She was coming back from Boreas, and after having visited the battlefield there, she decided she wanted to check out Auster's version of it. She had never been here before, only in passing, but even the times she passed by, she could smell and see the chaos this place seemed to embody. She did her best to walk carefully, but every now and then she would trip or step on old bones that stuck out of the ground. She wasn't so sure about this place. It seemed almost eerily silent. As if the place was cloaked in a different kind of energy. Should she even be here? Well, why not? She was old enough to be now without supervision, and if anything bad happened, home wasn't too far away, either. She couldn't howl like a wolf to find an opponent, so instead, she loudly grunted her own call, hoping to attract someone to come fight her. Saga

Ronan had fought all sorts of creatures, things folks from this part of the world probably wouldn't believe if he cared to tell, but a bear? It was new for him at least and despite himself he was curious, no doubt she'd be able to hit like a shit ton of bricks, so ideally the goal was to not be hit. But hey, if it happened he was confident he could tank it better than most. Probably. "Think fast."Was his warning as he rushed onto the scene, since he wasn't underhanded enough to start throwing punches without reason And without at least letting her have a moment to square up. Sometimes people deserved it, but he hadn't even met the bear lady yet so he couldn't quite say. Taking the initiative, Ronan swept in close, jaws snapping as he eyed her reactions. Took in her posture, how tightly did she hunch her shoulders? What would it take for her to start swinging those massive paws around?

Hmm. The place was pretty quiet compared to the battlefield in Boreas. Did the wolves down here not...partake in spars? From what she had learned, the Boreas battlefield seemed to be teeming with all sorts of challenges. She had yet to hear something like that going on here. Weird. Lost in her thoughts, she wasn't aware of someone approaching until she heard the voice, and her head swung to face the most exotic looking wolf she'd ever seen! He had what looked like wings, but not quite. He was black and blue and stripey red, and all around looked pretty cool. He came running at her, and she had only a few heartbeats to prepare herself for the assault. Shifting her weight forward, she met him head on, head down and tucked as her scruff scrunched up. She sought to meet him with her body, looking to knock him off course, or maybe even knock him down. She wasn't as fast as a wolf probably, but she was tanky. His teeth connected with the thick fur of her neck, and so she took the opportunity to take a swipe, aiming to slap him away from her. She was a good sport, Ronan could respect that. Didn't throw a fit that he'd skipped the pleasantries, didn't take his curtness and twist it into something it wasn't. Simple and easy, a spar to shake off the dust, nothing more and certainly nothing less. And for a beast so lumbering, the bear's reaction time was pretty sharp, tension settling into her form as she braced for impact. His teeth hooked onto the dense fur around her neck and it was that grip that was the only thing that stopped him from being walloped into next week as a paw went slamming into his ribs on the left side of his torso. Had his mouth not been stuffed full of white fur, he would have probably uttered some very colourful words. She had to have been pulling her punches, cause a la verga, the shock of the impact was enough to make him want to puke, his eyes watering at the intensity of it. But like any beast of her size, if she'd really wanted to have hurt him, he'd've already known about it. Bears weren't exactly subtle. Digging his claws into the mud, stance widening as he spread his weight so as to not slip- he arched his back and yanked hard. Much like a dog with its favourite toy in maw, a game of tug of war afoot. With skin as loose as this his intention wasn't to rip anything, more he was trying to brute strength her into losing her footing in the mud. If she staggered a little, he'd count that as enough for a win.

She was, in fact, pulling her punches. She had grown up sparring with her siblings and the rest of her family. She had to in order to avoid seriously hurting them. Of course, she applied that same learning beyond her family, unknown to her that she didn't always have to. But goddamn, even though he wasn't biting onto a vital part of her, his tugging and yanking on her flesh was starting to hurt, and she honestly wasn't used to this. She had stayed majority of her time within the confines of her family and within Ethne both under her mother's lead, and now her sisters. They were practically playing tug-of-war with her own flesh and fur. She grunted her displeasure with this as she replanted her paw to the ground, pulling back against him every other breath. But at this rate, they'd end up at a stalemate. Instead, she opted to let her weight go forward just as he pulled, aiming to slam her chest into him, while reaching forward with another forepaw in an attempt to hook his odd looking chicken wings (she didn't know what to call them since she had never seen anything like it before). Maybe if she was lucky, she'd hook it and drag that leg out from under him. And to really make him falter, she roared in his face. Startle him a wee bit. That was always a good tactic, no?
