Coran ventured out farther than he originally intended. What was meant to be a simple weekend hunting trip soon turned into a week long journey. He arrived at the base of a dormant volcano, noting the charred trees and remains of its past eruption but also noting the new growth and unique plants that were growing in the enriched soil. It was a strange contrast and beautiful in its own way.
Coran didn't know what kind of animals lived around here but he gathered that the young growth would likely attract a number of prey species. He was content to focus on hunting but what he didn't anticipate was running into a very large, and very hungry grizzly looking to fatten up for the winter. At first Coran tried to lower his eyes and quietly back up down the path but the bear had already fixated on him and with a roar it charged forward.
Maki liked wandering around these parts, she figured it was mostly, probably safe. Or at least that had been her trailing, meandering thought till she spotted a bear, an angry looking one too! That it wasn't just roaring and charging for the thrill of it- she would have understood though, she'd been there when re-enacting scenes from her stories- it was attacking someone! She let out an undignified guh sound, doing a double take as she found herself on the move, rushing forward to see if she could be of any help. Or at least hindrance to the bear.
"Hey that ain't cool!" She scolded the bear, adding a displeased boof for good measure. She skirted to the side, giving the behemoth a light nip to its rump, yeah that'd show em!
Coran dove to the side, out of the way of the bears open jaws, just narrowly avoiding getting bitten. It was amazing how fast they were but Coran didn't have time to admire the creature as it skidded and turned to come back at him. Before it charged a girl yelled at it and nipped at its rear. Immediately the bear turned and gave chase. "Oh no you don't," Coran snarled as he leapt forward. His fangs latched onto the bear's rump, front legs wrapping around its hind right leg. The bear snarled and spun rapidly, trying to get at him. The force was more than he could manage and Coran went flying off, slamming into the rocks nearby.
