An Unexpected Welcome
Redrum watched the bear retreat into the forest, its injured limb forcing it to limp away from the confrontation. His muscles ached from the exertion, but he kept his stance ready, just in case the bear decided to return. As the adrenaline began to ebb, he turned his attention to the woman who had introduced herself as Lukina and commented about her lapse in attentiveness to her surroundings. Her gratitude was met with a curt nod from Redrum, his golden eyes taking in her condition. The wound on her side looked painful, and he could see the strain in her posture. Despite her obvious discomfort, she carried herself well after the attack.
“Lukina did not end up– as bear food, that is a good– thing.” He replied, his voice as steady as he could make it. “Redrum is Redrum. Heir of –Insomnia. Redrum’s mother has healers– to tend to Lukina’s –wounds.” He stepped closer, examining her injury with a discerning eye. “Repay in hunting– down bear for– food.” He grinned here, like a cheshire cat. A joke, maybe. “Follow Redrum? To Insomnia. Not far.” Redrum turned, gesturing for her to follow as he led the way through the forest. The path was familiar to him, and he moved with confidence, ensuring that Lukina could keep pace despite her injury. As they walked, he kept his senses alert for any signs of danger, unwilling to let his guard down after the recent battle.
