Wake is only loosely supervising the pup, lancing each of the poppy pods to allow more of the latex to flow out. He'd need to come back in a few hours and scrape the dry residue for collection, but it shouldn't take too long-- not with the summer heat. The poppies that he hadn't gotten to soon enough would be collected for seeds, either for trade or for replanting next season. It's all part of the process, even if Wake isn't great at the whole processing part of it. All practice, as long as he kept telling himself that.
Sagittarius growled at the plants, and he couldn't help but give a wry smile. At least she's got the energy for it. "Exactly like that. If you disturb the poppy roots, you can just squish the dirt back down around it. See?" Wake moved to the girl's side, demonstrating the process. Carefully squishing down the disturbed soil, putting it back into place. Thankfully, the plants are pretty hardy.
"Yeah, that's why they're not for eating." Confident grin growing wider, a little chuckle at his sister. "The dandelions taste okay when they're still yellow, before they're all fluffy like this. They can go into mead, and some medicines." Wake gestures at some of the low ground cover, the puffy dandelion heads having long-since gone to seed. While the roots and stems could be useful still, they were already well stocked. Wake wasn't about to take the time to separate them from the rest of the less useful weeds. Into the burn pile they went.
