Shuriken had written off her father all of those years ago when he had abandoned his family. She allowed her mother to invite him to her wedding that had never happened. He had accepted, but she still hadn’t seen him. She drew her support from her husband Remus, despite not having a big event she still considered him her husband. They had pledged their lives to each other and that was what mattered. Ike had worked hard to forgive herself for what happened to Ashen, though the fact still bothered her. She should have stepped up to save their family’s title, yet she could not.

So the once dragon princess made her way to her sire’s door. He knew a thing or two about failing his family so surely he would accept her now. Mismatched paws brought her to a land of bamboo, one that even if she did not know this was where Tojo lie would tell her that she had found her father. She looked to Remus for support before lifting her head and calling for the one she had once called dad.

When Ike had first told him of her decision to seek out her father's pack he had only questioned her once to make sure she was certain. He had no qualms with following her wherever she decided to take them next now that she was back on her feet, but she had told him of the fall out that had happened with her sire and the resulting dismantling of her family back when he was still getting to know her and her life. He wanted to make sure she was confident in this choice and that she was ready to live side by side with her father again, but when she assured him that she was he set out with her to go to Auster without further questioning. His own family was scattered to the wind and perhaps lost to him for the rest of his life so if he could assist her in mending what was left of her own and give them a new home in turn then it was worth giving it a chance.

The trip to southern Auster was an uneventful one and soon enough they were at the fringes of a pack where a forest of bamboo stretched out ahead of them. He had no context to know when they arrived, but he trusted Ike's knowledge of her father's pack and to be able to recognize the man's scent so when she stopped and looked to him he gave her a reassuring smile with a nod. She called for her sire and Remus kept his place at Ike's side, shifting a bit closer with an instinctual protectiveness. He knew logically that there was no real danger here and that Ike was more than capable, but being in a new place and having so recently seen Ike in such a fragile emotional state he couldn't help but be protective of his wife in a moment like this. He kept his ruby and emerald gaze on the bamboo ahead of them, watching for any movement that could signal another's approach.

It had been years since he'd last seen his eldest children and given how things had ended with their Mother... Well, out of sheer stubbornness and pride Hattori could not say he regretted it, and yet hindsight offered a lot of food for thought. Much had changed and so had he, but was it for the better? Some days he wasn't quite so sure, could do nothing but press forward.

He saw her dappled colouring through the gaps in the bamboo and found himself pausing for a moment, brows furrowing, only to realise she wasn't alone. That she'd brought company, someone he did not recognise at a glance. Their scents intertwined with one another, making it hard to tell where his scent began and hers ended. The old man was quick to make assumptions as he approached, finally coming to stand before the pair, his gaze flitting between the two. He of course had no right to be a shotgun father, but he found himself scrutinising the Armada man, taking in the grey tone notes of his coat and the twist of his horns.

Silence lingered for a moment, before his attention flitted back to his daughter and he finally spoke.

"Kiyohime, you look well. Who is this?"

She looked to Remus for courage before she called out for her estranged father. How many years had passed since he had ripped their family apart? How much longer had it been since she had seen him? How many times had she wondered if he thought about her, or cared for her still? Truly, the past did not matter anymore, the reason she was so anxious was because of her fear of the future. All that mattered was the present moment, and she needed to do better at living there instead of places she could not be.

Remus leaned into her as they waited the few moments it took for Hattori to arrive and greet them. She held her breath as the shogun looked from his daughter to near stranger, just as suspicious as he always had been. She finally took in a breath as he welcomed her by name, commenting on how she looked. Despite being loners they did take good care of themselves.

"As do you,” She returned with a small nod of her head as attention shifted to Remus. She couldn’t help the grin that flashed over her whiskered visage, "This is my husband, Remus Armada.” She answered affectionately.

Several more quiet moments passed before a shift in the bamboo revealed the dark coated man that was covered in orange-hued splatters that mimicked the dappled markings that covered his wife's coat. Though Hanzo was an imposing figure to be sure, they matched one another in height and build and Remus was able to look him in the eye as his father in law openly scrutinized him. Remus didn't flinch under the other man's gaze and just let him make whatever assessments or judgements he wished to make. He imagined that if he and Ike were ever blessed enough to have their own children he would look at their partners just as closely until he was sure of them so he took no offense to it.

Finally the Tojo-Kai leader addressed his daughter–though it did throw Remus a bit to hear her referred to by her full name. He had called her Ike for so long he sometimes forgot that wasn't her name. It seemed like such a formal way to speak to his daughter, but from what he had heard about the man and their history he wasn't all that surprised. When Ike looked to him he looked down to her as well, meeting her grin with one of his own. Returning his attention to Hanzo, Remus tipped his head in a polite bow as he was introduced. "It's good to finally meet you, sir." He hadn't been sure that he'd ever meet the man, but life had taken them a very different direction than he had originally expected in many ways.
