Identification found herself within the rio grande, ears twisting and turning upon that of her cranium. Her steps were carefully taken, emerald eyes scanning the area around her. The sound of waters rushing also caught her attention. Leaves scattered the ground. A skilled hunter or huntress known that the sounds of the leaves could give their location away to anything they may be tracking to hunt.
The woman needed food, she needed to eat. She known the dangers also of some predators that also lurked within the shadows. Today was cooler and Identification enjoyed the coolness of the day honestly, it beat the heat of the summer that just escaped. The waters were still lowered from the droughts.
The sound of geese flying over head caught her attention, they would be too hard to catch for only herself, unless the woman crafted something. Anything. But geese - no, not today. She wanted something a little more filling. Something that she could smoke to allow the meat to last a little longer. Her creamy coat blending her within the grasses that grew wildly. Were browning with the changing of the season also. So the woman seemed to blend in almost perfectly.
Fic had spotted the wild hog then and there, her stomach churning and turning as her mouth began to salivate even more. It would be enough to smoke some of the pig and enough too eat. It was a medium sized hog, but still the promise of a feast was right in front of her as she was down wind. Her right paw lifted slowly and carefully only to place back down drawing her closer. But the woman stepped in the wrong spot. Making her grow dead still and silent. Only movements would be her eyes darting to spot the hog.
It was much harder, and dangers were present. Fic wasn't too old to be so quick to judge, but she had to time her movements quickly and carefully. Allowing that of herself to move slowly, stalking and watching..

It was not often that Sonnet braved leaving Avalon territory. In fact, it was a strict rule that she should not leave the territory, nor her mother's sight. Alas, with so many pups to look after, and Sonnet being the smallest of the bunch, she easily slipped out unseen. The itch to hunt, to try to hunt crawled up her legs, down her spine, and clouded her judgment. Slinking between the trees of the Orchard toward the outskirts of the field. Her bright orange eyes laid upon a rabbit that had clearly been teasing her. There was no doubt in Sonnet as she stared at those beady eyes before the long-eared, big-footed animal had taken off through the fallen leaves and toward the river.
Before she even noticed what she'd done, her paws were sliding through slick mud and leaf litter. Speckles of the wet dirt splashed up onto her face as she watched the rabbit dash through a slow, shallow piece of the Rio Grande. As much as she wanted to give chase, she knew better than to follow across the river. That, at least, was one rule Sonnet would permanently abide to. Getting swept away by an undercurrent was not on her to-do list today.
With a defeated sigh, she turns to head back home and quickly before her mothers notice her lack of appearance near the den. Paws crinkle loudly over the leaves that coat the ground around the river's territory. Tall, dried grasses rustle as she moves through it. Now that she wasn't hunting, she had not a care to conceal herself. Until a musky, herbal scent of pig caught her attention. Freezing in her tracks, she peers over the tips of the grass that tickle her little nose. Fighting back a sneeze, she keeps her attention trained on the hog. Would she dare to be so adventurous? A hog, larger than herself currently, was clearly more complicated than a rabbit, but she could try, couldn't she?
Lowering back into the grass to conceal her tawny and chocolate colored body, she steps forward. Her paws make a loud crackle against the dried leaves. Hissing in disappointment as the hog trots away quickly, she frowns and catches sight of the older woman who also has eyes on the hog. Oh, maybe she would help! As quietly as she could, walking more along the muddier paths, Sonnet approaches the blond woman with green eyes. "Hello, can I help hunt the pig?" Her whisper is a tad louder than she anticipated, but it was the best she could do as a pup. She didn't have to be afraid of the girl getting mad, right?

The afternoon was pleasant, it wasn't hot nor was it cold. It was honestly just right. Her own paws and underbelly dirtied due to tracking the wild hog when it moved she also moved. The sound of the crack catching her attention, a smile crosses Identifications lips. As soon a frame appears near her, a little girl. A pup none the less. She smiled though, although deep down she was now worried about the youngster getting hurt. But the hog didn't seem to worried at all - but they however were dangerous and now Identification was the bigger threat to the hog and not the child.
"Of course you can, as long as you don't get injured. I doubt your parents would approve of that." Identification was always worried of another getting hurt. And being that of a pup had Identification wanting to protect the child even more. But maybe, just maybe if the young girl was swift upon her paws - they would succeed and she'd bring home some meat for those that cared for her, that is after Fic took care of the hog.
She turned to the girl and then towards the hog who absently minded continued to circle around. "We can smoke some of the meat and have you take some back, if you would like. I hope that your parents know where you are." Offering a knowing smile. It could also be a lesson for the girl.
"Normally a hog has large tusks, well most of them anyway. This guy who seems to have no mind appears to be this seasons. Not even a year yet. So we may be lucky. But we have to watch out for others." Identification smiled with a dip of her cranium, her paws setting into motion as her voice lowered to the girl of chocolate and fawn pigments. Emerald eyes flashing their own smile then focusing onto the hog once again.
She lowered close to the ground, her eyes focused upon the hog before them. Not even ten yards away. She'd wait for the right moment to strike, the moment that she could give way for the pup as well. Identification would injure the pig and allow the other to bring it to it's end. "Normally hogs are very territorial and can get very nasty at times." Her voice like a whisper. "But, if I injure the hog you could sweep in and go for the kill. Do you know the spots it's weakest?"
Questioning, to just make sure that the other female understood the weak points the hog had, but also to help teach the girl. Sure, hunting was part of every day life and was instilled in someones brain and mind since birth. But there were lessons to be learned with each fight or hunt.

Sonnet smiles, her tail wagging as the woman approves of her tagging along. "Oh, I promise I won't get hurt!" She beams brightly, holding back that playful puppy yip she so badly wants to let out. The girl knows that she has to be quiet, but it's hard to be serious sometimes. She'll grow out of it someday, but for now, she needs practice. And practicing with this stranger is the perfect time to do it!
Flicking her gaze on the hog that roots around in the dirt and mud, she inhales deeply to steady herself. Turning more serious, she meets Fic's green gaze, body still and tense as she listens. "Yes, they know," she answers hesitantly. It's an outright lie, but maybe some delicious smoked meat will smooth over their fury when she faces them later. A lesson would be good for her and this lady seemed nice.
Focusing back on Fic, tamping down her nerves that threatened to burst from her, she nods as Fic speaks. Watch out for others, got it. Sonnet nods again, her gaze sweeping the clearing to check the nooks and crannies for other hogs. They appeared absent for the time being, but that didn't mean they couldn't come moments later to help out their friend.
Following Fic's movements, Sonnet lowers toward the ground. Her paws creep forward, careful not to crunch the crinkly, dry leaves beneath her. It would surely give their position away if she did such a thing! Pausing briefly, she leans in closer to listen to Fic's instructions and details. Thinking a moment, she looks back to the hog, assessing its body. While the hog looked thick and formidable, she remembered a hunting lesson from just the other week. "Right behind its head on its spine," she replies in a whisper. "I can definitely finish it if you injure it!" Sonnet says enthusiastically, forcing her tail to tuck between her legs so that it doesn't start wagging loudly in the brush.

However the way the pup spoke with some hesitant made Identification worry a bit more. But she would discuss that with the pup after the hunt. But if the pup was honest with her Identification wouldn't allow that to become a problem. She offered the girl a smile. Planning how to get the pup home after words also. Oh, how she hoped that when the time came for her to become a mother the pups would be honest at all times.
She chuckled almost silently at the thought. As she turned to the pup offering a knowing nod. Identification moved slowly, careful to make no sound and pausing when she did. Ears perk suddenly as the hog perked up for a moment before going back to digging up roots and not noticing the danger lurks close by.
The woman was swift with her movement, her paws carrying her over the territory, and grabbing hold of one of the back legs, to slow the hog down. Her teeth punching threw its thick hide, biting down harder she'd release after the sound of bone crunched between her jaws.
Identification looked to where the younger female was, making sure the hogs attention was upon Fic, giving the pup room to clearly launch her attack. Identification stayed in front of the hog just incase the hog would want to swing around and attack the young girl. Fic could easily snap her jaws closed around its nose.
