To hot for this.
Everything felt unfamiliar to the brute as his paws sank into the dried grasses, each blade pricking at his tender pads like countless needles. He realized he was farther away from the Alabastrine Shrine than he had been since arriving in these strange lands, where he had finally found Atreyu and the others. However, today he needed to clear his mind of recent events. A temperate grassland stretched out before his ice-blue gaze, with most of the grasses drying and brittle to the touch, while patches remained a deep green. The sky was overcast, holding the promise of rain later, and he hoped it would hold off just a bit longer; he wanted to explore the prairie ahead of him.
He wasn't one to stray far from his family or pack, yet there was a persistent urge within him to seek out new hunting grounds or possibly form alliances with another pack or a rogue. As his eyes swept the landscape, he observed pronghorns grazing on the tougher blades of grass and hares nibbling on purple clover shoots. He licked his lips, his natural curiosity pulling him to linger a bit longer. Some deer emerged from their hiding spots, while birds took to the sky. Vayne was fully immersed in the world around him.
He would gather some strong vines that grew like wild fire across the ground, ears listening carefully. The male tested some vines and placed the good ones to the side, discarding the rest. It was time consuming sure, but for what he needed it for, they had to be strong, able to hold some power. He tugged and tore, breaking a heavier vine that was within his way to make it stick out of the ground enough that if he was lucky the pronghorn wouldn't be paying attention at all, when that time came.
