Davey liked to explore, and he liked to mess with his brother even more. Losing Tide around the fringes of Gambit Briar was pretty much a given, able to hide away from the boy and weave through the bramble pit with more confidence. Long limbs would do that to ya.
But it's not Tide's footsteps he hears, crashing through the undergrowth as he finds a clearing. Nope, that's certainly more than one set, bold as the day is long. Before Davey knows exactly how to process it, the coyotes melt from the shadows and surround him.
Fuck it, we ball. Davey lunges for the first of... well, the first of at least three. No telling exactly how many there were, but he'd need to at least drive them off before figuring out exactly where Tide had gone. Bringing his axe down on the first coyote, listening to it yelp and scramble, he's pretty sure he's got it under control.

(This post was last modified: 11-11-2024, 03:07 PM by Nova. Edited 1 time in total.)
Nova walked around the southern regions of boreas, after being her whole life in Auster she wanted to explore Boreas. Lands yet to be explored for the large female, and here she was. Away from all she had known, with only her own shadow and her cat companion to follow her every step. Her large frame navigating through the thorns and patches of plants, being careful with the thorns which seemed sharp enough to cause slashes. Then the smell of flesh blood caught her attention and quietly she followed the scent finding a pup being harrassed by coyotes, one already down. She should mind her own business but only a jerk would not help a pup, even of they were from an enemy pack(she has yet to find out). Quickly as she wore her santa coat, rushed to help the pup out.

Was he being harassed, or doing the harassing? Davey is really already enjoying himself, grip tight on his flail. Learning how to wield it the most effectively... even if it's not the most efficient. Frankly, the boy is wild. Unhinged, at best. At worst? Maybe a little disorganized. Maybe a lot disorganized. The yelp and yap of the coyotes hasn't subsided, not yet.
He's not alone for long. Someone else had arrived, and Davey needed to be a little more careful with that axe. Still swinging, he rounds on the coyote that's attempting to flank him. Catching sight of the large girl in his periphery, though he doesn't allow his attention to drift. One coyote down, and the next in his sights, he charges it. Let him get some practice in close quarters with it, yeah?

Nova was now fully into the task at hand, all she wanted now was making these lesser canids regret attacking this pup who was finely standing his ground. Yet she wanted to at least offer her support, she knew it was not right to leave a pup on its own against a pack of coyotes who even for some adults were hard to dispatch. Quickly she grabs one of the coyotes and her jaws snapped around it's scruff and trashing around she wounded the creature severely until it ran away. But she wasn't done yet. Two more coyotes ran to her and she lounged at them to fight them off.

Davey's grip on his axe slips, the blade wedging in the skull of the last coyote trying to fuck his day up. That's alright, he'd retrieve it later. Panting from the effort, muscles straining, the boy is pushing himself well and truly now. This is the home stretch, as he wraps his teeth around the rear of a coyote staring down his temporary companion.
Snap. Crunch. Reaching out with his claws to get a better grip, Davey climbs over the beast. Taking it down slowly-- figuring out just how dulled his capabilities were, now that he's lost control of his weapon. A valuable lesson for the boy, though he'd still come out victorious.

Bloodied became the scene as Nova had dispached a few of the coyotes and sending the rest running back to where they came from. She didn't enjoy bloodshed but when she was forced to do it she wasnt afraid to tear throw flesh and bone. Besides, she was doing this in defense of the pup, who semeed to be the bold kind. By going out and alone, but well she was no mother to judge. Yet it was still a dangerous move from the pup.
Once they ran away she turned at the boy. "Close call." She said with her cold voice. "I am Nova, whats your name?" She perhaps should not be sharing her name around but since when was she scared? Never.

Oh, she's trying to talk to him. Davey is already starting to wipe the gore from his axe on the grass, making sure it's clean and well cared for before returning it to its resting state. Winding the spring back up took some effort, so there's no use in dawdling. Adrenaline still thick in his system, Davey tries not to narrow his eyes too much as he focuses back on the girl.
"'s fine, coyotes are bitches." Shrugging, like it's no big deal. To Davey, at least, it's not. Nova, then, she offers her name. Davey is a little light in the manners department, and she smells like enemies. "Scald." It's an easy enough lie, taking his brother's name in place of his own. Unapologetic and a dickhead, sorry about him.

Bitches he said.
Strong word for a mere pup, yet she didn't linger further into the matter. It was none of her business nor she cared. Each with their own. Her santa coat was now soaked in red and she knew she needed to wash it before going home. A nasty task but needed, at least it wasn't wolr blood which would had been even worse.
"Scald." She repeated, a name fit for someone who liked the ocean. Or so she assumed, but well naming wasn't her thing. "I bet you live near?" She asked as she removed her coat, pups didn't go too far right? Then she went to a creek she started to wash the blood off it. She wasn't going to wear this all the way home smelling of rotten blood.
