The changes that had been happening within Insomnia didn't exactly settle well with the blind man. Once he was used to things, he preferred they not change - but such was the way of life. It was ever-changing, fluid to the core, and to not fall behind he had to keep up to. The lanky male wore a slight scowl as he moved through the willow forest, only realizing the sort of trees here when the low-hanging branch of one grazed his forehead, causing him to startle for a moment. Stupid trees. Stupid forest. The call of his raven companion overhead helped stabilize him, helped remind him that his existence was purposeful. He was not just ambling blindly through the world, as much as he felt like it sometimes. He had persevered and he would continue to do so. He inhaled a slow, deep breath as he focused on his surroundings. Winter had been kind to the west thus far, and though there was a chill to the air not experienced during the rest of the year, it was very tolerable. Not a bad day for a fight, either. He could feel the warmth of the sun overhead, streaming through the trees, and the breeze that whisked through was refreshing. He'd thrown on his bracers, and with his companion soaring nearby he was ready to find someone to spar with. Lifting his head briefly to the sky, he let loose a call - looking for a simple fight, nothing extreme, though his mood was sour and he couldn't promise he'd play as nicely as some.

Alaric had been travelling all over it seemed. From the southern Auster to the north, now the west. He definitely got around but not in the usual ladies man type of way. Was he handsome? Some seem to think so. He struggled with the scars on his face and body but overall didn't exactly think he was ugly. However it was deep in these thoughts he was travelling through the forest, his cane corso behind him, when a call broke through the trees. Someone wanted to spar. He would oblige them. He motioned to Maul to follow as he travelled to the source of the sound. When he got there, it was a man he had not met before. He gave him a nod of his head.

"Hello. I'm Alaric. I heard your call." Alaric took notice of the man's pale yellow eyes. He cleared his throat, wondering if the man was truly blind or not. "What are the conditions of the fight? No companions, no blood drawn, etc?" He asked bluntly. He wanted all the ground rules laid out before he began. Already, Alaric was getting himself set up in a defensive state of being. He was preparing himself physically and mentally for it to begin. Maul stood close behind him, eyeing the other wolf.

Already on-edge, waiting for someone to respond to his call felt painstaking. As he waited, he drank in more of his surroundings. The willow trees had a unique smell, and the sound that came from their rustling branches was something he ought to have remembered from when Insomnia claimed these lands. He'd never spent much time among the willows though, and even now he wasn't quite sure why he'd come this way. Whoever had heard his call didn't leave him waiting for long. In an effort to be attentive, he lifted his head, hazy yellow eyes unfocused though he always tried to maintain an air of normalcy about him - always trying to face who was talking, not wanting his lack of sight to be obvious. Given enough time with him, it became more apparent, but he wasn't intent on sticking around long enough to make it so clear. A quick, clean fight and he'd be happy to move along. "Veigar," he introduced himself gruffly, giving a vague nod of his head. "No companions, no drawing blood," he agreed, speaking loudly enough so his raven could hear him from where he was soaring above them, making wide arcs across the sky. He'd do better just focusing on his opponent, without worrying about a second even more unpredictable one. Not fighting hard enough to draw blood might be a harder condition for him but he'd do his best. One, two, three... He readied himself, ears swiveling to focus on where Alaric's voice had come from. There was no telling if he was facing him head-on, but it wasn't a wild assumption. He'd think on his feet as he went. Go! His approach wasn't a sneaky one, Veigar kicking off hard and barreling right for the man. He aimed to simply collide with him, hoping he could drive his right shoulder into the other man's throat, hoping to knock him off balance right away. Veigar vs Alaric for Spar Round 1 / ? Alaric nodded, agreeing to the terms. "Maul, stay out of this." He told the cane corsos who simply nodded back in response. Alaric then checked his defenses, keeping an eye ont he stranger. His stance was wide for balance support, his chin tucked to protect his vitals, his tail aligned with his spine for better balance. Then, the Veigar bolted right for him.

Alaric would turn his body to the left to avoid getting a shoulder to the throat, but instead the shoulder of Veigar only collided with him and sent him back a few inches from where he was standing. He could feel the throbbing of the bruised shoulder, but at least he was still standing. Alaric then took this opportunity to make his first move. He would open his black maws wide and seek the side of Veigar's neck in an attempt to grab it with some force but not enough to draw blood.

His opponent seemed the agreeable sort, which Veigar was glad for. Despite feeling a little like he was about to crawl out of his skin, he truly did want to just focus on fighting - plain and simple. Fighting packmates and allies wasn't quite the same as someone like this, someone unpredictable, someone who didn't know his weaknesses and wouldn't change what he was doing in response to that knowledge. He needed to get his shit together and really focus on his skills before he got his ass kicked in the next raid he fought in - he didn't know if he'd impress Enki in the same way he had Medusa if he failed next time. His charge seemed to land, and he felt his opponent stumble back, but only for a moment before his opponent lunged forward. Parted jaws went right for his neck and Veigar instinctively flinched, trying to pull way. One wrong move in an actual fight and he'd be fucked - the force was enough to remind him of that. Giving a wild flail, though not trying to pull away from the attack, he tried to lash out and snap where he could, hoping to land a bite near Reaper's shoulder. While he did that he tried to lift a paw and entangle it around one of the other man's forelimbs, trying to trip him up from gaining a better hold on him. Alaric's attack for the side of the neck had been successful. His maws filled with meat and fur as he clamped down with force, but did not draw blood. He squeezed the area tight, but not enough to draw blood. However in the process he could see Veigar's maws coming straight for his shoulder. So he decided to give it to him, in a form way. He would slam his shoulder forwards in attempt to bash it into the nose and front jaw of Veigar, it would most likely get caught in the process but not without a fight. He took a step back with his targeted limb to avoid his front limb being wrapped around, keeping his balance in check.
