Awaken worked his way up onto the shore, pantong from the long swim, fighting currents and things. He shook the water from his fur splashing it everywere. He'd been out of the packlands for afew days scouting areas for his pack to move. Technicaly they weren't a pack anymore, tney didn't have ranks or a certain place to live. More of a nomadic family of rouges who knew no rules. None the less they needed a place to live for the moment.?

He looked around noticing the beautiful plant life. Many colorful flowers and creatures such as colored frogs and lizards. Things his mate could use in her healing and things he could use in his poisons. But plants werent as important as the three main things he was looking for. Food supplies, fresh drinking water, and shelter. The salt water definately wouldn't suffice for fresh water. He'd never alow his pups to drink that!

He kept plowing through the thick forest searching for deer or elk or something to feed a large pack. No such thing as too much food. ?He noticed what looked like an enormous flower on the ground. He lowere his nose inspecting it. The petals were huge and red, however, the inside was full of water. He looked around seeing an abundance of these plants. Well water was check, now to find food and shelter.

Dripping wet and fighting mad, Rotterdam Miklos was anything but pleased to have swam so far. Granted, water never really bothered him to begin with, but long journeys did. The hulking behemoth stalked along the shoreline, wondering if his swim had even been worth it to begin with. What if there were no women here? Worse.. what if it was full of men? So far all he saw was a large expanse of white sand and boulders, and a treeline in the distance that promised good hunting. It would be then that he remembered he'd brought his hunter with him. Had she survived the swim? Twisting his head back he found her figure not far off. "Let's go, woman." Into the forest he would go, with full intent of Maija chasing something down for him to hunt. The trees were sparse at first, but quickly thickened into a dense jungle. How quaint. Occasionally he would twist his head back to be sure that the woman was following along with him. If she strayed he would not be pleased. Tail flicked between his haunches restlessly. "Do you think there will be food on this godforsaken island?" To be honest, Dragomir might have really liked the island, but Rotterdam was in no state to 'like' anything. However, a figure loomed before him, distracting him from his last question. Immediately he drew forth, keeping to the shadows to prevent being seen. It was, after all, nearly impossible to see a melanistic wolf in the shadows. A haunting smile broke across his lips, flashing pearly white in a beam of light. He emerged from his place of hiding and announced himself with a guttural noise similar to a growl. "Do you live here?" Tones were almost innocent - almost.

If it wasn't for her love for his alter ego, she wouldn't have followed the nightmare of a wolf to the island. The swim that was required between the main continent and what lay ahead of them wasn't that bad. Secretly, she enjoyed the exercise and the water that challenged her powerful muscles and toned form. It was a nice change from the frequent runs that were required for the chases of her and Drago's dinner. She closed her eyes, took in a deep breath of air, and sank under the water's surface. Her leaf green gaze flashed open and she looked down at the life that carried on as she passed. The curiosity for the underwater critters didn't last long. Her paws found the ground that stretched under the surface and soon she resurfaced.
Maija stepped onto the fresh grass and shook all over. Her fur still clung to her body as she slowly paced towards Rotterdam. His brisk and rough command made her ears flatten against her wet skull. Maija growled at the looming figure before she reluctantly followed him. It had been a few days since she had seen Dragomir and her heart secretly ached. However, she moved this to the back of her mind and began to look around at the new territory. Everything was so new and seemed peaceful, a place that other wolves may consider their home. Her right ear turned in Rotterdam's direction and she gave a brief shrug as she continued to trot along. "Hell if I know. From the way this place holds plant life, there may be prey that eats it." Her nose twitched and she sniffed the air, trying to pick up any scents that would stick out from the vegetarian buffet.
Her attention became focused as she saw Rotterdam halt. She watched him break through the foliage and introduce himself to an unseen figure. Maija's eyes roved to the dark stranger that she could see through the leaves, tail slightly flicking in apprehension to his presence. The gold dame was considering joining her husband, except the hunger that raged in her slender abdomen was overpowering her. Ignoring the consequences that Rotterdam would threaten on her later, she tromped off through the trees in a direction perpendicular to where the two males stood. Silent paws carried her across the unfamiliar terrain, nose to the ground for any known scents. Leaf green gaze, sure and swift, looked in all directions as she began to scout for her lunch.

CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO FLY

~*~

Cross in island

Cross collapsed as soon as his paws felt ground again. His yellow muzzle splashed in the water and staid there until he finally managed the strength to lift it. Dang. That was he called a swim. The boy didn't make any attempt to stand, he just let the churn of the waves slowly roll his soggy butt to the shore line. Once there he remained panting and heaving, and even wretched a bit of salt water. He never complained though. He'd followed Awaken all the way from Mt. Volkan - not quite as daunting as it might have been, considering the boy's prior trip to Seracia. Hard pace, rough terrain, long marches, and he never voiced a word of complaint. Never voiced a word at all in fact. He wasn't a shell shocked baby anymore, but he was maturing into a very solemn, silent wolf. This swim though, had him panting loud enough to scare the fish. Awaken moved onward and Cross was so numb he barely noticed. But all the better if one of them was still able to function. Cross was bigger and more clear-headed than any wolf his age had a right to be, but he was ten months old. That water had been amazing! Beautiful! Exhilarating! But it any more of it would've killed him.

Eventually he rolled over on his back, pressing his black namesake into the damp, pebble dotted sand. He slowly realized that he was in the shade. The canopy of a forest unlike any he'd ever seen was leaning out over the beach and sheltering him from the sun. Quiet or no, Cross could still look with wonder upon sights such as this. The boy found his feet, and, chin tilted upwards, starting climbing up the little beach towards the tree line. This was incredible! The trailing vines, the dozens of different flowers, the foreign scents, the red and blue feathered bird winging by, the deep, impenetrable green of the world ahead-! ...The log of bleached driftwood that he went sprawling over. ...Yeah... He was gonna need a little more time to rest before he started exploring.

. . .

When Cross did finally get up and start trotting through the woods, he fell upon the trail of an adult wolf, but it wasn't Awaken. Clear cut eyes narrowed into Emerald slits, and black hackles raised slightly above overdeveloped shoulders. Someone, maybe even someones were on this island. Cross padded forward, black paws dipping quietly into the mixture of sand, soil and leaf litter. Strange bird calls sounded high above his ears, a low, almost screeching trill rang out somewhere. Cross was in uncharted territory and he was dripping wet with salt water. Not a good mix to expect pleasantries from. As Cross pushed past a tangle of orange flowered vines, he caught sight of the stranger - a pale coated she wolf searching about for prey. Cross eased his hackles down but remain totally on his guard, waiting for the fae to realize that she was no longer on her own

The woman had been on the island for a few days now, doing anything and everything in her power to avoid Morgan and Rumble. So far it had worked. In avoiding her own family she had managed to avoid the rest of the world as well. That was until today when four different scents invaded her fresh air. A growl left her as she stood up, they had interrupted her meal...or what was left of it anyway.

She quickly finished what was left before hiding herself away in the shadows. Being an avenger meant she wasn't a master of anything but protecting herself and others...though war tactics weren't a part of those. She could only come up with a plan for herself, not an entire army like warriors could do. The only reason she was good at hiding was because of her black and white peppered fur. From a distance she looked dark grey almost black and from within the shadows she was nearly impossible to spot.

Pepper tracked down two of the scents to the best of her ability. At first she only got close enough to examine them, to spy out any place on them that would be easy to get to and would do great harm. Once found she showed herself. Her medium sized frame was held beautifully on long feminine but muscular legs. In fact her entire body was that way, feminine but muscular. So much so that she was almost irresistible to almost all wolves...that was until she spoke. With her head held high and tail lashing to and fro a vicious snarl tore itself from her throat in warning of her arrival.

Even though a snarl had just been released her face was a mask of no emotion. "Who the hell are you two? though it was a question her voice was seductive as always but with an equal amount of a demanding tone.

Poseiden awoke to a comotion. He was alseep in the bushes when everyone gathered around two males. A dark male and one who was mostly white. He gave a sigh as he got up, lazily walking his way over there. Pepper, who he'd met earlier, was already making threats and snarling. This was rediculous. They were wolves, not primapes!?

He began thinking on how to stop this 'discussion' from turning to a brawl. He didn't wish for there to be a fight yet, but he would fight if he must. Besides, all the other wolves did wrong was swim onto shore. He then became fed up. He looked to the sky and let out his horrible, doubletoned howl. Loud and distorted, kinda like a dogwistle. ?When he let his head down hopefully things would be silent.?

"Why do we care that other rouges are on the same Island. Theyre no diffrent than us." his strange voice sounded enraged, but he was relaxed. "So what that they want to be on land. I would expect better from you all. "?

Awaken snarled as the other wolves did. He realized cross had tagged along... Shit. Gargoyle'd kill him if something happe ed to him. A terrifying growl ripped from his chest but stopped as anlther black wolf howled.

The sound was awefull. He was forced to turn his ears and even try to cover them with his paws. He let out a wimper because of his sore ears. He couldn't tell wether the pitch was high or low, or both! Finaly it stoped when the wolf went on lecturing about peace. He gave a sigh of relif.

"I'm Awaken and this here is Cross. Were just looking around is all.." he explained shortly

The trails she had picked up were cold, days old and clearly indicated the trekkers had left the area. Maija mentally tossed them aside as she slowly walked through the underbrush, ignoring the vibrant colors and bright green life that sprouted all around her. She flicked her tail in impatience as she found yet another scent trail, one that held promise. 'Finally,' she thought in a disgruntled mental voice. The golden-hued dame was about to set off until she realized that she wasn't as alone as she would have liked.
Her body froze, one front paw in midair beneath her head. Maija's nose quickly twitched, taking in the fresher scent of a stranger. The said stranger was on her left, explaining how her eyes swiftly checked at the corners of her peripheral vision. Slowly, Maija turned her majestic head towards Cross, taking in his multi-colored form. Her leaf green eyes rose to meet his and what a distance they had to travel! Assuming he wasn't even a year old, he was huge for his age!
Yet, Maija remained silent. Hackles rose, making her fur stand on end. Her tail bristled and her eyes narrowed into slits. Her ears slipped back to her cranium like oil had been used to keep them down. She let her upper lip curl back, revealing her pearly white canines. Her stony gaze burned into the tall male's before she let it go. As soon as she had raised her physical defenses, she let them down. Mentally, her walls were up - they always were - but she relaxed and raised an eyebrow to the male in front of her. Keeping his scent in mind for possible future encounters, she turned her head away from him and carried on with her hunt. Hunger was heard from her stomach as she found her way through the next bed of nearby bushes. Her slender form slipped through the branches without as much as catching onto one limb. A final flick of her tail and she was gone.

The male seemed to have been previously unaware of his presence. Marvelous. It was quite often that Rotterdam found himself able to sneak up on others given his pigmentation. The smile remained on his lips, as foreign as if he were wearing makeup. Someone showed up before the first male could respond, however, and the beast's head swung toward her like a pendulum. "Why the hell should I tell you, woman?" Words were spat at her like bile that had seeped up from his stomach. Flashing her a distasteful look, he turned his head back to the male. It was unusual that he sought anything from a male, but Rotterdam had already set his sights, and would be sure to fulfill his task. Another joined the caucus, giving off some godforsaken sound before uttering that it shouldn't matter who the wolves were. "At least you have more sense than the wench. Could've done without that blasted noise, though." Rotterdam remarked without hesitation, or even a glance to the sensible minded fellow who'd whistled. Finally came the answer he'd wanted. This man's name was Awaken, and the younger boy with him was Cross. How quaint. "I gather, then, that this island is unclaimed?" Boy, it was like pulling teeth to get information out of these fools. It would be then that he realized Maija had not joined the fray. Where was she? Twisting his blackened head to and fro, he didn't see hide nor hair of the pallid woman. "Woman, get over here." His command had been given, and she'd better hope she was within earshot to hear it.

CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO FLY

~*~

(continuity note: Maija's post said that she walked -away- from Awaken and Dragomir, and Cross's post said that he followed her. in other words, they weren't with the rest of the group)

A return of his silent look and raised fur, was all that Cross was to receive, before the pale woman turned away and once more slipped into the island's undergrowth. It was all he needed, though. The boy was let to know that the she-wolf was ready to defend herself, but wanted nothing to do with him and only wished to be on her way. Fair enough. Nothing else had to be said on the matter. Cross wanted her go, the fur along his back smoothing down to normal. Though his eyes remained bright and sharp as crystal, all traces of a snarl faded from his face. He was of the same mind as the she-wolf, and he turned a different direction than she had taken - meaning to follow Awaken's scent and catch up with the other male. He had barely taken a step when he heard the strange howl. At first he wasn't even certain it was lupine!

His pace increased to a trot - and he reached the little island gathering just as the the strange male finished speaking. It looked like Awaken had walked right into a hornet's nest - there was a muscled grey woman, and another rather fierce-eyed male. If it weren't for the howling stranger's words - or rather demand for calm, Cross might've had to start getting ready for a fight. Truth be told, the boy was in no condition to do anything but talk, but he didn't think about that, he just came to stand beside and behind, Awaken, silently awaiting orders. He wasn't sure about this island. It was beautiful and plentiful, that was certain, but how could it be that so many wolves had swum over. Was there an easier way across? He'd have to search for it later.

The encounter with the stranger made Maija's day all the more interesting. She wasn't used to anyone other than her lover, so having contact with other wolves was a nice change. Of course, she wouldn't voice that to anyone except Dragomir. The fae was so paranoid and distrustful that she never told anyone anything about her thoughts and feelings. Maija did have them, but an outsider would assume that she was just a bitch...that label was one she was proud to have.
The interactions with her didn't just end with Cross. As she got further away from the group, she heard the loud rumble of Rotterdam, summoning her. Maija rolled her eyes at the call and her ears flipped to her skull. She slowly turned her head in the direction of his scent - mixed with others - and her eyes narrowed. A swift comeback in Romanian would meet his ears before a pause could worm its way between their verbal exchange. "EU merg la vinatoare. Bucuraţi-vă timp cu noul dumneavoastră tovarăşi." (I'm going hunting. Enjoy your time with your new playmates.)
The drive that Maija had for her lunch was kicked into high gear as she then advanced through the unfamiliar underbrush. Her slender form wove between trees and bushes, avoiding the limbs that could grab onto her golden fur. Leaf green eyes and nose resumed their searches, picking out fresh scents and looking for sudden movements. If Rotterdam decided to chase after her, oh well. She would defend herself if the opportunity called for it.

The woman had changed since her family had done to her what they had done. She had no intentions of fighting with any of the wolves on the island...nor did she care that they were on the island. She was just in a bad mood all the time and in turn she was becoming hateful to everyone.

pepper was ready to snap at the male who called her woman when poseiden's voice came to her ears. The sound seemed to make everyone cringe as if the sound of his deformed voice hurt, it however didn't bother her though. She had met the man hefore and just as it was then his voice was no more than interesting to her even though the sound was still awful. She lay her ears back and then perked them back up when she spoke to her reletively new friend. "I don't care that they are here, my dear friend, I only care that I don't know them and one makes me want to rip his face off" her voice was much friendlier toward poseiden than it was to the other two males.

the moment she finished talking to her friend a boy showed himself and one of the two men gave her two names. Her facial expresstions not near as hateful as before "as I already said...I don't care that your here." she then directed a glare at the male who had set her off in the first place. Something about the man made her uneasy, and nothing had ever made her debate on observing from a distance or just avoiding him all together. She ignored the female as she couldn't understand her words anyway. "well ya dumb brute...because if you don't your name will be what ever I feel fits the moment."
