He knew his mother sometimes hunted by creating traps. In fact, she had rather enjoyed the ones that broke legs or hurt her prey without immediately killing them. But she hadn’t gotten around to teaching him how to make them before the incidents that had led him here.

He had seen her traps, somewhat, and he was keen to have a go at making one of his own. He wanted to build up his supply of meat. And, maybe he’d even share with the pack. Get on Vidarr’s good side or something. Not that he cared what the Black Demon thought.

He had found a hole in the earth, perhaps something that had been a rabbit's warren at some point, and dug out by a predator. He had some vague notion that if he could set a stake up in the hole, and cover it with leaves, he could trick something into falling into it. First, he needed to gather some sticks and sharpen them. He took his time grabbing a bundle, and sat by the hole as he began to work on filing them down.

"Speech"

The snowy mountain is the girl’s favorite place and she often buries herself under the fluffy white stuff to observe what the others in the pack do. Now, to be fair, Unagi isn’t trying to be a spy, she actually does it to help cool off, the observing part is just kind of a side effect. Today, she is in a deep bank with on her black and pink eyes visible, when she spies a rather interesting boy setting up with some sticks near a hole. Curious, she watches as he begins to sharpen them and the girl immediately knows that he is working on a trap for hunting.

Without a word, she breaks from the snow, round form standing and causing powder to cascade off her form. Large paws pull her toward the boy and she dips her head in silent greeting while continuing to say nothing. She does not wait for an invitation and moves to the pile of sticks, plops herself down near them and grab one. Nearby, there is a semi-flat rock that would make a tool to help sharpen the objects so she gathers it in her maw and swiftly gets to work.


"Hattori-Klein Unagi"

He had filed the stick almost to a point, and was fiddling with it to ensure it was perfect. He was in the process of picking up a new stick when something happened. The sudden motion of a wolf appearing through the snow startled him badly, he turned to her and dropped his stick. Baring his fangs as he arched his back, the fur along his spine rising. She didn’t do anything aggressive, just grabbed for a stick as if she had a right to his things, and started working on it. Her silence was as creepy as her sudden appearance.

“Hey! What do you think you're doing?” He challenged her, turning to watch her work. Grabbing his stick back off the ground as he did so. “That’s my stick, give it back now!” He ordered her, Thrall or not, he wasn’t going to let anyone steal his shit without reacting.


"Speech"

The boy is surprised by her sudden appearance from the snow and a small, apologetic smile crosses the girl’s lips. Unagi moves to join him in sharpening the sticks, not uttering a word because she feels that they are not need. Snow still clings to her form as she settles beside the boy, deftly picking up a stick and rock to help him in his endeavor. Suddenly, the stranger challenges her, turning to face her as he demands to have his stick back. She stops mid-stroke, turning her mismatched gaze to him and lifting a brow in silent question.

Eyes shift down to the stick trapped beneath her paw as she considers the strange demand before shrugging her shoulders. Placing the stone down, Unagi offers the stick back to the strange boy and lifts her eyes to meet his lavender gaze. She says, “Just tryin’ to help. You want to make a trap and I want to hunt. Unless… you want to sharpen all these sticks by yourself?” A paw gestures at his pile, knowing that two wolves working together will get through them faster than just one. Maybe he thinks she trying to take over his work so, she offers, “I’ll follow your lead if that helps?”

It is an olive branch to the stranger, who she does not know from Adam. If he likes to be the one to give orders, she will play along because, in the end, it will get them food. Unagi’s belly rumbles its agreement to her thoughts.


"Hattori-Klein Unagi"

At his words, the strange stopped. She was looking at him again, and he was just beginning to wonder if she was mute. She shot that idea in the paw when she finally opened her maw and spoke. Explaining that she was trying to help. Strai didn’t appreciate his things being messed with, and fully expected wolves of this pack to try to steal from him. He was more than prepared to defend his things, however he had to.

“Well… Alright then” He grumbled, he would just have to keep a close eye on her. If she tried any funny business, she would be in trouble. It would be like the first meeting of Delphi, all over again. He hoped this one wasn’t related to Vidarr as well. He knew that Delphi had at least one sibling called Aji. Fishing for information, he glanced at the white multi-eyed wolf and said. “I’m Strai” he used a paw to push some sticks over to her. “You can use these ones” He picks up his finished stick, and started jamming it into the hole. He just needed a couple more, and then it would be time to find their prey.


"Speech"

The boy seems to accept that Unagi really is just trying to help him and he grumbles a reply to her offer. A wide grin splits her maws as she watches him, realizing that this boy seems very defensive of his things so she decides to tread carefully when dealing with items. He offers up his name and the girl dips her head slightly in greeting as she says, “I’m Unagi.” Strai finally pushes some of the sticks toward her and the girl deftly picks one up and begins to quickly sharpen it with her makeshift tool.

Mismatched eyes glance over to the boy who she knows nothing about and calmly inquires, “So, Strai. Do you have any family in the pack?” The boy’s rank is lost on the young Unagi and, even if she did know he was a thrall, the girl wouldn’t care. Being in a pack in a new experience for the youth and ranks really have no bearing on what she thinks of the wolves she meets. Finishing work on her first stick, she gently rolls over to the boy before picking up another to set about sharpening it.


"Hattori-Klein Unagi"

Strai prickled at her question. It wasn’t her fault, she didn’t know his story, but that didn’t make it any easier to deal with. “I don’t need any family.” He snapped at her. He had no idea why she was bothering to deal with a Thrall, and while her help might make things go faster, he wanted to pretend he was independent enough not to need it.

He jammed her stick into the earth when she rolled it over to him, and kicked vines over the hole. It covered it enough that a quick glance gave nothing away. It would do. “There were some deer over this way. I’m going to go find them.” He said. It was far from a question of if she was coming to help, but it was the best the surly boy could manage. He was already turning and trotting off.
