Patrolling was a regular part of Mercury’s life. With three territories, there was a lot of ground to cover. But with the Aegis’s newest litter, it felt more important than ever to ensure every inch of the border was walked. A bird’s eye view was a valuable thing as well, and Solar accompanied him on all his day-time patrols. It was the bird who noticed the wolf first, letting out a soft, welcoming caw that surprised Merc. His eyes roved the territory outside the pack, and found movement as she waved to him.
His expression lighting up into a smile, he changed his course, angling towards her and picking up his pace a little. He hadn’t seen Anthea in some time now. She had left the pack in order to learn more about the fate of her people. Something that he had very much respected, and found himself worrying over. He knew what she was likely to find, and it pained him to know she would find it alone. But the Hallows had given him his life, and he couldn’t leave it.
“Anthea!” He said, stopping before her and leaning his muzzle into the space behind her ear in a quick hug. “it’s so good to see you. How are you?”
