For once she actually didn't have one of her siblings tumbling over her or pestering her about something and for a second she just found a spot outside her family's den to flop over on her back and she watched the clouds go by. It was weirdly quiet and even though the clouds were really pretty and she was enjoying trying to figure out what they looked like, that got boring really quick. She huffed a sigh and rolled back to her paws, giving herself a quick little shake–which almost knocked her off of her too-big-for-her-body feet. There had to be something around here that was entertaining! She trotted back toward their den, peeking inside just to make sure no-one had come home in the hours (which was really more like ten minutes) she had been watching the clouds. Seeing that it was just as empty as it had been, she made another disgruntled sigh and pouted, coming back out into the clearing and looking around a bit. Where did everyone go anyway?!

"Hello?!" she called out, her voice echoing back to her a bit with all the sheer rock and mountains around her. "Does anyone wanna play or spar or... something?!" Hopefully someone was close enough to hear her and give her something to do! Otherwise she'd have to go looking for something to do and she was just bound to get in trouble with her mom if she did that, she just knew it. She plopped down onto her haunches to wait, keeping her silver eyes peeled for any kind of movement or sign of anything interesting and exciting around.

The relative quiet of the day was not something Kiela was bothered by. The wolves of Heiðinn tended to be a fiercely independent group, which was something the Jarvela had grown to appreciate. While some were quite different than her in that they were driven by the need to incite chaos every now and again, she didn't really feel that need. Instead, the woman was content to bask in the quiet, only really hearing the sound of her own pawsteps as she moved over the uneven terrain. The arrival of summer in northern Boreas was proving to be a refreshing change, and a sign of good things to come for the herd and Heiðinn alike.

The sound of someone calling out was faint, but audible, and caught Kiela's attention. Though it didn't sound distressed, her impression was that it was one of the youngest members of Heiðinn. Curious, she redirected herself toward the sound, catching sight of the girl once she rounded a sharp turn. The girl was unmistakable as one of Víðarr and Tenshi's, the relation even more obvious as she drew closer and spotted the antler nubs on the top of her head. This litter had been blessed, just as she'd expected it would be.

"Terve," She greeted the child warmly. Though motherhood wasn't something she'd considered seriously for herself, given her solitary, nomadic lifestyle up until this point, she was finding she quite liked having children around. Part of her hoped one of them might have a penchant toward her reindeer; the antlers they sported gave her enough hope they maybe they just might.

"That's how you'd say hello in my native tongue." If the child showed interest she'd happily lean into it, and if not she wouldn't be bothered. Children were children, after all. "I'm Kiela Jarvela, good friend to your father. And your name is..?" Talking to children wasn't something she had much experience with, but she remembered how her own family had been toward her - she'd been treated like an equal from an early age, never babied. She had no doubt this girl's and her siblings would have a similar upbringing. "I'd be happy to play a game with you, or take you somewhere, or we could spar, or..." She trailed off. What did children even like to do? Again she found herself reflecting on her own childhood, on playing games of tag amongst the pine forests, of skating across fields of frozen ice. All fond memories, and ones she was especially interested in helping foster with the youngest litter here.

Rúna sat around for a bit, hopeful that her shouting would bring someone around, and eventually it did! A tall woman that was a couple different shades of gray with some red-ish color mixed in walked over to her and she hopped up excitedly to greet her. Not only did she manage to summon someone to entertain her, but it was a new someone! Obviously she had to be a part of her dad's pack to be here so she had to be a friend of some sort, but there were still so many faces she hadn't seen yet. She grinned and was about to say something to her new friend, but before she could the stranger said a word she had never heard before and it made her blink with a bit of confusion and curiosity, her head tipping comically to the side. "Tar-ve," she repeated, though that didn't sound quite right.

Once she got the explanation that "terve" was how she said hello, Rúna's face lit up with understanding and she grinned again, her tail wagging fast behind her. "Oooooh! Ter-ve to you too then!" she replied, proud of herself for making it sound at least a little closer to how she said it that time. She peered up at the curious new woman while she introduced herself and asked for her name. "Hi, Kiela! I'm Rúna Trygg," she replied, matching the full name introduction she was given. As she had kind of assumed, Kiela was a friend of her father, but now she could be a friend of hers too! The list of activities she named off all sounded really, really fun so it was reeeeally hard to choose. She hummed with thought, scrutinizing Kiela with a little squint as she tried to decide what would be the most fun. "Could you take me somewhere reeeeally cool?" she questioned after a moment. "Like... Somewhere I can brag to my siblings that I've been later!"

The fact that she'd found herself in a pack so intrinsically tied to the sacred reindeer was something most might consider a coincidence. Kiela didn't believe in coincidences though. Instead she believed everything - every wolf, every encounter, all of it - was tightly wound together. She was exactly where she was meant to be, here in Heiðinn. Everything, and everyone, only deepened those beliefs she held dear.

The girl before her seemed pleased with her approach, repeating the word terve back to her a few times. It sounded much closer after a few tries, earning a rare toothy grin from Kiela. "Glad to meet you, Rúna Trygg," she responded to her introduction gladly. Kiela studied the child curiously as she considered her offer, finally settling on going somewhere cool. That was certainly something she could do. She was too young to be taken outside of the pack borders yet without permission though, so she thought it best to stay within Heiðinn's borders. Even here in the mountains there was plenty to see.

"As you wish. Come along then," she'd instruct her, wasting little time in beginning to move. Standing around idly talking wasn't something she was used to. The nomadic lifestyle was deeply instilled in her, and she rarely liked being idle. There were plenty of interesting spots in the mountains they could explore, but the question was whether or not Rúna would be as awed by them as she might hope. "It's a good time for us to go exploring. Sometimes these mountains are far more dangerous, covered in ice," she explained as they went, letting silence linger over them for a moment before speaking. Rúna was young enough that she had not experienced the most brutal weather the north could offer, though once autumn rolled around she knew that would begin to change.

She had expected some kind of list of options of where to go or even some kind of push back about how they couldn't go too far or she'd get in trouble, but instead Kiela immediately agreed and told her to come along. Rúna blinked with surprise, but then gave her new friend a huge grin in response. "Okay!" she exclaimed, hopping quickly to her paws and hurrying with slightly clumsy steps to catch up with her. She had been around a little bit with her parents, but usually if they had to go far her mother would carry them so this was one of the only times she was really walking around the mountains like this so she was very excited to go all of the places! .... wherever the "places" were!

As Kiela explained how now was a good time to explore because of the ice that could happen here sometimes, Rúna looked up at her with a soft "ooooh" of acknowledgment before her silver gaze turned back toward the landscape around them. She knew what snow and ice were in theory, but trying to picture everything covered in ice was kinda hard. "Is everything slippery then? When there's ice on everything? How do you not... like... slip slide around all the time? Do you fall over a lot in the winter?" she questioned in a long string of questions, hardly pausing between them as only a puppy could do. In her mind "covered in ice" meant every single inch of the mountains would basically become ice and her momma had told her how cold and slippery it could be so how could they live in the mountains when it was like that?!

Heiðinn had been blessed with these children, and being able to spend time with them felt equally as blessed to her. It'd been a long, long while since she'd spent time around children and she was pleased she'd be able to again, this time much older and wiser. Though she wasn't normally a very expressive wolf, it was hard to contain the grin that kept pulling at the corners of her lips, encouraged by Rúna's unbridled joy.

"It can be," she answered carefully. Kiela was usually not the quickest to speak, wanting to be sure she was perfectly understood - that felt especially important when talking to a child, who might take her words rather literally. "It mostly depends on the weather. Ice gets more slippery when it's melted and then gets cold again quickly. When that happens you'll want to be extra careful where you're going. Snow tends to grip to the ice and make it easier to travel over, but that depends on the weather too. Sometimes snow is really wet and dense, other times it's very..." Kiela paused, searching for the right word. "Fluffy. It can pile up high, but it's not hard to travel though. It just depends."

Was talking about the weather and its effects on snow density something interesting to a pup? Kiela had no idea. Even if it wasn't, an adventure went right alongside it, so hopefully it wasn't too unbearable for the girl. She was sure she could find a view that would impress the girl. It wasn't too far away either, each step they took bringing them closer. She slowed as they neared a more tricky part up ahead, where the path dropped off to a steep cliff facing. "Careful here," she warned her as she lead the way, swiveling around to make sure Rúna was moving along without difficulty.
