a birthday pheasant

Tazzy was minding his own business, basking in the warm sun of the summer afternoon with a content smile on his face. He met a cute boy the other day and even went on an adventure with him! Sure, he was pretty quiet and seemed kinda sad, but he could fix that! Maybe he'd like a gift? He was certain if he took some pretty things to Widow, she would make him something to give to the taller boy to cheer him up! Besides, he could use some color!

He hopped up to his paws rather quickly and started to wander around the plains in search of anything interesting. Feathers were on his mind mostly, but every one he found was damaged! That wouldn't do! It would be best to collect them from a live bird, but he was too nervous to hunt anything even something as harmless as a bird. Maybe he could scare a few feathers out of them?

The least he could do was try. But first, he had to find some pretty looking birds! Not those rotten vultures, but something pretty! Like pheasants! He'd seen a lot around lately, so if he was lucky he'd be able to get quite a few feathers!
