The earth was parched and baked, crusted and hard beneath the weary feet of travelers. For miles and miles, not a single tree broke the monotony of flat earth and occasional, miniscule shrubs. The sun was just beginning to rise, and so thankfully the creatures that had the misfortune to be in the area were spared the cruelty of the sun?s unbridled heat. The sky was still dim, and a faint coolness remained from the previous night?s chills. It was a good temperature, though it would not last.

Caesar took advantage of the dawn?s merciful air, and had been running lots. Part of his motivation was to get out of the desert area. The other part was that running was fun, and it was even more fun in an open plain like this. He sped along across the nothingness, his limbs pushing his weightless body over level terrain with admirable speed. Jaws hung unhinged, his tongue lolling out as his lungs worked to pump air in and out of his body.

A queen of the north, Eos had grown rapidly accustomed to the cold; substantial jacket all-encompassing leathery flesh into a saluted insulator of heat and fortification. She required it, to say the least; but here? Bouncing step was disabled by endless waves of temperature, a previously resolute trot fading rapidly to a wounded shamble. The youth was an undeniable image of physical fitness, greyhound-influenced stomach reaching up beneath broad hind limbs, but no matter how trained one was, a beast could surely never flourish in such a death seized land. The meagre, forthcoming frame of an ebony ghoul was enough to confirm such presumptions; the dames? eyes clinking hauntingly across the pronounced rows of his ribcage as he lumbered the deathly landscape with lack of haste. What a beautiful sight it was. As tempted as she were to avoid him, the tickling encouragement of near-by water would carry her accurately to his door, she would pause, sparing a few moments to catch her breath; surveying the awkward beast with dwindling interest.

The little beast ran a few strides more before pausing for a break. He halted for a moment, wheezing slightly and then reverting to a normal panting once more. Maybe it was time to stop running until he got out of here; his mouth was getting dry, and there was clearly no water anywhere nearby. With a soft huff, he would start to move once more, this time at a more leisurely amble than a sprint. His head swung left and right quickly, as though he were expecting to find something different after so much nothing. He did spot something though. With surprise, the gremlin jumped a little when he caught sight of the big wolf. ?Hey!? he squeaked, blinking as he stopped to turn towards her. How about that? Someone else was here!

For such a sinister, fraught looking little mortal; the peculiar creature certainly was a vivid and bustling morsel of enthusiasm, his tongue flicking with childlike fervour at glowing incisors. Fabulous. Lime-green gaze would narrow upon his dismal corpse, nostrils quivering as if expecting to discover some class of decaying stench accompanying his presence. Alas, Eos would be disappointed. ?Whatever it be that gives a fiend of your class such grating zest out here, please- do share,? despite the potential hint of humour upon her breath, the russet queen?s expression remained indisputably void.

She spoke, and the beast took a moment to process her words. After a second, he perked slightly, his tattered ears lifting, the left a mere skeleton of what it once was. ?Uhhh, he can run!? he replied, his brows lifted and his expression faintly serious. Running was fun. That made him decently happy out here. ?And the sun isn?t all the way up,? he added thinly with a quick nod. He doubted he?d be as energetic if it was to unleash its full wrath upon his ebony back. Curious blue eyes traced the woman?s frame. She was a variety of browns, and from where he was, he could tell she was much taller than himself. He was used to that though, so it bothered him not. ?She doesn?t want to be out here?? he piped, lifting his head a tad more.
