Their new Queen had decided that each wolf was to fight for their rank. To prove they were worth something to her. Esperance had nothing to prove, all she wanted to do was to polish her fighting skills as they?d become rusty since she had joined Tortuga under the old leader. As the earthen wolf had watched the others gather on this dreary day, summoned by their new ruler, Esperance didn?t know what to think. There were so many discernible pelts that it was mildly appalling to the lady. She was one who appreciated beauty but from some reason uniqueness in such numbers was absolutely dull.
Sighing the woman would turn to listen as Desdemona spoke pairing each of them off. As others got into their groups on the over saturated soil that was to be their battleground, Esperance spied her rival. Walking calmly over, becoming very aware of how her feet slid in the mud, Esperance would nod a greeting before her sultry vocals rolled forth from her dainty jaws.
?Good luck to you, Viridiana.? This was said as her defenses slide easily into place. The wolf would tuck her neck in, jaws opening partially to protect its vulnerable underside with her sharp teeth. Esperance pinched her shoulders together and angled them towards her skull while she partially tucked her ears into her head. Meanwhile the babe?s tail would stick straight out at the level of her hips to act as a rudder and a counter balance as she mildly flexed her knees and elbows to bring her smaller form to the ground. There the she-wolf waited for the other?s attack, unwilling to make the first move.

So this was what it had come down to, a battle? She had joined Tortuga almost two or more year ago and had immediately been granted the title of Ricittar. Steren had said that she believed Vi would prosper in the rank and she had, she had done better in that rank then any other. Then there had been Kaien, his rule had allowed insubordination and laziness to prosper. She had been promoted to beta shortly after and had become complacent almost immediately after. But either way, her promotions had been due to having a good head on her shoulders rather then being a good fighter. And to be honest she knew she wasn?t the best fighter, her brother had always kicked her butt in their spars. To be even more honest, she hated to fight. It lead to scars and to turning beautiful girls into ugly monsters like that black female that lived in Amenti. On top of her dislike for the sport she had been trained to kill, and in a sneaky back stabbing kind of way rather then in a fair fight because what was the fun in that? She was an assassin, it was what she had been born to do, and sometimes if the mood struck she took to being a slayer but that didn?t get her blood pumping quite as well.
She said nothing throughout the tournament introduction and pairings, silent after she had introduced her brother. But as Desdemona paired them up her crown swiveled , sharp gaze turning to the female she had been paired with. A sly smile turned the edges of her lips up, shoulders rolling back expectantly as she lifted herself to her paws and shook out her red coat. She had never met this female before, at least to her recollection, she was of simple coloring but pretty none the less. Vi moved to meet her as she came towards her, head tipped slightly and ears swiveled towards her opponent. An easy good luck slipped from her lips and Vi?s smile widened. ?Please dear Esperance, Vi or Viri is just fine. Best of luck to you as well,? she purred, crowing dipping to the side politely. Defenses settled easily into place, old habits dying hard. A forepaw slid forward a bit easier then intended through the mud and she took not of the more difficult footing. She balanced herself and crouched slightly as her ears tucked to her skull, eyes narrowed and tail lowered. Head would lower to the level of her shoulders and chin would tip down slightly to protect her esophagus.
It had been a long time since the bitch had sparred someone who was similar to her own size. This female was slightly smaller in fact and it almost threw Vi off. But she rolled her shoulders once more, settling into her stance before she would even attach. Jaws stretched, flexed each way and then like that she was off, hind legs coiling and launching her at the female. She didn?t leap, no, leaping made you more vulnerable seeing as you couldn?t change your trajectory once your paws left the ground. Instead she gathered momentum quickly, covering the space between them in what felt like a millisecond. She didn?t want a direct hit exactly but she aimed to slam her chest into this female?s, to hit Esperance?s throat with her shoulder and try and grab onto the side of the womans face first and if that missed then carry on with her momentum and go for her scruff or shoulder. There were few wolves who seemed to attack head on anymore and she found if threw off quite a few. What it did to this woman, she wouldn?t know until her teeth found a hold on flesh.
Round: 1/3
Injuries: None
Defenses: Ears pinned, eyes narrowed and tail tucked lowered to give less to grab onto. Head lowered slightly; though it comes up just as she attacks, and chin tilted down to protect her throat.
Attacks: Runs at Esperance head on, looking to collide chests, Vi?s shoulder to Esperance?s throat. Trying to get a hold on her face and if that fails then scruff of shoulder.
