Padding along sassily to the beat playing in her head, Camden kept her tail high and her ears perked up. Her lips were slightly parted to reveal sharp yellowed canines, and her claws flexed in the snow with every step. She kept her head held high in defiance, a sharp look in her green gaze, as she fixated it on the snowy landscape before her.

Stopping at a strongly marked borderline, she raised her muzzle to the sky, parting her maw and letting loose a savage, and bold howl. She meant business, and she needed her relative Feather. She was bound and determined to use Feather to get into this pack, so she could take it over and hopefully have it like Abiteth. She missed her old pa- NO. She shook her head violently, a low growl starting before it died down as she sat herself down.

Leaning back on her haunches, she surveyed the land as if she already owned it. Her paws flexed and a cold grin was on her muzzle, eyes darkened by her lust for power. Little did she know, she would never get that chance to battle it out with the strong leader. But for now, she was completely oblivious to the danger that would soon unfold for her. So she sat, waiting, slightly impatient, and quite pissy. She thought she would bitch and moan later about how long it took for the leader to show up, and how she expected her cousin to reply immediately to her demanding call. Feather, in fact, had been frightened by her cousin, and seemed glad to have left, so Camden was eager to see the pale femme again, and remind her who was stronger. Remind her who was boss.

. . .

Champion was supposed to be walking, but her nervousness had her practically skipping through the snow. Nervousness? Was she nervous? What fun! That was new!

In all seriousness though, she had been putting this off. She'd made an attempt to talk to Newt about it, but her friend was busy with her Queenly duties. Champ understood. In the end, the only one she'd told was Vio, and all she'd said was: "I recently learned... I might have some sort of connected... to the Glaciems... I just wanna scope out the place, get a feel for it. I don't know if we'll actually talk to anyone."

And thinking of the male, Champion turned her head to look over her shoulder. "Thanks for coming along Vio," she said, turning the male beside her. She knew he didn't have to do any of this - the following her around in Amenti, much less coming along to Glaciem. He wasn't her rescued slave anymore. He was a full member of the pack. He had his freedom. But she'd gotten used to the guy tagging along - always making everything a game. She was glad that he hadn't cut and run as soon as his time was served.

Besides, she hadn't been such a bad person to be a servant to right? What other master played games of tag?

"It means alot," she added. She didn't like thinking that she could be scared of anything. Fear had never been a part of her. It just wasn't in her code. She stood up to serial killers, a zombie wolf in the swamps, crazy loners, rushing rivers - it was all a game! But this... this was a part of her past, and possibly... a part of her future? Oh she didn't know! It was too complicated.

She'd never thought she'd find her mother. It had been a dream of her's as a pup, when she'd grown up on stories of how the mysterious southern queen "Sadie" and, the pack giant "Mouse" had found in the great wars against the empire of white wolves and helped win back the North. But Mouse had died in the war and Sadie, after having his pup, was tricked by a midwife into believing that that pup was dead. Sadie had left, absolutely heartbroken. But Champion was that pup. Long after the wolf who called herself 'Sadie' had left, the truth was found out by her comrades. But Champion had never thought...

Not until she'd met that chatty cathy Maka in Dreamer's Col. Who's spoken about the Glaciem wolf 'Crusade' and her adventures in the Far North. And how she'd fallen in love with a giant male named Mouse...

Champion shook her head. She didn't need anything like that, really! She'd found a home for herself. She had a pack! She was a Beta! She had an Alphess for a best friend.

And yet she was curious. She wanted to know more.

Champion trotted up to scent markers that showed where the border was. There were faint depression in the snow - where trailed had been made by patroling wolves. Seemed they ran a tight ship. What was the name of their Alpha again? Chief? No, no, that was what they called the rank. Gargoyle! That was it. Rumor was that he had no tail because, years ago, starving out in the wilds, he ate it to survive.

Sounded like Champ's kind of man..... Except that if this whole Crusade thing was true..... ick! that made him her uncle.

Again - too much to think about.

It seemed that they weren't alone on the borders today. Champion, wondering if she ought not to be seen, hesitated. But too late. There was no cover around here. They'd probably already been seen. So, throwing caution to the wind, the mammoth pushed into a snow-plowing lope and made her way over. "Good day, stranger! Are you one of the Glaciems?"

Accompanying Champion on this little journey was Vioxes walking along side her like a goof. He exaggerated his steps, swinging out his likes stiff as a board, his head rocking from side to side. He was trying to keep the large woman in a good mood, seeing her be all nervous with this little mission made him curious but also made him want to try keeping her mind straight. Nervousness could lead to bad things.

He was going on with his silly walk when the woman thanked him for coming, his ears swiveling towards her. He lifted his head, hazel eyes bright, lips pulling back in a grin as he gave a nod of his head. Not a problem, I wanted to come with. He smiled at her before continuing on with his goofiness. The male liked being with the large woman, being able to help her out and just liking being around her. It was definitely better than sitting by himself, that was no fun at all.

I'm happy to know you brought me along.. it is nice. She commented softly, stopping the way he was walking to walk normal. Pushing through the snow with her until they came across a wolf not far from them. He stayed silent though as Champion spoke up, coming to stop beside her.

Camden spun on her heels as soon as she heard a voice. Her ears pinned back and her tail raised the slightest bit as she stood, pulling herself up to all 35" if her height. Her chin raised as she looked the tall wolfess up and down. "No. But my cousin Feather is, and so I need to see her. We have... Business to talk about."

That cold smirk from earlier was back on her muzzle as she glanced at the male by the she-wolfs' side. "My name is Camden, former Alphess of Abiteth Pack, meaning Midnight Thunder." She blinked, her sharp gaze fixating back on the much bigger wolf, "And you are?" Her ears flicked, one facing towards the border and the other facing towards the strange female.

Studying her more intensely, yet feigning boredom, Camden concluded that this wolf was probably mainly brute force in a fight. She was muscled, and her stature was impressively large. Larger than any other wolf she had met yet. Camden wasn't scared, not at all, just eyeing the other wolf should she need to face her. She doubted that was an option, as Camden believed she was obviously the superior here, so she wouldn't waste and of her time on the others.

. . .

Ah, so this was a relative of a Glaciem. Well well, small world. And a former Alphess? Champion did her best not to smirk. Well that certainly explained the once-over she was getting from the stranger's eyes. Rank meant respect in most cases of the wolf kingdom, but Champion had traveled far enough to know that there were many kinds of leaders, and some of them deserved to be trod in the mud rather than bowed to. No telling what sort of a Queen this creature had been. Nor how she'd lost her reign.

"And you are?"

Champion chuckled. "Though I hold a Beta position in the Amenti pack, not far from here, I am a bit of a travler, Camden, much like yourself. My name? Is Champion. Oh, and this is my friend, Vioxes." The mammoth she-wolf swung her burgundy gaze about the expanse of snow. "Seems we may have to a wait a bit to be received, how would you like to make our wait less dull?" A hit of amusement entered her voice "I should consider it an honor to spar with a once Alpha." That was true Champion form. She wanted games, she wanted life, she wanted excitement. She was never looking for an enemy, but always looking for a fight.

A sigh would escape the males dark lips when the woman spun around and rose to her full height. Will I ever meet someone who isn't taller than me? He thought in a light manner. Since joining Amenti, even as a slave, he had noticed the pack was full of large wolves and he didn't really meet or talk to anyone his size or smaller. It was a bit of a prick in his side but he didn't mind, none of them seemed to start trouble with him and weren't too bad so he didn't mind too much.

Ears perked up when the woman spoke, his nose twitching as the wind brought the shewolf's scent to him. From what he could tell, she was not part of this Glaciem pack, her scent was obviously one of another. Just a moment after that thought she had confirmed it, telling them she was not part of Glaciem but her cousin, feather, was who she needed to see to talk about business. He raised a brow at this, something about the way she said it made him think the woman was up to something.

Vioxes pushed the thought aside, he knew nothing about this woman so he would not judge. What he would do though was keep the feeling in his gut, keep it at bay until he had a moment to talk to her or at least hear what she had to say. And she did. The woman smirked, her gaze falling upon him. He straightened himself out, tail raising slightly behind him but slowly wagging, his head held level and a calm expression on his face.

The shewolf introduced herself as Camden, a former alphess of a pack known as Abideth which mean Midnight Thunder or something like that. Vioxes wouldn't say a single word though, it was Champion who wanted to come here and asked the woman a question, so he would allow her to speak before he did. Smoothly his head turned to the large woman beside him, hazel orbs watching her chuckle before speaking. She introduced herself then Vioxes, whom turned his head and gave a respectful dip of it to the woman.

What Champion said though cause the male's brows to come over, a bit of worry crossing his face as he looked to her. Clearing his throat Vioxes stepped close to Champion, raising his head to try and speak low so she could only hear. I don't mean to ruin you fun miss but... do you think it''s a good idea to spar right by the borders of a pack we don't really know about? What if they take it the wrong way? He asked her, just trying to look out for the woman so that they wouldn't get into any trouble over a little fun between the large shewolves.

. . .

Champion glanced down at her boy when he spoke, distracting her from the fun at hand. His comment, though she understood where it came from, produced a sour look on her gold and cream colored face. Certainly he knew her better than to think she'd be scared of Glaciem. Besides, after a moment's mulling it over, she faded back to her usual happy-go-lucky self. "Really Vio," she chuckled. "It's just a friendly spar," she shot a wink at her friend. Didn't he think she could handle herself. "Besides, these Glaciems claim to be warriors right? They might think the better of us for a display of ability- assuming they even get their butts round in time to see anything."

She glanced at the female, wondering if perhaps she'd been too bold. Maybe she was assuming too much. Maybe the other fae was intimidated by Champion's size. It certainly wouldn't be the first time or anything. The mammoth looked her over, wondering, searching for signs of hesitance. "Perhaps you do have a point though," she murmured her eyes on the fae but her words to the male. "After all we don't want anyone getting their fur messed up."

There it was. Champion's play. Camden had been looking her over analytically for long enough. Time to see if this 'ex-alpha' had any bite or if she was all bark.
