the morning after

Reluctant to truly wake up yet, the ache in his muscles still enough to leave him nearly breathless, Midas hoped Fuji hadn't noticed him awake yet. Squeezing his eyes shut... he's no better at faking it than the average child. Right, well, at least he probably hadn't woken her if she was still asleep. Maybe. Hopefully. A smile twitched at the corners of his lips, curling closer to his um... well, they'd made some promises (threats?) last night. Promises (threats) he was well prepared to follow through on.

With her siblings on their way to independence and often leaving her to sleep alone, the feeling of a body shifting under her had a familiarity to it that made her heart sing. Keeping her eyes tightly closed and grumbling wordlessly in a way that seemed to say just five more minutes without saying anything at all. Her front paws reached out stretching, her dexterous digits tangling in dark fur as she stretched and relaxed, snuggling closer to the warm body closest to her. Whoever it was smelled really good, and she pushed her face deeper into the dark coat, her sleep addled mind caught somewhere between dream and waking. She'd probably be really embarrassed if she could see herself right now, but the places her dreams were taking her weren't ones she was quite ready to wake up from yet.

Not ready to wake up yet, though his eyes flicker open slowly. Midas blinked the sleep away, becoming acutely aware just how sore his entire body happened to be. Anywhere that wasn't compressed by world's best weighted blanket felt like it was ablaze. The traveling, the running, the seizure, all of it... yeah. It would probably be a while before he was quite right again. As he subtly stretched a leg, the man couldn't bite back a whimper. Shit. No. Eyes squeezed shut again. He hadn't woken Fuji, had he? No, he was pretending to be asleep again. Shhhhh.
