He wouldn't even deny that he was difficult! How infuriating. Vail would just huff and wag her tail once in exasperation. He would lead her off and she would follow, slightly begrudgingly but there was still a curiosity within her. What in the world did he think he could 'show' a little blind wolf anyway? With her ears perked and her focus on their walk silence would hang over them until they reached what she assumed was the opening of a cave. Like when they searched for the healer's den in old Threar lands she could feel the small shifts of air currents around such an opening. She'd shake her head at his comment, alright guess that meant to act normal! Snorting at him she would also follow behind, slipping into the earth behind him.

All at once she would realize rather clearly why he'd thought to bring her down here specifically. She could not detect the lights that littered the ceiling or the glow of the lightning bugs, but she could hear their wings as the gentle babble of water. It almost reminded her of the cave her mother had taken her to at the rapids, the sound was soft, sweet, and ever so relaxing. She'd do as he said, keeping to the left as they inched towards their destination. She'd easily feel the warmth of the rock beneath them and wouldn't hesitate to mimic Solor's actions. Vail would fold her limbs and lay down quietly, finding an appreciation in the soundscape as well as a newfound one in her companion. Not that she was about to tell him anything of the sort.

Solor

Solor could be silent when the situation was appropriate, and he would prove that now as he lay there beside her, keeping his breath even and soft, a whisper amung the other soothing sounds of the cave. Closing his eyes, he could really appreciate this place, he could hear the gurgle of underground water finding air in the larger water behind them, and the gentlest ripples against the smaller, paddle water before them that touched the cave wall. Clearly there must be a soft draft from somewhere, he could feel it on his skin, and it kept the warm cave from becoming over heated.

Of course, his first and only other visit to this cave had been vastly different. He had been a bumbling fool, groping his way through the darkness. He had fallen into the larger pool fast first, not expecting its presence. He had kicked and floundered to the surface, yelling out his sisters name. He had scared away the light of the glow bugs with his noise and movements. Not that Vail needed to hear any of this, let her believe he found his cave with dignity.

Lying comfortably on heated ground had its benefits, and with the silence and serenity about him, the boy was asleep in moments. His soft breathing transformed into hearty snoring. Every breath out, and the glow bugs skittered in the air, their lights flicking out, their wings falling silent as they landed on the ceiling wall. As he breathed in, they timidly let out their buzzing little wings once more – and so the process repeated.

The silence would consume them, coming in and falling over like a blanket. The only sound from either wolf was the gentlest whispers of breath. Around them the sounds of dancing water would surround, echoing off the cave walls and creating an incredible experience. Vail would sit and listen quietly, finding herself exceedingly comfortable but she was used to darkness and did not feel tired because of it. Solor on the other hand. He almost scared her out of her fur hith his first loud snore. She'd catch her breath easy enough, and with every intention of waking him she'd say, "Solor you dolt, stop snoring." She'd try to use one of her back paws to swipe, searching for purchase on his rump to help her words sink in.

Solor

He had fallen so quickly into a cozy sleep that even the few moments he was allowed would disorientated him. As a swipe caught him on the rump he growled, the sound innocent and funny rather then scary and furious. “Go away, Faun” he growled at her. He was comfortable and warm, it was nice to sleep. Reluctantly, one eye did however click open, and he sighed softly. Right, not his annoying sister, and not home. How long did he sleep for anyway? He shrugged out his coat, and couldn't find any kinks in his muscles, he must have barely slipped into sleep.

“What?” he asked Vail a little bleary eyed. “Am I boring you, Vail?” he wanted to know. His voice was soft, and a little husky. He was still trying to keep it quiet enough not to scare away the show.

She wasn't really surprised when he said his sister's name, of course he'd be more used to a sibling waking him up. Not that it didn't take him long to realize, as he shifted he'd question her. Was he the boring one? "No, but your snoring was too loud to focus over." She'd whisper back, hoping to convey the edge to her voice. She'd shake her head at him even though it was likely he couldn't even see her movements. "Who falls asleep during a performance like this anyway?" Her voice dripped in sarcasm, now that the idea was in her head she might have taken a nap too. She'd end with a soft sigh as she put her paws onto her feet, he might have fallen asleep again she wasn't sure, but Vail was well on her way to a nap herself. Her family wouldn't miss her for a while anyway, she could relax here with Solor for a while.
