Salamander was getting bored with the den, getting sick of dealing with his sister's teasing and his brother's bossiness. Today was one of his good days, he wanted to get out of the den and explore, to have some fun that would not be interrupted by his siblings. That was why he snuck out while mother was gone with father and his siblings were asleep.

He bounded through the forest, violet orbs looking up to the sky, sweeping back and forth between the trees and just watching the clouds roll by. Today it was sunny but because of the weather changing and winter around the corner there was a chill to the air, sending a shiver across the pups body.

It was surprising, he had thought somebody would have noticed him leaving the den, especially Amenti lands. In the back of his head he knew he was being bad, that he shouldn't be going so far from home, but he couldn't help it! He wanted to explore! See what was out there! Maybe meet a new friend! The other half just wanted to get away from mother and the plants she was feeding him, making him feel all weird.

He wasn't going to let those thought bring him down though, not today! Instead of thinking about it he ran along the trees, not giving a care about who would hear him.

He was still lonely. His parents were dead. One of his brothers had died. Two of his other siblings were missing. It would have been safe to also presume them dead, but he couldn't do that. To assume that they were dead would mean giving up and he didn't wanna give up. It would mean he would be the last one left of his family and he didn't want to be the last one left. He didn't want to be lonely.

The boy was thankful this was snow and not rain. He hated water with every fiber of his being. At least the snow didn't try to drown him. So he would never go swimming and god forbid he get stuck in the rain. If it rained the boy would normally cower in a den somewhere and silently wonder if he was going to drown like he almost had a few months ago when the flash flood had surprised them. The thought alone made him shudder. He couldn't stand water. It had to be possessed by some evil water spirit. It was out to get him. It just HAD to be.

Paws crunched in the snow as he trotted happily kicking the white powder up as he went. He was alone, it was quiet, and there couldn't be a better way to spend his morning. Other than attempt to eat something. His stomach rumbled and a soft whine left him. He was horrible emaciated, on top of being horribly built as it was. He'd gotten the tiny gene. He was smaller than average for his species and built like a runner. He didn't have thick muscles or a nice build. He was just all legs and had a caved in stomach. Nothing worth admiring over, but his condition was only worsened by lack of proper nutrition. Pitiful really. Hunger was something he'd grown used to. The whine would be his only complaint.

A dual colored ear flicked as he heard the sound of something running. Curiosity overwhelmed him and the boy began to run towards the noise. Misjudging it though he didn't see the boy until the last second. A loud gasp escaped his larynx before he swerved, tripped over a log, and them tumbled into a tan and white mess of legs and bones. Dazed for a moment his yellow and orange eyes could see nothing but two of the world as he lay in a heap trying to figure out how to work his limbs.

He had become distracted in his run, head turned to the side, violet orbs focused on a large bird flying from a tree to another. His lips pulled back in a grin, tongue hanging out the side of his jaws, a small laugh escaping him. But something surprised him, a gasp, his head whipped around, seeing a flash of tan and white whizz right past him.

The pup yelped, tongue being yanked into his mouth just as they came snapping shut. In a second of panic the boy's paws seemed to go in every direction, stepping in a small dip of the ground that sent his body rolling forward for a foot or two before finally coming to a stop by rolling right into the trunk of a tree.

Salamander had his head bonk right into the trunk, head to the tree, laying on his stomach with legs out to the sides. He had been rolling just fast enough that when he had hit his head, the boy was knocked out. Laying still, eyes closed.
