Even in the warmth of summer, Glaciem's territory was fairly chilly. However, that didn't stop a certain white female from setting off, wandering through the forested lands of her new home with an adventure in mind. These plains were exactly the kind of place where an adventure could be found! In these shadows, another wolf could be lurking, just out of sight! A thrill raced through the female at the thought, and she spun in a swift circle, only to be assured that nothing lurked within the shadows - within her range of vision, anyways.

But that wouldn't ruin Irin's fun. She was on an adventure, after all! These woods would surely contain all kinds of secrets! Maybe if you drank from one spring in particular, it would grant you the ability to commune with all animals. Or maybe the plain never ended. Maybe Irin would be stuck here forever, always seeking the boundary of the plain that Glaciem inhabited. The thought wasn't particularly odious to the female, who adored Glaciem's territory, but she let her mind skim quickly over it and settle on something properly adventurelike; seeking any evidence of anything being out of the ordinary.

It didn't take Irin long to find her gaze settling on a misshapen print in the ground. It could have been caused by any number of things, but Irin's mind immediately jumped to the most logical; that this print had obviously been caused by a creature seen by no other wolf before. Irin was immediately on the hunt, sinking into a crouch and prowling forward, ears pinned against her skull and her tail dragging lightly against the ground as she locked in on the scent and tracked it carefully. The fact that it was simply the scent of an elk hardly bothered the female. Obviously, this strange creature was masquerading as something else to evade detection!

Glaciem. That was the name of the pack that his father Isardis now held power over. It didn't surprise the young man that such a man like his father would hold power over his own group of wolves; he seemed to be the kind of man made to be a King. The ghost of man had come back to the pack of his mother, come searching for the young Taurig, claiming that he needed more wolves to add to his ranks, warriors in specific. The boy was perfect for the job, but rather hesitant about leaving the home he had always known with his mother to go off with a father who the only thing he knew about was his name. His parents had conversed, and in the end, his mother had convinced him, as well as his father, that going on to Glaciem would be a good thing. His birth pack had warriors to spare. They could deal with sparing one of their own. And so the young man had taken the opportunity, bidding farewell to his mother in exchange for his new life in Glaciem.

And what a life it was. They had plenty of females in their pack, but half of them were warriors like him, though not many rivaled him in size. They were fierce women, not ones to be trifled with. But all the women in his new pack, or at least from what his father had told him, were nothing like the ones back home. These females were much more delicate, less of the warrior type and more the breeding type. According to Isardis. It was certainly strange, but nothing the grey-blue lad couldn't take on. After all, he had agreed to come here, to serve underneath his father as a loyal warrior and he would not go back on his word. He didn't think life in Glaciem would be too bad. Isardis had made it sound like it was a pretty good life, but the young man would have to decide for himself once he'd spent a good amount of time within the new lands.

Today was one of his first days in the northern, snowy land. The landscape came as no shock to Taurig, his home rather similar in climate to this new place. Though he could feel summer nipping at the edges of the territory, the wintery chill of the mountains would not be chased away and not even the harshest glare of the sun could completely melt away the permanent snow. His father hadn't exactly told him what his duties as a warrior were to be yet or even when he was going to start, so for now the young man had resigned himself to familiarizing himself with the landscape until further notice.

Inky limbs carried the young Blood through the terrain that was Glaciem, icy eyes dancing over the snow dotted landscape, dark nasals working to identify and catalog all the new scents, including those of the many females that took residence within his pack. Like the one that he smelled now. Figuring it would be a good idea to acquaint himself with all the women, the boy set forward at an easy lope, powerful muscles rippling beneath his grey-blue coat, gaze coming across the ivory figure of a woman up ahead, seeming to be tracking something that he wasn't aware of. Taurig slowed down to a gentle walk, curious gaze on the woman as he cleared his throat, hoping to catch her attention and alert her to his presence lest he startle her.

isardis

She were an oddity of curiosity, amused rubies following the sallow vixen with pleasurable humour; darting athwart as the angel would saunter towards her, bemused by her theatrical efforts. Originally the king would suppose she were simply honing her skills, training her body and mind, or perhaps just fooling about? Though as he would near, the light scent of an elk would tickle his pipes, curious gape wandering the striking sallow?s of the diminutive little vixen; were she a hunter, or simply a theatre-player? Though the show would be interrupted, the colossal frame of his distant son meandering towards the stalking banshee with palpable interest. A pleasured smirk would tweak cherry lips, limbs gliding the monster onwards, bringing himself to the direct company of the pair where he would cease barely an invasive meter from the maiden, ruby gaze flicking fluently between them. ?Quietly now, Taurig, the huntress is on to something,? near-sarcasm would play within his tones, tongue lashing proudly at pale lips as he would draw a step closer to his familiar brood, nostrils reaching curiously, temptingly towards her, ?What is it, darling?? a dim chuckle would tumble the caverns of his jaws.

Her prey was coming closer. Irin twitched her ears, dropping a little lower into her crouch until her stomach was practically dragging the ground. You never knew with monsters as tricky as these what they could or couldn't see, and Irin didn't exactly blend in perfectly with her surroundings. Her starkly white fur contrasted sharply with everything around her, which would make it easy for the mysterious monster to notice her unless she managed to make everything just righ--what was that?

The sound of a throat being cleared made Irin jolt, her head swinging sharply in the direction of the sound, relaxing minutely at the sight of a black wolf. Maybe this was the monster! Perhaps Irin had stumbled across the mysterious creature already and it had taken the form of a wolf so that she wouldn't attack it.

Completely ignoring the fact that he smelled of Glaciem, and was surely a member of the pack, Irin was formulating several wild theories when her King spoke, making Irin start once more. "Why, it's a monster of course." A smile flickered across the white female's features as she examined the two wolves. Taurig, she committed the name to memory with a twitch of her tail, "It's disguising itself as an elk, but it can't fool me!" There was a hint of childish joy in Irin's voice as she spoke. After all, she wasn't that far removed from being a child, at only a year and a half in age.

Perhaps that explained why her imagination was so wild. Of course, that probably wasn't the kind of thing that would fade with age. She simply couldn't imagine the world without it being painted as wildly as it was in her mind. It would be so boring otherwise.

He stood quietly after having cleared his throat, wondering if the little woman would hear him or if she was too far gone in her hunting mode to notice him. She was crouching lower into her stance, stalking a few paces forward as her belly brushed against the ground when he interrupted her, his throat clearing having startled her. She whipped around, almost as if to attack him, but the realization that he was a fellow wolf stopped her from doing so. Or maybe it because he was a fellow Glaciem and not a rogue looking to bring her harm. But before he could apologize for his having startled her, a familiar scent tickled his senses; Isardis. His father and King of Glaciem. Icy gaze darted from the ivory woman to the pale figure of his father as he came to stand beside him, ebony dipped ears pressing forward with attention to his father's words, catching the sarcasm woven into the words. A smirk curled his dark lips at Isardis' words, appearing as if he too was amused by her seemingly bizarre and child-like antics. His father didn't seem like the type of man who respected woman as much as Taurig had been taught to back in his birth pack, so the Blood was cautious about how he acted around his fellow packmates in the presence of his father.

The young woman was ignorant to the sarcasm used by his father, a smile tugging at her pale lips as she proclaimed that what she had been hunting was a monster, disguising itself as an elk so that she couldn't find it. He wasn't sure if she was purposely acting in such a childish way or if this was how she really was. It was utterly confusing, but he did not voice his confusion, instead standing beside his ghost like father, silent as a statue, only his eyes darting between the two figures.

Perhaps he should have expected such a response, based upon the woman's somewhat awkward social excretions. Her stomach would be pressed so confidently to the earth beneath her, as if she were afraid to lose her target, fearing even the slightest fray of her attention; perhaps as if her prey were somehow aware of the thoughts that spun her mind, crystallised her vision. The babe was young, though surely the brilliant existence of fantasy realms and purple monsters had long since departed the folds of her mind? Apparently not.

The King would chuckle, a weak effervescing fizzing from cherry lips. Extensive tail would swish idly, stroking the sentiment that sprawled beneath his pallid magnificence. It would only be then that a gasp of mock shock would taint snowy features, elbow joints shifting, whining beneath his weight as he would crouch momentarily, "A monster? In disguise?" He would struggle to remain void of muse, "And how do you suggest we take this monster down, little huntress?" Chuckles would break free of shuddering jaws, forelimbs regaining posture beneath him, a bemused glance cast to the proud stature of his silent son.

She was to be oblivious to the amusement that seemed to be shared between the two wolves. Of course, even if Irin had noticed it, she would't have changed her behaviors. She knew, on some level, that these things weren't real; Irin wasn't delusional, not by a long shot, but it was more interesting to believe than to accept that the world contained nothing more than what it showed on the surface. What was the difference between the beliefs that Irin held and the beliefs that many wolves clung to of an afterlife? To Irin, there was none. They didn't seem foolish to her.

Slowly, Irin straightened to gaze attentively at her king and Taurig. "Indeed," She answered Isardis gravely, her tone entirely serious. "Well, we have to take care of it so that it doesn't hurt the rest of the pack." Irin spoke solemnly, inclining her head slightly, "How do you two feel about going hunting for monster?" Here, the female cracked a grin for the first time since she had begun to address Isardis, her eyes bright with the prospect of a challenge. With the help of the mighty Isardis and his mysterious follower Taurig, they could surely handle whatever the monster had to throw at them!

Taurig had become like a silent statue of grey-blue marble, even his icy eyes appeared to be carved from the very ice that covered most of the northern landscape. He would've been having an actual conversation with the young woman before him, but since his father had come onto the scene, the Knight had decided to keep his jowls shut, preferring to merely observe the interaction between his father and the young woman. Better for him so he could know how Isardis acted around his Brood, to know what to do and what not to do.

His father was very much amused at the young woman's way of thinking and Taurig reflected the sentiment, only the corners of his dark lisp upturning in a small smirk. Part of him really did think it was amusing, but then again he didn't know what the reasons behind her imaging were, so he thought it best not to make fun of her. Indeed. Well, we have to take care of it so that it doesn't hurt the rest of the pack. How do you two feel about going hunting for monster? She spoke solemnly but after the last word fell from her lips, those lips cracked into a smile. Clearly the idea of hunting a monster amused the woman. Taurig turned his icy gaze towards his father, waiting to see what the pale King would say.
