Flash Flood!

Pyrite wasn’t in the dens when the warning calls went out. That night she had been scouting or hunting or just being alone in her own head. She wasn’t often a social wolf so it wasn’t surprising she was not asleep with the rest of the pack. Though she hadn’t really decided on a task to be doing either, the night was mostly for soothing her restless paws. As the morning began to dawn, she realized why her paws had been so unable to stay still. There was some deep instinct within her that said she shouldn’t be in the dens. Something was coming.

She was high up on the cliffs when she saw the water come rushing down and fill the dens with water. Fear gripped her heart as she realized she was needed down there. Pyrite steeled herself and made her descent, quickly realizing that she was headed towards Bronze’s den. She hadn’t seen him scramble out, she didn’t even know if he had been home.

Bronze!” She called out as her golden gilded paws splashed into the swift moving water and her eyes scanned for her twin’s form.
