Can you still love the devil

Ignita felt his demeanor soften as he was immediately soothed and couldn't help but wonder if what she had said was true. The words had just fallen out of her mouth as a form of excuse without truly thinking. She was dazed as he kissed the crown of her head, unsure now of what had actually happened just now.

She had distressed him somehow. She laid her head over his shoulder while he rocked her. The movement soothing to her worn overworked mind. She closed her eyes as she felt his warm arms around her. It was already late in the day and the puppies would be coming soon to settle in for bed. Might as well catch some shut-eye before they start the evening routine. She tucked her nose into his arm and quickly fell asleep without another word, too fatigued to mention much of anything else.
