celebrated at least a little bit.

He was so caught up in the big mystery reason that Canta had left the den that it took him a minute to realize what she was looking at. Dhiren let his mind slow down and then took in the gentle voice of his sister. His ears perked at her instruction and then his head turned. Lowering to his black haunches, Dhiren's bi-colored eyes met the water that slowly moved on its own. With the light above from the moon, it was definitely a majestic sight.
"Wow..." The water's light reflected in his silver and gold eyes, shimmering with delight as he took them in, too. He rested his head against Canta's shoulder, entranced by the simplicity of the beauty. "Canta...this is amazing." It was all he could say at that moment, eager to let it last for a long time. "You found this, too...I hope you find more stuff like this." His tail thumped against the ground, leaving small imprints around his hind paws. His white ear perked and he listened to the crickets that were gently singing in the background. All in all, the atmosphere was lovely.
