Kenway had been asking questions, questions about his place in the world, about the Fallen God and what it had to do with him. Her mind had drifted back to the lessons her mother had given, it felt like grasping at tendrils of smoke. She had been so young... but with the help of Oddie and the cattle dogs, they had dragged some pelts out to the stones and soaked up the weaker summer sun, Modesty rolling balls of clay between her paws, looking to the flat disk that bore her sigil. Her mother had said they would expand on it as they grew, that they would revisit them at a year old. They had never managed to make it to that lesson, with everything that transpired when they were cast out of Ashen.

Modesty took to doodling while she waited. Maybe some of her children would join her, maybe other members of the pack, maybe even someone completely unexpected? She would save the sigils for another lesson, today would be about their place in the world. She hadn't made a great effort to raise her children within the religion, thinking it would be best to be a decision they made for themselves when they were older. Perhaps their sigils could be a sign of that.

As others joined her, a smile graced her lips. "It isn't just those of our bloodline who have the potential to become Gods. While we have inherited our godliness from birth, a mortal bloodline can do great things, and ascend as we do." She canted her head, remembering the words her mother spoke.

It seemed his pestering was finally paying off. He helped his mother haul skins out to the stones, his cattle dogs more than happy to help out. They'd been doing a great job of keeping an eye on his mum, of making sure she didn't overdo it while he was busy keeping an eye on the borders. As he sprawled out on the ground waiting for others to join them, the two girls settled between his outstretched paws and he took a moment to groom them each between the ears in thanks. It had been a good idea to bring them home, even if they were sometimes a bit noisy (and chewed through two barrels in his den and 3 skins, and chewed through the dirt wall of his den and found a rather cranky badger on the other side).

Other's trickled in, and Kenway lifted up on his elbows a little straighter as his mother began to speak. He had wanted to ask what she had been drawing, but it didn't seem to be the time, or the place. His tail tapped impatiently on the hide, drinking in the words she spoke, grasping at any hint of purpose they might offer.

Dread knows the importance of family, the importance of values, the importance of beliefs. Granted, it's been spurred on by a crisis of conscience after what had gone down with his older brother, but whatever. Feeling farther from it than usual, and filling his days with Deluge and being an asset to the pack. That's what he's here for, right?

Heeding Modesty's call, Dread is quick to arrive and settle in. It's with interest, taking a seat opposite the raid queen. So much question of blood, and he'd pretend that his own didn't leave a bad taste in his mouth, for the moment. Instead, Dread dwells on the divinity that lurks inside his girlfriend, and her mother who sits before him.

Ely had not seen the raid queen in a while. And she’d only met her once. Her mind drifted to the woman draped in the colors of the dancing sky lights. She wondered how she was, an odd thought process for the saxe girl. For typically only her own blood was on her mind. But now it was scalds lineage too…

She was lurking around when she heard the familiar voice in the air. Modesty. Crossing into the borders of the moor. She followed the call until she found herself nearing the familiar woman. As the last to arrive she placed herself beside the others and silently sat down.

Listening as modesty spoke of gods and how mortal bloodlines could be great. Elysia fought to scoff at the back of her throat as she listened. She was raised to believe those not of her blood were lesser than her. To hear modesty’s claims that mortal blooded lineages could do wonders was… contradictory to her own familial nature. But the monochromatic woman stayed listening, mostly out of respect for the woman before her.

A small crowd gathered, Ken and Dread were expected but she was surprised to see Ely. Beyond a lifted brow and a smirk, she kept the surprise off her face, continuing to work the clay between her paws. "Of course, that doesn't mean it is easily earned." She added with a smile and a small dip of her head. "When I was young, my mother would speak of Abraxas, of what it meant to be Abraxas, the god our line came from. But before my first year was done, we were cast out by our family, just like the first God, and so we took his name and became Fallen."

She paused, eyes searching among the gathered as she cast about for the words. Giving lessons while pregnant was a struggle, but she would do her best. "We were told that we would grow in blessed godhood until we eventually ascended off of the mortal plane to take our rightful place by God. We were told even one with god or demon blood may fall from the ranks if they live a meek and ordinary life or outright reject gods, but those who joined us in our dedications and rituals might take their rightful place at God's side." She tipped her head, clearly contemplating the veracity of the claims. It wasn't that she didn't believe her mother, but it wasn't something she had seen with her own eyes. Not yet. "Perhaps that is why my brother is the priest, and I am not..."

"There are gods, there are demons, there are all types of divine beings, and there are mortals. We all have mortal bodies. It's our blood and souls that set us apart. I was only born with quills, but found myself further blessed, and cursed as I grew to where I currently am. My mother said these blessings were to help us conquer this world, but I wonder..." Modesty hadn't spent much of her life so far conquering, perhaps that was part of why she still dwelled on this plain? Perhaps all her fur falling out had been a warning. "Not that you need outward signs to show your blessed nature," it was mostly added for Kenway's benefit. She was sure he was part of someone's puzzle, she just wasn't sure it was part of Abraxas's grand plan.

Ken's head tipped as he considered his mother's words. It was an overview, the broadest strokes, but it did rally some interest in him with regards to his heritage. he considered his siblings, will all their blessings. When compared to him, they certainly seemed to be more favored. His mother was quick to reassure him that didn't mean he was shit out of luck as far as attaining godhood went, even her own blessings had come later in life, so maybe there was hope for him yet?

When she mentioned a brother being a priest, Kenway perked up. Maybe he would be the better one to corner to learn about this sort of stuff. Not that he was questioning his mother's dedication to the cause, but with all that had gone on lately, it wouldn't be unnatural for her to question things. Perhaps he could better support her if he had a better understanding of what the bigger plan was...
