Since the meeting and his parents leaving for the raid, taking Tani with them, it had been put on Gav and his chore list to make sure Baecette was feeling okay. And thats wat Iki was in the middle of doing. Dad had showed him how to use the snares but he wasn't fast nor smart like him so unfortunately the snare wasn't reset after he claimed the rabbit in it. Yum, rabbit. Iki's jowls were dripping with drool as he came back. He had done his best to remember it was for Baecette. Though his brother didn't even eat yesterday. Maybe he wouldn't mind today if Iki ate half it.

Nope. He couldn't do that.

His overweight body pushed into the den and he moved to Baecette, his grin meeting his eyes and tail wagging. "Big brover! I gots chu a raffit!" he trotted over with his mouth full and dropped it near Baecette's head. His flowers weren't eaten either.... he knew those were important. Mom told him he had to take them. Gav had laid them out too.

He sat and pawed at Baecette's shoulder. A whine raising from him. Dad always made them be gentle with Baecette, so he was as gentle as he could be. Though when his brother kind of flopped and cold met his paw he started to panic. Alarm barks were sent out as well as his pitiful howl for gav or anyone near. He moved as quick as possible too. His form trying to snuggle Baecette and make him warm up while a ranting of wake ups came from him. Baecette had to be pulling a prank right? This wasn't funny!

Ooc: takes place simultaneously with the raid. And to clarify Baecette is dead already, okayed with Beau <3

Gavroche was still down about being home, about the injury he believed he had caused his aunt to get. With everyone off at the raid, including Sou and Vitani who would be on healing detail, Gavroche and Ikuchi had been left behind in their family den. With Ikuchi fetching food for Baecette, there wasn’t much that he needed to worry about. He had given his brother the herbs his mother had said to give him and then the young male returned to his nest. The winged wolf sulked on the furs, knowing soon that they would be moving out of this den and into their own now that they were yearlings. It made him sad… he wanted to keep being close to his parents and siblings but…

He shook his head, green gaze landing on Ikuchi as his brother entered the den with a rabbit. He watched him move over to Baecette, setting it down. But despite this their colorful sibling didn’t move. Gavroche shifted, watching them as Ikuchi whined. Something was wrong… Gavroche could feel worry welling up in his gut, anxiety eating at him as he padded over to Baecette and set a paw on him. He recoiled instantly, eyes growing wide. No.

No no no no…

Gavroche’s ears fell and his gaze shot from Ikuchi back to Baecette. His body wasn’t rising and falling. He was cold… still… Gavroche felt like everything started to cave around him. His head fell, tears welling up in his eyes as he fixed his attention on the earth at his paws. “He’s… He’s dead…” Gavroche whimpered. But why? Why had… their mother had been treating him… Divinities above… Why was this happening?

"Speech," 'Thought.'

"Speech!"
Gav was quick to try to help. Which was a good thing definitely. Iki was doing his best to try to warm Baecette back up, though he wasn't sure it would work.

Then Gav started talking and iki, looked at him with wide eyes. No! "I don't like this joke guys! Is not funny!" his voice was more a whine. His brother's did like to prank him sometimes, but none like Baecette. How could Gav get in on one so mean?

They had to be joking. Right?

It took him a moment of looking at both his brothers, back and forth before it sank in. Gav was serious and Baecette wasn't opening his eyes to grin at him and call him an idiot like normal. His ears pinned. He back pedaled quickly as another shrill whine came from him. Why? Why them? Mom was gonna get so mad and think they had forgot Baecette. Dad was gonna ground them so bad!

"I didn't do it, I swear.... wat do we do Gav?" he looked to gav for what they should do, how they could fix this.

This was no joke. As much as Gavroche wished their brother would sit back up, call them both fools for falling for a trick, he knew that he wouldn’t. Baecette was gone. He felt numb, tears pricking his eyes as he stood there breathing hard. Where had they gone wrong? Why hadn’t they been able to help him? He was lost, almost consumed by his emotions until Ikuchi spoke again. “It wasn’t you, Ikuchi.” The young male said softly, looking over at his brother as tears ran down his face. “I’m.. I’m not sure what we can do… We might just have to wait for mom and dad to get back…” He moved over to Ikuchi and hugged him close. Both for himself and his brother’s sake. “Mom is going to be so heartbroken… Tani too…” He whimpered. His own heart ached, throbbing within his chest over the loss of a sibling. Divinities above… why did life have to be so cruel?
