Loading up

Life just wanted to rush her through all the milestones when she could barely keep up with herself. She was excited and worried and nervous and joyous and grateful and all the things! She ushered the children up into the cart after Bas made the call out. She kissed Orso on his little reindeer nose for being so diligent and hard-working. She looked up at their falcons circling together overhead and her possum settling in with some of the kids. Did she have some paper to sketch on for their journey? What about a book to read to them? Should she bring her painting supplies? So many things to think about! What did each child need, she needed an extra bag to keep herbs for Jamie or any others that might catch a cold. Would Jamie be okay on the journey?

Her mind was buzzing with all the questions and worries. At least the journey down to the Hallows had become familiar to her. She'll be as ready as she'll ever be, probably forgetting something for sure. She glanced at Bas and suddenly her world felt warm and still around her. Her mind filled with his certainty. She leaned against him and stole a kiss as the little ones all loaded in.
