Shit. He'd rather they be mad at him than Ignita. But it was as if he'd used up his quota of words. The flood had damned up, and he didn't know what to say. He'd never been very good at the emotional side of things, but he loved his kid. This whole damn mess had tangled them up. That was his fault, and he wasn't going to punish Spider for feeling. 

He didn't try to reach out for Spider, not knowing what he'd do if they rejected him. He sat there for a moment in silence. “Take your time to adjust to this. You're the first to know. If you need anything, I'm here.” He said at last.
