She came close to him in order to inspect the wall, and he opened his maw, breathing in deeply the scents around her. There was the tang of metal, and the scent of her companion. And yes, mixed in with that he could faintly smell Wylan, Spider, and Bronze. “Have you now?” he asked, dangerously gentle. “Should I be jealous?” mine. She knew who she belonged to, he had been clear at every turn.

He left her question unanswered, gouging her reaction to his own. It was a minor powerplay as well, waiting until she had given him an answer before he would answer her own.
