Ellara Praetor

Enyo’s massive frame moved silently through the dense woods, her paws pressing into the frozen ground. The cold air was sharp and biting, but she welcomed it. The icy winds felt foreign, having become so accustomed to the warmth that was Boreas. Yet this place, Auster, was not her home. The way the frost bit into her thick fur in a different way than the suffocating humidity of their homeland was a constant reminder that they were far from Insomnia. Even the bugs seemed to invade wherever they rested their heads.

Enyo did not take long to decide she did not like Auster. Something about the land felt... untamed.

The two siblings' scent seemed stronger than ever in the still air. The vines trapped heat but also smells, signaling their approach long before their heavy paws reached the den she and Erebros had made for themselves among the twisted vines. Her head was held high, eyes gleaming with their usual sharp intelligence. The steely glow of her right eye cut through the darkness, while the icy blue of the other seemed to shimmer, reflecting the cold landscape around them. Erebros's hulking form matched her stride, the two would be a formidable sight.

But as they neared the vine-covered entrance of their makeshift shelter, something felt... off. Enyo’s nostrils flared, picking up the faint trace of an unfamiliar scent. Her lip curled instinctively, revealing a flash of her powerful teeth. She halted, broad shoulders stiffening as her piercing gaze narrowed, scanning the surroundings. The scent was faint but unmistakable. Someone had been here.

“Erebros,” her velvety voice rumbled in low volume. Her tone conveyed no panic, but the sharpness of her words hinted at the simmering anger beneath her composed exterior. She motioned with a flick of her ear toward their den, where the faintest traces of disturbance could be seen. A footprint in the hard ground, barely noticeable, but enough for her keen eyes. The vines seemed to hang differently. Disturbed, brushed aside with a carelessness that indicated an intruder. There was no fear, especially with her brother by her side. There would be no need for words, the two had been in many situations such as this before. Deadly and efficient were the pair and Enyo would no one other than her brother Erebros in a situation where force was required.

Regardless of her confidence, her heart surged with the familiar heat of fury. Of deep rooted resentment that always sparked when her space was violated. But her face remained a mask of control. If it had been any other season, Enyo perhaps would not have been so triggered. However the woman was in heat, and her hormones flared up. Emotions were high and her temper even hotter. Her vanity and pride dictated that she must maintain composure, even now. Yet inside, she raged. How dare they enter her space? Her presence demanded respect, not intrusion. After such a long journey and failed attempts at recruiting, the woman just wanted to rest.

How dare they?

Lowering her head, Enyo stalked forward, each step deliberate, muscles coiled beneath her thick, dense fur. The glow from the cavernous canopy above filtered down in weak slivers, highlighting her half-and-half face in an almost haunting light.

Should Erebros take the lead, she would follow.
