Sakana was becoming busier and busier by the day with both Jael and Modesty pregnant. Having two females pregnant at the same time and due around the same time was a lot to handle. Gilgamesh could commend the boy for being so devout to them and caring to their every need and request. He couldn’t quite get into it. Didn’t really see the reason why they were being so needy. Their paws worked, right?

The lack of empathy had indeed put a wall between them for now, but there was some understanding to it. Gilgamesh wasn’t quite right in the head and they still weren’t sure if he’d ever return to normal. Normal was subjective though and why he was making his way through the moor toward the den of his son, Nimbus. The small cloud splattered boy had voiced an interest in the healing arts, and with Sakana’s approval had said Gilgamesh could seek him out for treatment. Deep down, he knows it’s for company and an attempt to see if he can find the empathy he seems to be missing, but Gilgamesh wouldn’t reveal it unless asked.

So he walks leisurely as he does these days to where Nimbus has made himself a home. Now that their second brood was a year old, he could see how much they had really grown. No longer were they the beach stranded pups trying to drown or get into trouble or dig pits beneath buildings. Well, as he stands in that dew laden grass, his head canting to the side, Gilgamesh isn’t quite sure of that last statement. Not only does he see a den large enough for the boy, but also a work in progress pit nearby with a garden to boot. Another pit? For what? Surely Nimbus didn’t think eels could survive there…

Clearing his throat, Gilgamesh takes a seat and settles himself into a comfortable position. “Nimbus, your patient has arrived,” he calls out, tone vacant of much of anything where humor should have been. Waiting patiently, he continues to examine the pit and the garden, ever curious as to what the boy was up to.

He had been hard at work lately, trying to ensure that his plants were going to survive the winter after they'd been settled in the garden. Spending a few hours per day getting the pond into a state that he was happy with, and toiling at the pit that he would soon occupy with... well. He wasn't totally certain yet. But the pit needed to be dug, regardless of its inhabitants. It was busy work, intended to occupy his time and keep his mind from wandering to the stress that his family had been under. It made him nervous, made his paws itch to move and tend and soothe. He knew it would be overwhelming if he foisted himself upon his mother, now that she was pregnant again. Siduri had practically vanished, which made him even more nervous than when a raid came to their own borders. He didn't like not knowing what everyone was doing, so instead of working himself up, he worked himself to death.

Hence the latest undertaking. Tending to his father after his run in with a bear. Sakana had given him the rundown, and his father was largely recovered from the brink of death, so it was unlikely his fledgling skills would be the cause of his demise. Always a reassuring notion, right? When the looming figure of his father cut a shadow across the clearing, picking his way through the seedling herbs and warily eyeing up the pit off to the side, he quickly sprung up from where he'd been wrist deep in soil and ambled over with a smile. "Hey dad," he doesn't hesitate as he seeks to press his cheek to the titanic male's shoulder in an affectionate greeting. Much like with his mother, it's about as high as he can reach. "how're you feeling today?" he questions with much the same tone that one would ask about plans for the afternoon, or what they wanted for dinner. He's very good at being level-headed and calm, despite the urge to wrap his own father in pillows and stuff him into his den for safekeeping until he was better. Maybe if he dug the pit a bit deeper...

The greyscale waif gestures towards the mound-like structure that serves as his den, with the long tunnel leading into the cool earth below. "If you want to rest, you can head inside, and I'll meet you down there once I've finished up with the plants." he extended the offer easily, and glanced up at the skies for a moment. Clear and blue today, with a few clouds scuttling by. A perfect day to be outside, enjoying the growing chill of winter. "Otherwise, make yourself comfortable out here- sunshine is good for you." the petite male said, tail wagging lightly. He took a few slow strides across the garden again, and busied himself with settling the thick, tuberous roots of wild onion into the soil with careful paws.

Nimbus is quick to answer his call. Gilgamesh had always been a patient man, if the boy had kept him waiting, he wouldn't have bothered to mention it. Rather pleased actually that the boy was eager to press cheek against his shoulder, Gilgamesh leans down to touch his nose to Nimbus' clouded forehead. As he lifts his muzzle, he regards Nimbus and his question with a rumble from his chest. "No better than yesterday," he responds simply, tones even and light, not wishing to have anyone hem and haw over his wellbeing too much.

He's glad Nimbus is also quick to not linger on his wellbeing. The offer to go inside is touching, but Gilgamesh shakes his head. Preferring to stay outdoors, Gilgamesh looks around him and decides that where he stood was as good a spot as any. Turning a few slow circles to help tamp the grass down beneath him, he eventually plops himself down, rolling onto his side and allowing his legs to stretch out.

"Sunshine does have a way of turning one's mood better," Gilgamesh comments as he watches his son mill about, doing whatever task he had been doing previous to his arrival. On that note, it did make the father curious. His pups - who were not so pup anymore - were always up to something, keeping busy or staying in trouble. "What is it that occupies you today?" Gilgamesh inquires, head perking up to see over the grass to wherever Nimbus was.
