Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Ashiel didn't bother addressing Dragon's words, he'd already said his piece. All of Talis could whine about the big mean baddie picking on the poor blind alpha but it didn't change the fact that this was how nature worked.  It was in the nature of the wolf to pick off the weak. What was Dragon hoping? That if he looked pathetic enough he could guilt any potential challengers away?  Ashiel would not be conned by foolish pride. Further more he couldn't give a rat's ass if Talis rebuilt. That wasn't the point. Had he wanted to crush the whole pack he'd have led his family right into their packlands and decimated them. No, he just needed to complete the ritual to start his own pack with the fallen god's blessing. What happened after that was irrelevant. Besides, it might be nice to have a few mortal packs lounging around. He did have a use for them after all, little did they know. Circling above, Griff had chuckled at the jaguars commenting on him being a snack. Like they could catch him! His sharp gaze watched them, ready to call out to Ashiel. They had put together a series of cries that the godling could distinguish to let him know when his one-on-one fight turned into a melee. This battle thrilled him and the kite was finally feeling like he was part of the old legends. Now all they had to do was win.

————————— FIGHT CHUNK —————————

Dragon moved a step to Ashiel's right bringing them back in perfect alignment. As a result the front of Ashiel's left shoulder would collide with the front of Dragon's right shoulder, spoiling both their attacks. Moderate bruising would blossom across the front of Ashiel's left shoulder and he could only imagine the same would occur for his opponent. The impact spoiled his attempt at dislocating his opponents shoulder, but it had also spoiled Dragon's own attempt at ramming his right shoulder into Ashiel's throat. Because they were perfectly centered, and pressed close together, Dragon couldn't ram his shoulder straight into Ashiel's throat. Instead Dragon's right shoulder would knock against the lower left side of Ashiel's neck, leaving only light bruising due to Ashiel's shoulder collision weakening his momentum.

Their direct alignment also brought both wolves' chests crashing squarely into each other. Ashiel had exhaled prior to impact and so was able to inhale sharply right after the impact and keep his breath. However, moderate bruising would also begin to bloom across the center of his chest.

Dragon's upper body would begin to lift and Ashiel's right forepaw would slam down onto the earth, missing it's target. The moment his right forepaw connected with the earth all four of his limbs would coil sharply as he ducked down, letting his body fall smoothly and gracefully like water over stone in a deep crouch, his hind legs coiled like springs. Ashiel's jaws, which had missed Dragon's face, had instead torn moderate lacerations in the topmost part of Dragon's left shoulder. Thankfully he hadn't been going for a grip so he was able to swiftly tuck his chin and duck his head down to bring it in line with his spine. His tail would tuck tightly between his legs, his shoulders rolling forward as his claws dug into the earth, his weight spread out evenly amongst his limbs while his hackles remained raised and his ears pinned to his head. The resulting ducking motion would cause Dragon's arms to wrap over nothing but air and the alpha's chest would sail over his head, missing him.

Ashiel's narrowed peridot eyes would land on Dragon's spreading hind legs and the godling's own hind legs would uncoil, launching him directly forward, underneath Dragon's body. His head would twist sharply to his own right as he attempted to snatch Dragon's penis between his jaws in a brutal hold meant to render the appendage from the alpha's body. It hadn't occurred to him that such a move, if it succeeded, would have him facing down Iskra's wrath. Had that thought entered his mind he might have reconsidered but the temptation had been too great and he had reacted too swiftly. He was in full battle mode.

Simultaneously, as Ashiel surged forward he would shift his weight to his forelegs and attempt to lance both his shoulders forward and up seeking to crash them into Dragon's tender underbelly, a few inches back from the man's sternum. His left shoulder sought to strike the right underside of Dragon's abdomen while his right shoulder sought to strike the left underside of Dragon's abdomen. He sought to severely bruise each area and strike with enough force to make Dragon shudder with nausea. Yes, there was a chance he'd get thrown up on but it would be worth it.

Again, because of his sudden duck Dragon's attack would fail as the alpha's jaws missed shredding into Ashiel's face. He kept his ears peeled for cries from Griff but for now his companion simply continued to circle over the battle.

Curses! He felt nothing! He had failed to give Ashiel a hug! He seemed to have completely missed the boy and he snarled in frustration. Maybe this would be harder than he thought, but still he wasn't just going to lie down and roll over for the Abraxas. He felt fur brush beneath his body for a second and instinctively Dragon curled his tail down beneath his body to protect his underside. Due to his momentum from his attempted assaults, Dragon managed to sail right over Ashiel, earning no more than a nip and probably some missing hairs off the tip of his tail from Ashiel's bite. He had dodged him for the most part, his momentum had also saved him from a gut wrenching attack that, had he not been able to dodge, might have resulted in him puking out his dinner all over Ashiel. As much as he disliked the situation with this challenge, even he would have felt bad for throwing up on Pyralis' son.

Dragon would land a foot behind Ashiel, and the moment his feet touched the ground he would pivot around, spinning on his heels until he was face to butt with Ashiel though slightly off center and a step or so to his (Dragon's) right. His defenses would remain intact, ears pinned securely to his skull, lips peeled back to expose his fangs, tail remained tucked to protect his bits, hackles raised and his head lowered with chin tucked to protect his throat, shoulders rolled forward to bunch up his scruff. His body was held low to the ground, joints bent as he then sought to charge forward to try and close the foot of distance between them. If he was lucky enough, maybe he'd actually do some damage this time, and Dragon hoped for the best but would also be prepared for the worst.

Jutting his right shoulder forward, Dragon sought to slam it straight into Ashiel, though with his (Dragon's) positioning, he was actually aiming right towards Ashiel's right hind leg just above the knee with as much force as he could. Should his attack succeed, then the goal was to shatter the boys femur, or at the very least cause his leg to seize up and leave some potentially gnarly bruising in his wake. As he attempted this, his right forepaw shot out, weight redistributing to his other three limbs, seeking to hook Ashiel's right ankle and yank it towards him in a bid to try and throw the boy off balance and to try and bring his leg in closer for added damage. Simultaneously, his left shoulder was aimed right towards Ashiel's family jewels. Although he didn't know exactly where on Ashiel's behind he was aiming at, if he were to hit this mark, then Ashiel would be in for a very painful surprise.

Lastly, Dragon's jaws opened up, head tilting to his right as he sought to aim a bite at the back of Ashiel's right thigh dead center. Upper fangs sought to pierce and firmly grip the meaty part of his opponents thigh on the outside, while lower fangs sought to pierce and grip the inside of Ashiel's thigh. Should he succeed, then Dragon's goal would be to hold on for dear life! He wanted to drag his opponent down, slow his movements, and cripple him for the duration of the fight.

Lateness was not something Kharnage usually advocated, but he'd sat in enraged turmoil for a good moment when he'd heard the call for his sibling ring out from the boneyard. It was a daunting sound with an intent that Kharn wished could have been avoided. He hadn't been privy to the things that Dragon had been up to lately, but had he known about him bringing strangers into their home it was something he would have spoken up against. Since the aftermath of the raid, and their stinging loss, he'd kept to himself. He'd spent his time wandering the depths of Auster and contemplating how to improve himself. Clearly he should have been around to give advice to his sibling.

Dragon's blindness was what worried him the most. He was aware of the female in their midst that managed to survive, even thrive as a healer, with her disability. Dragon was not Armai though - Dragon had been blinded in the raid, not born with it, and hadn't had the years of experience to learn how to overcome it. As proud as he was of his brother for him retaining his leadership, and even being willing to fight for them, he found it stupid. He himself had been blinded in one eye in his last fight and even he wasn't too keen on returning to any serious battles until he figured out how to compensate for his new weakness.

His thoughts were why he was late to the battle. The two males were already going at it and he watched with rapt attention for a brief moment before a scent drew his attention elsewhere. He paused on the edge of the crowd and his gaze flashed towards a form he'd hoped he'd never have to see again. His lip curled up in a snarl as his left eye rested on his estranged brother. What in the absolute fuck was he doing here? Probably to gloat. That seemed like the most accurate answer he could come up with so he settled on that. He turned his nose up at the other male before his gaze rested on the dwarf near him. Now that was an odd sight - he'd never seen a wolf as short and malformed as that one. Could it even be considered a wolf? He smelled like the plethora of other wolves on the opposing side. Had an entire pack showed up in support of the challenger? That was interesting and yet irritating at the same time. Not only was his sibling fighting for his pack, but now he had a giant crowd to witness it.

He scanned over the other pack's attendees for a brief moment before glaring daggers at Lykos once more. Once he was done with that he padded over to his mother and stood beside her protectively. He could sense her own frustration and the last thing he wanted was one of the opposing pack's members to set her off. She was old, something he didn't like to think about despite their past differences, and the last thing she needed was to get in a fight. He certainly wasn't opposed to ripping these wolves' a new one, but he refrained and instead stood restlessly beside Avalon. Dragon didn't need any distractions so instead he waited impatiently to see the result of their fight.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Ashiel's fangs and shoulders would miss their targets as Dragon sailed over his head but he'd already let it go and moved on to his next set of attacks. Dragon wasn't going to get away from him so easily. With is weight already shifted forward and his forelegs planted it was a simple enough matter for Ashiel to kick off with his hind legs and pivot 180 degrees around to face Dragon. It seemed the other man had had the same idea as they were now facing head on. Ashiel maintained his defenses. His tail remained tucked between his legs, his head aligned with his spine as his chin tucked and his shoulders rolled forward, his neck scrunching back. His hackles remained raised, his ears pinned to his head as his toes spread, claws digging into the earth. Ashiel's weight was spread evenly across his limbs which were bent slightly to keep him agile and ready to move.

Dragon was a step or so to Ashiel's left and Ashiel swiftly took a step to his own right as the godling's powerful legs uncoiled. He attempted to come in low and collide with Dragon head on but off to his own right so his left shoulder lined up with the center of Dragon's chest. Ashiel's pivot and step to his right had displaced most of Dragon's attacks. Instead of colliding with his femur Dragon's right shoulder would hit nothing but air. The alpha's right forepaw would also miss snagging Ashiel's right ankle for the same reasons and instead flail about between his forelegs. He couldn't entirely avoid Dragon's jaws but due to his change in position Dragon's lower fangs would rip light lacerations across the outside of his upper left shoulder, flecking blood into the air and failing to gain a hold. As for Dragon's left shoulder, Ashiel was prepared to take that damage head on. As he launched himself at Dragon he attempted to counter the shoulder by throwing his chest right into it, knowing he'd take on damage for his ploy if he succeeded. He hoped that he could hit Dragon's shoulder with enough power to jam the limb and cause significant bruising. Again he planned to exhale before impact to avoid knocking the breath from his lungs.

Simultaneously, Ashiel would throw the point of his left shoulder forward and up seeking to crash it into the top of Dragon's trachea, a few inches below his jawline. His goal was to severely bruise the area and cause enough damage that his opponent would be left choking and sputtering for air. In addition Ashiel would shift his weight to his hind legs and front left leg as he sought to raise his right forepaw and attempted to sneak it behind Dragon's left wrist. Ashiel hoped to catch it and pull it forward so he could unbalance his opponent and make it more difficult for him to leap away.

At the same time as his chest surged forward so would Ashiel's jaws. He twisted his head his own left attempting to dig his fangs deep into the lower outer portion of Dragon's left shoulder, where the bottom of the shoulder connected to the upper arm. He sought a hold that would tear his teeth into the wide band of ligaments that connected the large trapezius muscle to the rest of the limb. Ashiel hoped to bite deep enough that he could shred the ligaments and partially cripple the limb. He needed to start limiting Dragon's movement.

Frustration was starting to make its way into his mind as the fight wore on. His right shoulder missed, and his right forepaw had missed hooking Ashiel's ankle. Which only served to warn him that Ashiel had moved and had more than likely turned around to face him again based on what he could hear, and if Ashiel had been quick and smart enough then Dragon figured the younger male wouldn't leave his back exposed. To him, it felt like they were dancing more than fighting, but he supposed it was better then both of them getting completely torn up. Then again, his disability probably served to work against him at times. He couldn't really aim exactly where he wanted to, so every attempt of his was a hit or miss. As soon as he realized that he had failed in his endeavor to hook his opponent, he quickly replanted his paw on the ground and ensured his defenses remained in place with ears pinned, hackles raised, tail flagging out for balance, and toes splayed with claws biting the soil for traction.

He felt his bottom fangs cut through the flesh on Ashiel's shoulder, but it wasn't exactly what he'd been trying to go for. As soon as he felt that, he clicked his jaws shut for a moment as he tucked his head back, chin tucking over his throat and head aligning with his spine. Heart pounded hard in his chest, the blood roaring in his ears as the adrenaline surged through him. His eyes instinctively darted to the side as if he were trying to gauge his surrounding, but he knew that was an impossible feat. Dragon's left shoulder struck Ashiel square in the center of his chest, a moderate to severe bruise sure to blossom on his own shoulder. With a grunt of slight satisfaction at finally hitting a decent mark, he began to shift his position once more.

After they collided, Dragon would stumble to his right by a couple of steps. He was getting frustrated, and the impact had both surprised him a little and jarred him. Teeth gritted together, a growl of frustration slipping past his teeth as he bared his fangs again. He wasn't completely sure if they were still aligned, but he would endeavor to make a move. He had recovered rather quickly, paws replanting firmly in the soil, and at this point they were practically shoulder to shoulder (Dragon's left shoulder to Ashiel's left shoulder). Due to his new position, Ashiel's left shoulder would miss the target of hitting his trachea, and instead would collide with the upper left part of Dragon's chest. A moderate bruise blossoming in its wake.

Ashiel's right forepaw would completely miss hooking Dragon's left forepaw, meanwhile Ashiel's teeth would catch Dragon behind his left elbow where his ribs began, leaving behind puncture wounds an inch or so deep. Ignoring the pain, Dragon's hind legs coiled enough to thrust him forward while simultaneously swinging his rump away (to his right) from Ashiel, just enough to where they would be at a sharp and crooked "<" shape. He sought to align himself with the left side of Ashiel's abdomen where the rib cage ended (give or take a few inches, he can't exactly tell where he's aiming XD).

Dragon shot his right paw forward, seeking to hook it once more around Ashiel's left ankle and drag it out from under him. Simultaneously, he sought to surge forward and slam the entirety of his chest straight into Ashiel's ribs on the left side. Left shoulder jutted forth, aiming to slam the point of it into Ashiel's rib cage as hard as he could, with right shoulder aiming to slam into the softer, unprotected part of Ashiel's abdomen. Jaws flung open, a fierce snarl escaping his jaws as he then tilted his head up and aimed to bite Ashiel's back, just a couple inches before his tail. His goal was to dig his upper fangs into the right side of Ashiel's spine, and bottom fangs into the left side. He sought to get a grip, or at least inflict an uncomfortable amount of pain on the boys back.

It was here that Kimahri would at last make an entrance, running towards the pair from Ashiel's right side (opposite from where Dragon was). Once within striking distance, Kimahri sought to deliver a bite onto the right side of Ashiel's neck. Bottom canines sought to pierce the flesh where the windpipe was, and upper canines sought to pierce the flesh on the right side of the neck where shoulder met the upper neck. His main goal was to distract Ashiel, but he would be pleased with any bonus points he might get if he actually succeeded in landing a bite.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Pain spread across the center of Ashiel's chest, a moderate bruise beginning to form, as he successfully collided into the front of Dragon's left shoulder. He swiftly inhaled after the impact, ready to keep going as he pushed the pain from his mind. He was starting to get tired. This fight was going on longer than expected and he hadn't managed yet to slow his opponent down. Ashiel's left shoulder would strike Dragon's upper left chest instead of his throat, leaving light bruising on Ashiel's shoulder for his trouble. His right forepaw would miss, which he swiftly returned to the earth. He was pleased though that his fangs had managed to catch Dragon's left side, just behind his elbow leaving deep punctures. It was a fair mark, but not the sort of injury that was going to end this fight. Ashiel maintained his defenses. His hackles were raised, his ears pinned. His tail remained tucked and his neck aligned with his spine, scrunching back as his shoulders rolled forward, his chin tucking. He swiftly reset his stance after his failed attacks, settling his weight evenly over his limbs. His toes spread, claws digging into the earth.  He heard Griff's call and knew the fight was about to get harder.

Keen peridot eyes were focused on his opponent and as Dragon moved to get at his left side Ashiel would swing his hindquarters to his own right in an attempt to turn the tables on his opponent and bring them into parallel alignment but with Ashiel facing slightly in toward Dragon's left hind leg. His efforts would displace his opponent's attacks. He felt Dragon's right paw scrape the outside of his left ankle but it would fail to grab hold. Due to Ashiel's pivot Dragon's chest and right shoulder would miss their targets though his left shoulder would just graze the upper left side of Ashiel's ribcage. Pain would greet Ashiel once again as Dragon's jaws tore light lacerations across his upper left side, a few inches before his tail. He wasn't so lucky with the jaguar. Griff's cry had come a bit to late but Ashiel's rotation had pulled his neck out of the way of the jaguar's attack. However, the cat's vicious fangs still managed to connect with his upper forearm leaving moderate puncture wounds but failing to get a grip as Ashiel finished his pivot.

Digging his hindpaws into the ground Ashiel's legs uncoiled as he launched himself toward Dragon. Lowering himself slightly, Ashiel attempted to slam the lower portion of his chest directly into Dragon's left knee seeking to hit with enough force to cause moderate bruising and hopefully sprain the ligaments surrounding the patella. Simultaneously he'd lance the point of his left shoulder forward trying to smash it into the tender flesh of Dragon's left side, just in front of the man's left hindleg. He hoped to cause significant bruising. At the same time Ashiel's head would twist to his left and up as he attempted to dig his fangs into the upper front of Dragon's left hind leg, where the leg connected to Dragon's left side, a paw's width down from the alpha's back. Ashiel wanted to dig his fangs into Dragon's flesh in a powerful grip meant to sever the top of the Sartorius muscle and cripple the movement of his opponent's left hind leg. He wasn't done though, his weight would shift evenly to his hindlegs and left front leg as he sought to lift his right forepaw and attempted to wrap it behind Dragon's left ankle. He wanted to grab it and pull the limb towards him, hoping that if he combined it with his chest and shoulder strike that he could off balance his opponent.

Seeing one of Dragon's companions get involved Griff would cease his circling in the sky and dive down, leveling off to come horizontally straight at Dragon's face. The kite's talons would extend as the bird attempted to drive the top two talons of his right right foot into Dragon's left eye. Yes, he knew the alpha was blind but the man's eyeball was still in tact and the kite hoped to pierce it and cause the alpha terrible pain that would make him submit.

Their positions would change once more, bringing the pair near parallel to one another. Ears shifted atop his head as he listened to Ashiel's footsteps, alerting him to this change though he could just as easily hear the hard breathing of his opponent. This fight was dragging on, and Dragon was growing tired and was sure his opponent was too. This was perhaps the longest fight he'd been in, the fights at the raid had been separated into several, but at least at that time he had been able to catch his breath in between each one. But this? He didn't have that option.

He felt his right forepaw scrape Ashiel's left ankle, but since he had failed to actually grab hold, he replanted his paw on the ground. His right shoulder likewise would miss, as did his chest but still he wouldn't lose hope. His teeth would connect with Ashiel's body, leaving light lacerations and his left shoulder would connect in some form as well, though not in the way he had hoped. Dragon would strive to keep his defenses in place, tail tucking, ears pinning to his head, hackles remained raised along his body, shoulders rolled forward to protect the sides of his neck, scruff bunched, head lowering once again over his throat, chin tucking and his legs were equidistant apart with toes splayed and claws biting the earth for traction.

In a quick ditch effort, Dragon sought to hop away from Ashiel, hind paws doing a sort of half-hop and stumble to his own right, somewhat displacing Ashiel's attacks but not completely. With this half-attempt at escaping Ashiel's onslaught, his hind end dropped lower to the ground in a sort of half crouch, knees bent and legs coiled. His movement would displace his opponents onslaught to higher up on his rump and upper thigh. Ashiel's chest would graze the upper portion of the left side of Dragon's thigh, his left shoulder struck Dragon's upper left side just above his abdomen, leaving a moderate bruise and lastly, Ashiel's fangs would cut into his left thigh a few inches from the top of his rump, leaving behind moderate lacerations. Ashiel would also succeed in hooking Dragon's left hind ankle, however, with most of his weight upon his hind legs and with his hind end crouched close to the ground, Ashiel would fail in unbalancing the earthen alpha.

Adrenaline was wearing off, and this fight needed to end. Be it he or his opponent that walked away victorious today, he had to admit that Ashiel seemed quite the worthy opponent. Though Dragon hadn't been in too many fights as crazy as this, he didn't think he'd mind pitting himself against Ashiel again in the future if only to test one another for sport or for stakes such as this.

Now, it was his turn to have one last go before the last of his energy died out. Dragon curled his upper body inwards towards his left and towards Ashiel, seeking to thrust the entirety of his chest into Ashiel's left flank, his hind legs uncoiling, thrusting him forward as he pushed against the ground with as much power and force as he could. His goal was to unbalance him, perhaps even topple him over if he could. His left shoulder lanced forward, the earthen male seeking to drive it directly into the left side of Ashiel's abdomen (stomach?) just behind his rib cage where the flesh was tender to try and leave bruising and make sore the tender flesh and muscle that sat there. Simultaneously, his right shoulder would seek to dig into Ashiel's rib cage, more so to make these close quarters uncomfortable should his opponent seek to follow his movements, though bruising would be a bonus.

Dragon's ears flicked slightly when he heard a warning cry from Shiva, and suddenly he remembered that Ashiel had a bird with him. In the nick of time, Dragon ducked his head lower towards Ashiel's abdomen, ears tightly tucked but it didn't completely save him. He felt Griff's talons hit somewhere on the top of his head, ultimately lopping off part of his right ear (like ~this~ but more tattered) but the adrenaline and focus on the fight had kept him from feeling exactly what damage had been done. and a moment after he could feel blood trickling down the side of his face. Gritting his teeth against the pain, Dragon sucked it up and pressed on.

Running footsteps caught his attention, and before he knew it he could hear a fierce battle cry and then Shiva's scent hit him. His female companion had at last entered the fray, seeking to aid him in his endeavor. She came in from behind Ashiel and in front of Dragon, the feline aiming a right forepaw straight at Ashiel's right hind ankle. She sought to slash at Ashiel's achilles tendon, seeking to cut through tendons and muscle in an effort to ultimately end this match! As Shiva did this, Dragon would do what he could to try and bring this to an end. Win or lose, he would have no qualms with Ashiel over this. Well, asides from the fact that he thought they were friends..or at least acquaintances on some level. Perhaps he was wrong, perhaps not. He didn't know.

Dragon twisted his head towards Ashiel's left hind leg, jaws gaping open as he sought to pierce and grip Ashiel's left thigh. Upper fangs sought the inner part of Ashiel's thigh, and bottom fangs sought the outer, meaty part. He sought to grip just above Ashiel's knee, and as he attempted this, his right forepaw once again, aimed to hook around Ashiel's left hind ankle in an attempt to drag the foot towards him to both make Ashiel stumble and to bring his leg further into his mouth. Hopefully, Shiva's attack would distract his opponent, but whether or not this worked, Dragon's energy was nearly depleted...

DRAGON:

WRITING

5/10 for Power Play:

  • Attempts
-1 “Finally with the last two feet of distance, Dragon lunged forward.” By stating the distance this way you are forcing your opponent to stick with the move. What if in the next post Ashiel altered his attacks in some way to counter Dragon's attacks?
  • Godmoding
-1 for the companions helping (“be prepared” and “he's got a bird”). It's not fair for them to be acting as Dragon's eyes. The only role a companion can have in a fight is a single attack.
  • Realism
-1 “He took a step to his left, hoping to keep them centered.” They aren't off center by much. With so little distance between fully centered and off centered the way Ashiel is I have a hard time believing Dragon can sense the difference without contact.
-1 “He sought to drive his right shoulder straight into the upper part of the taller male's throat...” They haven't made contact yet. How does he know where Ashiel's throat is?
-1 for general realism. Having fought with a blind wolf I know how hard it is to maintain realism and I don't think you struck a good balance in this post. Dragon knows things he shouldn't and is precise when he shouldn't be.
6/10 for Clarity:
  • Attacks
-1 “...though he wasn't entirely sure if he'd hit his mark. His gut told him he was aiming in the right spot, or at least somewhere in that region.” Is he aiming for Ashiel's throat or not? This is one of those things where you, the player, are at a disadvantage. You absolutely have to be precise so your clarity doesn't suffer. That's difficult to do with a blind char given how easy it is to powerplay, but it is possible!
-1 “Right foreleg sought to wrap around the left side of Ashiel's neck, and his left foreleg sought to wrap around the right.” Where on the sides of his neck? The top? Middle?
  • Positioning
-1 “Kimahri and Shiva slipped away, both in separate directions, aiming to put themselves on either side of the pair...” What is their new positioning? 'On either side of the pair' isn't quite precise enough.
  • Damage
-1 What happened to Ashiel's shoulder throw? If it missed completely that needs to be stated.
9/10 for Attacks:
  • +2 for shoulder throw
  • +1 for bear hug
  • +2 for chest slam
  • +3 for bite
    +1 for severity
5/5 for Defenses:

  • +1 for hackles raised
  • +1 for tail level with spine

ROUND TWO

ASHIEL:

WRITING

7/10 for Power Play:

  • Attempts
-1 “...launching him directly forward, underneath Dragon's body.” This should have been attempted.
  • Realism
-2 If Ashiel is trying to bite Dragon's penis off then his head (even if it's tucked close to his chest) will get in the way of his shoulder attacks. The way I see it, they can't make contact where intended unless Ashiel is nearly poking his head out from between Dragon's legs. The move also requires a bit more upward movement than I think is possible for wolf shoulders. I took a point for each shoulder throw since they are separate attacks.
10/10 for Clarity:
  • All clear!
8/10 for Attacks:
  • +3 for bite
    +1 for severity
  • +2 for shoulder throw (right)
  • +2 for shoulder throw (left)
5/5 for Defenses:
  • +1 for tucked tail
  • +1 for shoulders rolled forward
  • +1 for hackles raised
  • +1 for ears pinned
  • +1 for chin tucked
7/10 for Injuries:
  • -1 for moderate bruising to left shoulder

Ashiel’s round two total: 48/62

DRAGON:

WRITING

4/10 for Power Play:

  • Attempts
-1 “Dragon would land a foot behind Ashiel...” This should have been attempted. Instead of trying to establish distance it might have been better to simply spin around and reengage, and forget about distance altogether since there's so little of it.
  • Realism
-1 Because Dragon was only moving to stand up on his hind legs and slam his chest into Ashiel's chin in the last post there simply isn't enough momentum to carry him completely over Ashiel.
-1 How does he know where Ashiel's right ankle is?
-1 If he's slamming his left shoulder into Ashiel's testicles, how can his right shoulder strike the back of Ashiel's right knee? Unless Dragon's chest is extremely narrow this simply isn't possible and with their off center positioning it makes it even more unlikely.
-1 If Dragon is slamming his left shoulder into Ashiel's testicles then his chest is going to make it impossible for Dragon's bottom teeth to bite the inside of Ashiel's right thigh.
-1 same general deduction as the first round for pretty much the same reasons. This one was definitely better, though!
10/10 for Clarity:
  • All clear!
9/10 for Attacks:
  • +2 for right shoulder throw
    +0 for severity (unrealistic)
  • +1 for leg hook
  • +2 for left shoulder throw
  • +3 for bite
    +1 for grip
5/5 for Defenses:
  • +1 for pinned ears
  • +1 for tail tucked

ROUND THREE

ASHIEL:

WRITING

8/10 for Power Play:

  • Attempts
-1 “As he launched himself at Dragon...”
  • Godmoding
-1 “The alpha's right forepaw would also miss snagging Ashiel's right ankle for the same reasons and instead flail about between his forelegs.” The 'flail about' got you in trouble here. Even if you're emphasizing the uselessness of the gesture, it's not fair to say his paw did something that Dragon didn't say it did.
10/10 for Clarity:
  • All clear!
9/10 for Attacks:
  • +2 for chest slam
  • ++2 for shoulder throw
  • +1 for leg sweep

DRAGON:

WRITING

9/10 for Power Play:

  • Attempts
-1 “It was here that Kimahri would at last make an entrance, running towards the pair from Ashiel's right side...”
6/10 for Clarity:
  • Attacks
-1 “Left shoulder jutted forth, aiming to slam the point of it into Ashiel's rib cage as hard as he could.” Where exactly is he aiming?
-1 “Bottom canines sought to pierce the flesh where the windpipe was...” Where exactly on the windpipe? It runs from the base of the jaw to the top of the chest.
  • Positioning
-1 “He sought to align himself with the left side of Ashiel's abdomen where the rib cage ended.” What part of himself is he lining up with Ashiel's abdomen?
  • Damage
-1 “Dragon's left shoulder struck Ashiel square in the center of his chest, a moderate to severe bruise sure to blossom on his own shoulder.” Is it moderate or severe?
10/10 for Attacks:
  • +1 for paw swipe
  • +2 for chest slam
  • +1 for shoulder throw (left)
  • +1 for shoulder throw (right)
  • +3 for bite
  • +2 for companion bite
5/5 for Defenses:

ROUND FOUR

ASHIEL:

WRITING

8/10 for Power Play:

  • Attempts
-1 “Digging his hindpaws into the ground Ashiel's legs uncoiled as he launched himself toward Dragon.”
  • Godmoding
-1 “He heard Griff's call and knew the fight was about to get harder.” The only aid a companion can give in a fight is their one attack.
7/10 for Clarity:
  • Attacks
  • Positioning
-1 “...and bring them into parallel alignment but with Ashiel facing slightly in toward Dragon's left hind leg.” Where is Ashiel along Dragon's left side? Shoulder to shoulder? Shoulder to ribs?
  • Damage
-1 “However, the cat's vicious fangs still managed to connect with his upper forearm...” Which forearm?
-1 “...his left shoulder would just graze the upper left side of Ashiel's ribcage.” Did he take damage from this? Even if he didn't you need to state that or else your opponent might assume they can assign you damage.
10/10 for Attacks:
  • +2 for chest slam
  • +1 for shoulder throw
  • +3 for bite
    +1 for severity
  • +1 for paw swipe
  • +2 for companion attack
5/5 for Defenses:
  • +1 for tucked tail
  • +1 for raised hackles
  • +1 for pinned ears
  • +1 for neck level with spine
  • +1 for weight distributed evenely
7/10 for Injuries:
  • -1 for light lacerations to left side
  • -2 for moderate puncture wounds to forearm

Status

4/5 for Health:
  • -1 not a pack wolf

Ashiel’s round four total: 48/62

DRAGON:

WRITING

6/10 for Power Play:

  • Attempts
-1 “Dragon curled his upper body inwards towards his left and towards Ashiel...” This line was good up until 'towards Ashiel'
-1 “...and to bring his leg further into his mouth...”
  • Godmoding
-1 By deciding to move/crouch and duck without knowing what his opponent is doing or where the attacks are aimed Dragon gets a little too lucky this round.
-1 “Dragon's ears flicked slightly when he heard a warning cry from Shiva...” The only help companions can give in fights is their one attack.
5/10 for Clarity:
  • Attacks
-1 “His left shoulder lanced forward, the earthen male seeking to drive it directly into the left side of Ashiel's abdomen (stomach?) just behind his rib cage where the flesh was tender...” The place you are describing here is the flank, where Dragon is already striking with his chest.
  • Positioning
-1 “Simultaneously, his right shoulder would seek to dig into Ashiel's rib cage...” If they are left to left then Dragon's right shoulder should be somewhere around Ashiel's thigh/rump area.
  • Damage
-1 “Ashiel's chest would graze the upper portion of the left side of Dragon's thigh...” What damage, if any, did he take from this? Even if he didn't take any you need to state that clearly otherwise your opponent will be able to assign him damage.
-1 “Ashiel's fangs would cut into his left thigh a few inches from the top of his rump, leaving behind moderate lacerations.” That is lower, not higher, than where Ashiel was originally trying to bite.
-1 “He felt Griff's talons hit somewhere on the top of his head, ultimately lopping off part of his right ear  but the adrenaline and focus on the fight had kept him from feeling exactly what damage had been done...” This reads like Dragon might have taken more damage to his head than he knows. Even if Dragon doesn't know what damage he sustained you need to state it clearly anyway.
10/10 for Attacks:
  • +2 for chest slam
  • +2 for companion attack
  • +2 for shoulder throws
  • +3 for bite
  • +1 for leg hook
5/5 for Defenses:
  • +1 for tucked tail
  • +1 for pinned ears
  • +1 for raised hackles
  • +1 for shoulders rolled forward
  • +1 for widened stance
5/10 for Injuries:
  • -1 for moderate bruising to left flank
  • -2 for moderate lacerations to left thigh
  • -2 for partial ear amputation

Status

8/12 for Experience:
  • +4 advanced fighter
  • +4 advanced intellectual
5/5 for Health:
  • Pack wolf

Notes:

Tips for writing and some suggestions. (no points are deducted here):

For Lunar: A couple little things tripped you up in this fight. There were a couple instances where moves should have been attempted and I think that's really the only thing I noticed. As always your writing was very clear and precise. This was a good fight!

For Dragon: Talk about an uphill battle! Fighting with a blind wolf is super tricky and considering this was your first fight with him being blind you did well! My advice to you (and Dragon the character) would be to practice fighting closer to your opponent. When your character is blind it's harder for them to keep track of their opponent's movements when there's distance between them or when positioning is constantly changing. To remedy that without powerplaying keep your enemy close. If you're in constant contact with your opponent (chest to chest, bear hug, etc.) you don't have to guess as much about where good places to attack are. Damage is inevitable, but it's better to take it than to magic your way out of it because in the end the judge will chew you up for powerplaying. If you ever want to practice fighting with Dragon, let me know, I'd love a spar! Fighting with a blind character is something I'd like to learn a bit more about.

This match had gone on longer than anticipated, his strength was waning faster than he thought, and the energy he was putting in trying to stick close and the energy spent trying to concentrate and figure out where his opponent might be was draining him all too quick. Heart pounded hard in his chest, breathing getting short as he was running out of stamina to keep going much longer. As the blood trickled from his newly torn ear and ran down his face, and with the adrenaline wearing off because of his newfound exhaustion, Dragon decided it was time to admit his defeat. Ashiel was younger, bigger, and had nothing to hinder him. Though Dragon wasn't old, his blindness made it harder for him to fight. He was spending too much energy in trying to concentrate his other senses, not fully able to focus on his task any longer.

Breaking away from Ashiel, the pain from his torn ear throbbed along with the bites and bruises that were scattered across his body. His breathing was hard as he backed off, his stance somewhat submissive but the pride in him kept him from bowing to his opponent. He knew this was a losing battle, but the drive to try and protect what they had all built had fueled him, and now, he had to admit defeat. "I submit. I know when I'm fighting a losing battle, you win." He wasn't entirely pleased to say that, let alone admit that he lost. But at some point, he had to draw the line on his pride. Especially in a case like this where injuries could hinder him further. Taking a deep breath, he kept his gaze on Ashiel, ignoring all others around him. "You fought well, Ashiel Abraxas. Though I must ask, what do you plan to do now?" He was curious, the earthen male not allowing his loss to anger him or fester. Ashiel had won fair and square, and he would hold no hard feelings against him.

Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Ashiel's fangs cut into Dragon's left thigh, a few inches from his rump and he mentally cheered at scoring a good mark. His chest was heaving as he dug into his stamina. The fight continued, Ashiel could feel his blood flowing warm and sticky from his injuries and the bruises he'd sustained earlier in the match were beginning to throb. Ashiel steeled himself. He'd always had good stamina and now he intended to use it, there was nothing that was going to make him back down…

"I submit. I know when I'm fighting a losing battle, you win."

Well, except that.  Panting, Ashiel was slow to let down his defenses, half wondering if this was some sort of mortal trick but as Dragon went on it became clear that the fight was over.  A rush of emotion thrummed through Ashiel's chest, dulling the pain but making his stomach knot.  He'd done it… he was now an alpha!  Oh, to do his family and his mother proud! He couldn't help but grin, his fangs glinting in full moonlight. Griff flew down to land near his feet.

As Dragon asked him what he would do Ashiel reigned in the puppy-like joy that threatened to slip past his carefully stoic mask. He gathered himself, his head high, regal and elegant. "I should think that be quite obvious. I shall start my own pack and carry on my families legacy. I will do them proud or die trying.  However… if it is about your packmates' fate do not distress. I have no intention of forcing them to remain with me.  They are free to do as they please." He rolled his shoulders forward, savoring a light crack in his left shoulder where the limb had felt stiff. "Of course, I do wish to extend the invitation. Any members of Talis who wish to join the Abraxas empire are welcome to do so and in doing so they will become part of a larger vision, receiving the fallen god's favor and a chance at eternal paradise.  Should they follow our laws and behave respectfully they shall also have our protection and assistance in their mortal endeavors." His gaze lingered for a moment on Zinnia, Iskra and Valdís. "I leave it to them to decide. To my family, thank you for your support. Without you this would not have come to pass. I wish to claim the land of my birth, the Bent Canyon, as the start of my empire. With a stronghold in the east and west we will have a strong and stable foundation." He gazed about his family, unsure how they'd wish to divide themselves and if any would seek to leave the haven of the Risen Empire. "Any who wish to follow me may do so."

Valdís let her gaze fall to the ground as Dragon lost. It wasn't terribly unexpected and he'd clearly given it all he was worth but even with the help of his companions and his superior experience he was bested by the young Abraxas. Anger cooled to resignation. All her hard work climbing the ranks for nothing. Just like that she was starting from scratch as a loner. Even though Dragon intended to rebuild his pack with him remaining as leader she only feared that this would happen again. Though perhaps he would not tarry in appointing an heir? Either way it didn't really matter. She couldn't do this again. This was the third time a pack had fallen about her and she was getting tired. She shook her head.

"I'm sorry, Dragon. I won't be joining you. Ashiel, I will not be joining you either. I don't think a traditional pack is really where I want to be right now. I have some soul searching to do." She gazed at both males for a moment, surprised at the neutrality she felt toward them. Or was it numbness? Either way she found she held no anger or disappointment for them. This was just the way fate had decided to lay things out and she was tired of being fate's toy. She had to find her purpose and stop relying on chance. Turning she slipped away into the shadowy embrace of a moonlit night.
