The sun was about to rise, and the nocturnal child was not ready for bed quite yet. So he skulked about in the pre-dawn light in search of some last minute entertainment to keep him from retreating to the safety of the den. Tall ears pricked for the sounds of scurrying rodents, the trickle of water that might lead to a mud puddle, or perhaps the soft flutter of wings. The latter was less likely, but nonetheless he sought it.

Ebon dipped tail swayed against his heels, a sign of his barely contained excitement that thrummed under his skin while he searched high and low for something to harass. Or someone. He wasn't picky.
