Suriel's puppy coat still wasn't quite thick enough to shield her from the season's first frost. No matter how much she fluffed out her fur the breeze still needled its way through and almost made her shiver. Almost, because she was too strong for a silly little thing like a chill to bother her. In fact, she turned her face into the breeze just to prove how unbothered she was and considered sticking her tongue out too, just to be thorough about things. The sun had risen not long ago, and it looked like another day when the older wolves would be busy running around doing important old person things, whatever that meant. She could tell something was going on but whenever she got close enough to listen they would start talking about stuff that didn't really matter at all, like the weather or the color of the leaves changing. Oh well, more time to explore and investigate! Mama said soon it would get so cold all the grass and leaves and fruits would turn brown. Suriel had a hard time imagining that, but her Mama wouldn't lie about anything so it must be true. She also knew that some plants were important, and even if she didn't know which ones exactly she'd bet she could find some cool looking ones that the healers would definitely want to save. And if they were too busy being old and busy, she'd just have to do it for them! "Talk" "Listen" Think

The chill that had begun to creep into the lands wasn't something Astaroth was quite accustomed to yet. These lands had been quite temperate since she'd been born, and the hints of winter's imminent arrival were not lost on her. A shiver wracked her body as she wandered, without any real goal in mind today. That was the real joy of being a kid- not much was expected of them in their downtime, even if Mother in particular was quite stringent about them doing what they were told, when they were told. The rest of their time was a little more flexible.

Tail flicking from side to side as she went, Asta paused briefly to sniff at a cluster of frost that laced the grass. Already the morning sun, slowly ascending over the horizon, was beginning to work on melting it away. Her attention quickly shifted, pale ears flicking forward when she heard movement up ahead. Catching sight of her pale sister up ahead, she quickly loped forward, falling into a brisk walk as she sought to fall in alongside her.

"Siiiiister," she greeted her, her voice slightly sing-song as she finally reached her. "Whatcha doing?" Family came first, and genuine interest nearly oozed out of every pore as she focused on Suriel, head cocking to the side. Whatever it was, she was intent on joining.

A familiar voice rang out through the morning air, and Suri perked with excitement. Yes, rummaging on her own was good and all but it would be better with a friend! She bounded forward the few steps to meet her sister with her own exuberant greeting, falling into a play-bow with her tail quivering upright behind her. "Hiya Asta!" She pounced forward, making a teasing swat towards her sister's toes before leaping back again. "I was gonna try to explore while all the old folks are so busy. Maybe look for some neat plants or something! Wanna come with?" Maybe her sister had other super important stuff on the agenda today, but Suriel really hoped she would say yes. Four eyes were better than two, after all! Speaking of, she perked up and looked around. There could be cool stuff anywhere, maybe even here! Suri wouldn't be surprised to find out she was so good at this she'd succeeded without even knowing, before she even tried... Wouldn't that be something? All the grasses looked the same, and most of the leaves were already turning kinda brown. But she bet if she took just a few more steps she'd definitely find something, like... right over there! "Oooh, what's that? You see it?" It was funky for sure, growing out of... hm, an old buffalo chip. Was that a mushroom? One way to find out, and by that she meant to stick her nose right up in there and hope for the best. "Talk" "Listen" Think

The excitement was echoed back at her, Asta's face lighting up at her sister acknowledging her. Instinctively she met her energy, tail twitching excitedly as she moved forward to bump her nose against her shoulder. "Yeah, let's do it," the girl agreed a little too eagerly, barely registering what Suri was saying as she batted at her snout as she pulled back. Getting up to anything with her sister sounded like a good idea, no matter what it ended up being. Asta was sold on the idea.

Immediately she padded after Suriel as she started poking around, her childlike wonder taking over. She saw something, but what was it? Sniffing hard at the cool air, she plodded forward and thrust her nose forward. She was sent reeling backwards, nose wrinkling and brow furrowing tightly. "Oh, ew Suriel, that smells gross," she said, frowning. Still, she didn't move completely away, instead choosing to just not breathe the stinky air as best as she could as she tried to get a better look at the mushroom. "You think it's poisonous or something?"

Astaroth's exuberance was the cherry on top of an already pretty good set up for the morning. Sharing her adventures with her siblings always made them better, and even if maybe plants weren't turning out to be Asta's thing quite like they were for her, it warmed Suri's little heart that her sister was still so on board with coming along. Right up until she was cajoled into sniffing a weird fungus growing out of an old dung patty, anyhow. Suriel barked out a laugh right up until the smell wafted at her too, and much like Asta had she reeled back as well. Alright, yuck, but that was still funny though. "You think it's poisonous or something?" Hm. What a good question that was. She'd never eaten a mushroom, but she knew there were loads of different kinds. "No idea! I'm gonna poke it with a stick." Spinning on her hind paws Suriel was quick to fetch a jabby apparatus, and equally quick to return. It was all fun an games until jabbing the fungus rattled loose some spores, the dusty smoke-like particles wafting up into the air and drifting towards them on the breeze. "Ack!" Suriel dropped the stick from her jaws and backpedaled. "Gross, it's shooting stink powder at us! Run away!!" She whirled and began to take off, not so much concerned as wondering if she could rile Asta up and maybe even provoke her into a race.
