Despite all the dark clouds that seemed to be swirling above Crux's head it seemed moments of levity weren't impossible. As his nephew came bounding in Crux couldn't help but smile and was about to answer the boy's question but the words were replaced with a laugh at the state of Wylan's muzzle. "I'm making poultices." He began to explain as he reached out to gently remove the herbs from his Nephews face and guide them back into the stone bowl. "The flood washed away some of our supplies so I'm doing this to try and make sure what we still have lasts longer, herbs can dry out and become less useful but as long as you store them correctly poultices can keep for longer." Not indefinitely, no he doubted anything could but longer which is what they needed right now.
"You get your herbs, you can mix and match them if they have the same effects, but that should wait until you know them a bit better," Crux reached out to ruffle the fur on his nephew's head as he spoke, "You put them in something called a mortar." He gestured to the one at his paws. "Then you add just a little bit of water and you take a tool called a pestle and mash the herbs up into the water and each other until you get a herb pulp." As he listed the pestle he gestured at the one he'd just been struggling with. "These aren't actually a real mortar and pestle but the idea is very similar. It is a little difficult though." Crux admitted, especially when he had sabres that got in the way. "Did you want to try?" He had to admit he enjoyed teaching the boy, he was eager and what more could you ask for in a student? Might as well let the kid give it a shot, it'd be easy enough to prepare a mixture for him.

Crux has a 6 inch long burn scar on his throat, most of his art does not reflect this.
