Maybe it had been a mistake to come here without Alessa. She would probably hate him when they met again for making this move without her, after they had decided to do it together. He just couldn't handle the thought of involving her in his problems, though. She didn't know all of his past or his motives for joining a pack here. She didn't have any idea what she would be getting herself into. He needed to do this alone, or at least, mostly alone.

At his side stood his marten companion Smee, his faithful sidekick through anything and everything. He couldn't have been happier than when the creature followed him on that first day he met Alessa. Smee had helped him save her that day at the lake, and had been at his side during his first spar since becoming injured. They were like family now, and it was almost as though he hadn't lost that part of his life after all. Almost as though he could move past it. Almost.

Here at the Amenti border, he called for someone to come. He only hoped that the leader here would welcome them both and help him achieve his one and only goal - revenge.

An unexpected call came from the borders, touching the Madame's pale ears. The voice was one that was vaguely familiar to her, but it was not one that she had heard in some time and not one that she could place with a name. She glanced at her children, who were all doing their usual puppy things. She felt confident that they were safe within her pack's territory, besides the fact that Dempsey was always somewhere nearby. With that in mind, she turned toward the voices and trotted off to greet whoever it was that called for her.

It took her a minute or two to reach the brute, but she had more or less regained the figure she had before she became pregnant so it was no problem for her to hurry over to him, still reaching him in a timely manner. When her amethyst gaze fell on him, her memories wandered back to the very beginning of her pregnancy, when she was still enraged at her situation and even a little at Bane for causing it. He had been the brute she had fought that day to relieve her anger. It had done the trick and now she had five beautiful children that the got to raise happily.

She slowed to a stop in front of him, a soft smile touching her muzzle. She glanced to his companion and back to the red-eyed brute, saying, "Well, well, hello again, Killian. I never expected to see you here, at the border of my pack, of all places. But, none of the less, it's good to see you again. What can I do for you?"

Smee noticed her first, jumping gracefully from Killian's back to stand beside his master. Killian glanced at the marten, observing his bow, before looking up to meet the gaze of the female that approached. He knew her, from the day she had answered his call for a spar. Ruby eyes widened in surprise at her approach, but only momentarily. He dipped his head low to the ground in greeting. Hello to you too, Alena.

Taking a moment to look her over, he noticed the differences from their last meeting. Most obvious was her lack of pregnancy, which made him wonder where her young were while she was greeting strangers at the border. Next he took note of her demeanor. When they had met, the girl had been in need of venting about her condition. Now she seemed happy, regal even. It was just as surprising to him to see her leading a pack as it must have been for her to have him waltz into it.

Well, I never expected to see you leading any pack I sought to join either, he stated with a chuckle. Smee and I are here because we are looking for a more permanent home, and from what I've heard your pack may just be the right one.

The pale assassin listened to Killian's reasoning with interest, a pleasant smile crossing her muzzle. A home, eh? Her mind went back to the spar the two of them had shared, remembering how the dark hued brute had been a good fighter. That was something Amenti certainly needed, besides the fact that Amenti simply needed more members. The looked to the little creature at Killian's side with brief curiosity before looking back up to the red eyes of its master, wondering how the pair came to be together. Perhaps she would ask one of these days, but for now more important matters needed her attention.

"Well, I'm glad that Amenti seems like such a good choice for you. I like to think it's a good place to live and I hope you will too. I would be happy to welcome you into our ranks, Killian." She paused with a smile, giving him a gentle, welcoming dip of her head. There are few rules to follow here. All I ask is that you do what you can to help the pack and to never start trouble with other packs. If you do, you will be demoted to the lowest rank. Also, if you attack a member of Amenti without good reason, you will either be demoted or banished. All in all, just keep out of trouble and help out when you can. Not too difficult, yes?

The constant curiosity that glimmered behind her amethyst gaze came to the surface as she asked, "I do wonder, however, what made Amenti appealing to you as a more permanent home to you and your little friend here? I only ask because I am always on the hunt for new members and I wonder what I could do to make Amenti appealing for others as well."

The brute sat back on his haunches as he absorbed Alena's words, considering each one at a time. They didn't seem too hard to follow. He wasn't one for stirring up trouble, especially in Alacritis. However, he did hope that the rule about other packs applied only to those in this land, as he had big plans for the fate of his former home. But that was in the future, and nothing to worry about now.

Amenti does indeed sound like a wonderful place to live, he replied with a smile. And your rules don't sound like too much trouble at all. He glanced down at Smee, glad they had found somewhere to live.

Her question cause him to tilt his head slightly to the side. He was unsure how to answer for a moment. Killian had never considered his exact reasons before. It had just seemed right. Well, to be honest, Amenti seemed like a pack with just the right balance of freedom and structure. Others seem to struggle to find that balance and very few ever achieve it. The whole idea was very appealing to me, though.
