Don't Fall Off

Location: Crystallium Cliffs
As they walked their stroll along the thicket, the sudden loss of land ahead of them wasn't hard to miss. Cerberus pushed aside some of the brush of the thicket to make some room for Ruse as the sound of the crashing ocean in a close distance was flowing through his ears. He waited for her after he stepped outside of the brush and then joined at her side as they moved forward to the cliffs. The ocean came to view rather quickly, but if they had been running along not paying attention they may have fallen over the edge. He still took careful steps forward as he peered over the edge and down at the dangerous waters below. His mind was easily set on his sister too to make sure she wouldn't lose her footing. He knew she could be pretty clumsy sometimes.

After working their way through the thicket, they were greeted by the sound of the ocean waves and as the branches and brambles opened up into empty space she quickly saw why. They were meandering slow enough that the steep and sudden cliff didn't seem all that sudden, but if she had been in a hurry or maybe chasing a prey animal or something of that sort she could see how this spot would be dangerous. She stepped closer to the edge of the cliff, being careful to still leave a bit of a gap between herself and the free edge just to avoid any possible crumbling that could put herself in danger. She breathed a soft, awed, "Wow..." as she peered down over the edge, admiring the way that the impossibly tall cliff face was reflected in the water and made itself look even taller than it was. "How far down do you think that is?" she asked, getting as close to the edge as she dared.

As the two of them looked down below, Cerb was still carefully keeping an eye on Ruse to make sure she'd be okay where she was. She asked how long he thought the drop was, and he crooked his head a little in a quick thought, "I'm not sure, but a long while." Like the fall would last forever probably. His eyes scanned left to right as he observed the cliffs from the perch here. There was no way down. "There's ice on the bottom too. I wonder if that's seasonal." He noted, seeing the thick bits that almost looked like stone floating and crashing against the stone wall of the cliffs. "There's no way up either, you'd probably have to swim to shore somewhere if you fell in." Well, someone. Not Ruse. He didn't want to think of his sister fighting for her life down at the bottom.

She hadn't really expected Cerberus to have an exact measurement of the distance down to the water at the bottom of the cliff so saying that it would take a long while to fall that far felt as good of an answer as any. He pointed out the ice at the bottom with the musing about it possibly being seasonal. She hummed with thought, her head tipping to the side a bit. "It might be, but it's almost spring and the ice still looks pretty thick so we might be far enough north for it to just stay year round," she countered, mostly just for arguments sake. The only way they'd really know is to come back to this place during other seasons to check. He pointed out how there didn't seem to be a way up from the bottom and she had to lean a tad father toward the edge to take a look for herself. The cliff was incredibly steep and she could only assume he was right about his assessment. "Lets just agree to never get too close to the edge so we never have to find out," she replied with a chuckle, stepping back a bit now that she was satisfied that she had gotten a good look at everything down below.

Cerb did a single little "humph" through a laugh as Ruse had said it was probably better they not test the waters and find out. Test the waters. "I doubt I'd ever find it in myself to swim over here either." He responded humorously, especially if the ice of the ocean water was still present below. It looked like quite deadly waters regardless of what kind of ledge could be beneath them if any.
They both started to back up off the cliff, leaving the stone edges and back into the safer, grassy areas. Cerb would start walking more southern of them now. He assumed this may have been a nice place to hang out at night if anything. Perhaps see the sun rise from the east. It was probably a beautiful experience. Otherwise the land here wouldn't serve much purpose to them as a pack. Just a cute little outing. He made some mental notes to return back to Scylla with as they ventured towards the plains that were east of Obscura.

With their observations about the steep, potentially dangerous cliff done, they both began to turn back and she followed Cerberus' lead away from this spot and onto the next. This was somewhere that she could definitely see herself coming back to watch the sunset over the ocean, but she wasn't sure it had too much practical use. She knew that territories that a pack claimed had to be practical and useful, but more often than not a pretty, visually pleasing spot was more often her favorite than any practical land. That was one of the reason she had loved their first island home so much. It had been beautiful and tropical, but also had so many structures and places to make into nice shelters that it was also incredibly practical. She continued to think about nature and the landscape around them as they kept their winding trip through the east going.
