Kina

Kina was sore. Her earlier fights had left her bruised and scratched and she found herself tempted to stay inside and get a little sleep, but she was so close! So close to her goal of five spars in one week, she needed to keep pushing. She could rest and heal up later. Kina winced as she got to her feet and left the den, stretching and warming up her aching muscles. As she moved in the warmth of the sun she started to feel a little better. Who next? Her list was quite arbitrary. She hoped to spar all her siblings one day but for now she wondered if Keisuke would be interested. Only one way to know and if he wasn't there was always plenty to do. She headed to the training grounds and as had become something of a tradition lately she threw back her head and called for her brother.

With their world expanding Keisuke found a great deal of joy in exploring the bamboo. Watching his packmates, learning how they moved, observing their tasks. It brought him joy to see those who were working hard as he began to come up with an idea of what he wanted to do with his life. His father was a protector, the leader of their pack, and the most disciplined of these wolves in his mind. To mold himself into a stealthy fighter, to use the terrain and the world around him to his advantage, was something that Keisuke found appealing. So his days were filled with wandering the bamboo, to know it like he knew his own mind. This was his home, and one day he too would defend it.

A call from one of his sister’s caught his attention and Keisuke lifted his head, ears perked as he took in a breath. Kina… what could she be interested in? Curiosity piqued, the boy set off and began weaving through the bamboo in the direction of the training grounds.

There he found her, his sibling who lacked the bright colors of the koi and yet, at the same time, was unmistakably one of them. A small smile and nod was given in greeting, the young uttering her name. “Kina,” There was a fondness as he came to a stop, arching a brow. He recognized where they were and curiosity became interest. “You wish to spar?”

Kina did not have to wait long for Keisuke to answer. Her brother arrived and she dipped her head in a light bow of greeting and respect. "Yes, Keisuke. I have set a goal for myself. I will do 5 spars in one week, I would greatly appreciate your help in this goal." She stepped back to give them room to begin, setting her defenses. Each day she learned a new one and she was eager to put this into practice. Her ears pinned to her head, tail tucking as her fur and hackles stood on end. She spread her limbs out to shoulder and hip width, her limbs bending in anticipation of movement. When she was sure Keisuke was ready she began the spar. Kina darted toward her brother, slipping to his left side as she tempted to slide along him, fangs lashing out for his left thigh where she hoped to score a hit.

His pale sister dipped her head in greeting and respect, answering his inquiry. A goal of five spars in a week. He dipped his head, acknowledging her request in kind. “It would be an honor, Kina.” He was certain that she had already worked hard in her lessons, and by taking on so many challenges had more experience under her belt as far as fighting went. But Keisuke would not be deterred from giving her a worthy fight. He would slip into the defenses his father had shown them, narrowing his eyes and pinning his ears to his skull. Stance widened, tail aligned with his spine. He readied himself, and Kina, once she was sure he was prepared, made her move. She would come alongside him, fangs seeking his left thigh, slicing lightly into flesh as Keisuke, too, moved. He sought to trip her up, trying to move forward and swing the foreleg closest to her forward and out toward her hind leg. At the same time he sought to retaliate with a bite of his own to her hip, hoping to avoid his sister getting by trying to keep on the move. But would the endeavor work in his favor?

Kina

Kina's fangs scored a hit, tagging her brother's skin, but before she could get her feet planted to make another attack her brother's paw caught her hind leg and sent her flying forward onto her chest with an 'oof'. The sudden fall helped her avoid the worst of her brother's fangs, his teeth instead just clipping her hip. Kina swiftly rolled back to her feet so that she was facing in towards her brother's side. She swiftly charged again, this time lowering her head and trying to crash her little nubs worth of horns into his side between his ribcage and hind legs. She'd spent a fair amount of time practicing attacks with her jaws and it occurred to her she should try practicing with her horns while they were still small and wouldn't do any serious damage to her sparring partners.
