Ellara Praetor

Enyo crouched low over the rolling grass of the prairie, her thick paws carefully manipulating the rope in her grasp. The snare trap required precision, something she prided herself on, even if her appearance often spoke more of brute strength than dexterity. Her eyes narrowed in concentration as she looped the cord around a sturdy branch, pulling it taut.

The tall grasses waved around her, save for the occasional rustle of wind through the leaves. She appreciated the quiet was the kind of work that demanded focus. Each knot had to be perfect, the tension exact. One mistake could allow her prey to escape, and failure was not something she tolerated.

Her muscular shoulders flexed as she adjusted the tension. Eyes flicked to the path ahead, imagining the unsuspecting buck she intended to catch. The trap was half-done, but the satisfaction of seeing it come together was already setting in. She tugged the rope once more testing its hold.

Enyo paused, glancing down at her work. It wasn’t finished yet, but the pieces were coming together.

Soon, the hunt would begin.

Perhaps straying far from Insomnia wasn't great considering the ominous sky and rumbling quakes, or the fact that he wasn't so good with directions or retracing his steps yet. But he just couldn't stop- he wanted to see more of this land and wondered if the strange spires had popped up anywhere else. He'd heard of something going on down in the southern continent, but he was too busy imagining the continent to really take in anything that was said about it.

His stomach rumbled with the early pangs of hunger that could be ignored, but even Battery knew that he couldn't miss a meal. The protein and fat from the meat was invaluable, but instead of going through the pack stores again, he figured that maybe he should try hunting something himself. It sounded like a good idea in his head, but in reality, it had taken him two hours already and he hadn't caught anything. He was almost certain that catching something here would be easy, but he was clearly wrong.

He noticed a familiar face and decided to head over, wondering if they'd have had better luck. "Enyo! What is doing out here?" he asked, head tilting as he padded over and came to a stop nearby. Noticing the rope they had knotted, he was eager to see what she was up to.

Ellara Praetor

Enyo’s ears flicked at the sound of approaching steps, her sharp gaze lifting from the half-finished snare to see Battery making his way toward her. She let out a low huff, not surprised by his appearance. Redrum’s brothers always had a way of showing up at the most inconvenient times. Her eyes trailed over his coat, the familiar mix of black, white, and brown reminiscent of Medusa. She straightened slightly but kept her paws on the rope.

"Battery," she greeted him, though her focus remained on her task. "I’m setting a snare trap. Thought I’d try my hand at getting something more elusive this time. Maybe something to feed those rumbling stomachs like yours."

She glanced up, her piercing blue eyes locking onto him with a cool intensity, the faintest smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. "What about you? Out here wandering? Either way, you’ve caught me at work." Her gaze shifted briefly to the ominous sky before returning to the younger wolf.

"You want to be of some use? Stay and assist. Maybe you’ll learn something about traps." She shifted the rope in her grasp and motioned for him to come closer. "Hunting isn’t just about charging after prey. It’s about outsmarting it, too. And right now, we could use a little more of that with all the strange things going on."

The strange happenings were not going to stop anything. Business as usual. There were people to feed.

the city looks so pretty
do you want to burn it with me?

Enyo was making a trap, she said- to capture more elusive prey. Better for smaller wolves like him who couldn't physically take down the larger ones on their own. It would do him good to sit, stay, and learn, and so when she invited him, he promptly sat his ass down with a thud and intently looked over the work she had already done.

"Battery stay and learn. Failed hunt earlier, don't like fail," he said with a brief and slow shake of his head as he looked over her work before looking up to the older woman. "What Battery do?" he asked, asking how he could help. He didn't know the first thing about traps or even really hunting if he were being honest, but Enyo seemed like she knew what she was doing and like she could be a good teacher... even if she was a little annoyed that he'd shown up and interrupted her work. Not that Battery really noticed or understood, anyway.
